6th Gen Interesting battle mechanic

    So i was playing pokemon X this morning and for some reason i decided to touch the top left corner of the bottom screen while my pokemon gained experience. What happened when i did this is a hand showed up petting my pokemon on screen and i saw the hearts for affection. I got creeped out and tried it again, realizing this is a new battle mechanic, i'm assuming it's just another way to raise affection for those who don't want to use pokemon amie. Anyone else find this mechanic before?
