5th Gen Inb4 New Weather Type.

If they add acid rain I think it would be like Sandstorm and instead of Rock, Ground and Steel Pokémon being unaffected it would be Poison Pokémon.

Judging by that demo, I believe we might have real weather, you know random weather, not fixated on certain routes.
I could not tell that from the video. I do hope that is true as it would be more realistic. I think that fog should be upgraded to full weather status.

Everyone is forgetting Gravity and Trick Room. Those are weather effects too, technically.

A while ago in the Gen V Speculation thread, I made an attack that was somewhat like an electrical storm, where everything gets charged and the power of electric moves is increased. I don't remember what it was called, but I think I could settle with something like

Magnet Storm | Electric | -- POW | -- ACC | 5 PP
Effect: Summons a strong magnetic field that amplifies Electric moves.

+50% to Electric-type moves.
All Pokemon lose 50% Evasion.
All Pokemon except Electric and Ground-types lose 6.25% HP per turn.
Weather Ball becomes Electric-type.

- - - - - - - - - -

I'm also really hoping this happens too:

Overcast | Dark | -- POW | -- ACC | 5 PP
Effect: Causes thick fog to appear on the battlefield.

The Accuracy of moves is lowered by 10%.
Weather Ball becomes Flying-type.
Moonlight, Morning Sun, and Synthesis only heal 25% HP.
Solarbeam requires 2 turns to charge.
Fire-type moves are weakened by 25%.
Water and Electric-type moves are strengthened by 25%.

Defog | Flying | 60 POW | 100 ACC | 10 PP
Effect: Clears the battlefield of weather-effects, Mist, Safeguard, Light Screen, and Reflect. This attack only does damage if an effect is removed. Lowers the foe's Evasion by 1 stage.

In this pic from Serebii, the same exact forest entrance is shown, but it's obviously not raining in the pic, which led me to the conclusion.

How would Acid Rain affect Pokemon with Poison Heal (Breloom) would it just restore it's health or something.

I was thinking about what people have been saying about Acid Rain and it would make sense to be in the game... Maybe it could poision your Pokemon or something? :S

Giant earthquakes devasting the whole region, or is that more a disaster? :P

Earthquakes are not weather they are like you said Natural Disasters.

DING DING IDEA ALERT IDEA ALERT

1:what if acid rain boosted the power of the poison type move acid armour.

2:also the high wind weather idea wouldnt be that bad,it could boost the speed of flying types and let the moves bounce and fly work without having to wait for them to charge (sort of like the sunny weather + solar beam combo)

.... YES PLEASE. ANOTHER WAY TO KILL IT. YES PLEASE!

Bug is resistant to Poison. Fail.

lol Lake overturn and BAM every Pokemon in a 15 mile radius is dead.

That would be too crippling... For both sides of the battle.

Pollute | Poison | -- POW | -- ACC | 5 PP
Effect: Makes the weather turn acidic, damaging non-Poison-types each turn.

Inflicts 6.25% damage each turn to all types (including Steel), except Poison-types.
Pokemon with Water Absorb, Rain Dish and Storm Drain take 12.5% instead.
Pokemon with abilities making them immune to effect damage / Poisoning are immune (Magic Guard, Leaf Guard, Immunity, etc.).
Pokemon with Poison Heal are healed instead for the same amount.
Lowers the Defense of all Pokemon except Poison-types by 1 stage.
Solarbeam takes 2 turns to charge.
Moonlight and Morning Sun heal only 25%.
Synthesis fails upon activation.

We already have a high-wind weather.
It's called Tailwind.

oh right.....well what about the acid armour thing I think at least that would make sense

Actually I think it would weaken the Pokemon more if it got caught in Acid Rain... Since Acid Armor turns the Pokemon using it into water as a defense (at least in the anime / how they are animated), it would make sense that they are weakened when corrosive substances are incorporated into their body.

One second...

LIST OF WEATHER EFFECTS
Raining
Strong sunlight
Sandstorm
Hail
Dense fog
Shadow Sky

OTHER WEATHER EFFECTS
Intense gravity
Trick Room
Tailwind

hmm thats true so how about the move simply cant be used in acid rain

/facepalm

I really don't think so... though I will give you and 90% of this community props for your creativity.

First of al, the weather effects actually made sense so far. Acid rain, however, would not. When you experience acid rain, it doesn't feel any different than normal rain (though I would suppose it would taste different) and the damage caused is more long term. Hail and Sandstorm makes sense because intense winds and grains of sand do create a sligh buffering effect and hail does hurt >_<. Like I said, acid rain does not. It's just not healthy to ingest directly or through animals or plants that absorbed it previously.

^^^^^^^

poison types would be resistant
