    Well, most people like to stay logged on because they do other things as well as browse PC. If you don't check the remember me box, then you will automatically log out at fifteen or so minutes. So... we basically already have a system like this.
     
    Even if you forgot to log out, and even if you have the "remember me" box checked, the forum will still log you out automatically after the 15-minute period. Only difference with "remember me" is that it will automatically log you back in once you refresh the forum, instead of needing to input your username and password manually.

    ...So yeah, really no need for any sort of "idle" status like that.
