There has been something that I have been thinking about lately and I thought I might as well ask for what you all think about inserting new music into a ROM. Do you ever insert new music and/or sound effects into your own ROM hack or do you leave it as it is with the music and sound effects that are already on the ROM base? For anyone who is interested in inserting music into a ROM, there's guides on how to for Nintendo DS ROMs and GameBoy Advance ROMs.

If you ever insert new music into your ROM hack, do you create your own? Or do you insert music from another game or attempt to make a song almost identical to a DS music? Do you ever insert any new sound effects or do you just leave it the way it is? For those who are wondering how to create their own music from scratch there's a guide on how to create your own Pokémon music for your ROM hack.

I'd really like to hear your opinions and your decissions about inserting music or leaving it the way it is. ^^

For my opinion, I would prefer to insert new music into a ROM hack, deppending on what it is... if it's based in a region that GameFreak has never made before, then surely I would insert customized music created from scratch, not anywhere based on a different game or sounding exactly like it. I feel that creating customized music from scratch doesn't remind someone of a different game and gives them that "new" feel to playing it for the first time ever.

But of course, everyone's different. Some may prefer to just use the ROM's original music and sound effects rather than insert new music. And to be honest, I haven't seen many ROM hacks that have music completely made from scratch that is not based off a different game, correct? Some people also prefer to use music from a different game.

Isn't it wonderful to see difference, eh? ^^

I just make the sounds in Acid, then insert them :D
Sounds better than GFs crap, except I LOVE gen IIs bike theme. And FRLG champion battle, and Arceus battle (I wrote a drum version and performed it at a concert :3 )
Other than those I usually customize tracks

Meh. I tried to insert Bach's neverending Canon (I can;t remember the actual title), of which there are several MIDIs of around, but I quickly gave up when I ran into difficulty. I'd normally keep trying until I'd get it, but I figured most people probably don't play emulators with sound on anyway.
