4th Gen Inclusion of Rock Smash.

something like Quagsire could easily fill an HM slave slot for things like Rock Smash, Waterfall, Strength, etc.

You should try out Chinchou/Lanturn. Learns Flash, Surf, Waterfall, and Whirlpool. :)
 
If it can't be a TM because of compatibility issues with DPPt, then I think there should be a move tutor somewhere that teaches it for free, whenever you want. If its a HM it messes up my team. I was gonna do this:

Typhlosion
Pidgeot - Fly
Scizor - Cut
Donphan - Strength
Ampharos - Flash
Blastoise - Suf, Waterfall (Whirlpool when I need it, but will be deleted as soon as I can delete it.)

where exactly is the move deleter in the games? I know its too early to ask but I doubt they will move him to a different location

Yes, he is in Blackthorn.
 
Remember that Dive was a HM in RSE, but amounted to absolutely nothing in FRLG.

It can't be a TM due to compatabilty issues, so it's either gonna be a HM or there will be a move tutor or something. We know that rock smash is in the game because there have been screenshots of Tyranitar using it near Cianwood.
 
I thought that Rock Smash was only a TM in the originals, so I guess that they have changed it to HM for compatibility, so is that what you are getting at. Also it can;'become a Tm because there are already the set 92/93 from D/P/PT. So does this mean Flash won't be a HM to. (I didn't read through this thread).

They'll probably make Rock Smash a TM.

I'm more concerned about how they'll bring Whirlpool back. Will they just have it replace Defog as HM05?
 
I always thought you couldn't make Pokemon hold HM's anyway, so I don't see how it could wreck any compatibility, because the only way it would screw up is if you traded them from one to the other. (correct me if I'm wrong)

Your right, but I was responding to the person that said it might be a Tm. Which is impossible unless embargoes are put on certain items when it comes to trading.
 
I don't really care though.

But they could come up with something other than Rock Smash.

Well you could have used Rock Smash near Cianwood. If you go north, there were rocks that were Rock Smash-able. It was one of the few places where you could use Rock Smash.

There is also the new areas too in Jotho that I guess you could use Rock Smash.

I know but that was because it was a TM in the originals.

TM/HM compatibility can screw off. Seriously. I want my old 1-50 GSC TMs, and the inclusion of 51-90 whatever of the new ones introduced in DPPt. Gen III TMs are getting old and with the system I'm imposing, everyone's happy cause we get our elemental punches. Tough luck if you want to trade the TMs. It could be like the Time Capsule and they could just disallow it. It's really not that difficult.
