Yesterday I went to Pal Park for the first time, but what I found out isn't related to Pal Park at all. It's about what Oak said. He said that "You can import pokemon from all around the country". Does that mean that Hoenn, Sinnoh, Kanto, and Johto are all part of the same country? As in...They aren't like continents or countries by themselves, but the four gens so far are just a small little portion of the "pokemon world". Somebody's already probably put thought into this, but I found it strange when he said that...

    Comment on the subject, anyone?

Uhh, yeah. This is why the regions are called "regions" and not "countries" or "nations."

I never thought about them being the same country, but I guess they probably are. Like Ichida pointed out, they're called regions. Nice observation.

I guess I just didn't think about it like that, since they seemed pretty big and also they've never used words like country or nation (that I noticed). It just seemed like people would only talk about the other regions as if they were foreign countries.

All the regions in the Pokemon games are based off of actual regions in Japan.

    [PokeCommunity.com] Interesting Discovery!

    Kanto is Kanto, of course.
    Sinnoh is based on Hokkaido.
Orre is based somewhat on Chugoku (hence the lack of wild Pokemon, since Hiroshima is where the nuke was dropped...).
Johto is based off of Kinki (in this map, I've seen it called something else elsewhere).
Hoenn is based off of Kyushu.

Wow thanks for the info, I didn't know any of that about it being related to Japan. It's a very interesting bit of info.

Hmmm, that's pretty cool. I didn't know the make up of Japan enough to realize that. This actually brings up some other interesting subjects...Such as maybe they'll have later games based on other countries. Also if there's such a huge variety of pokemon in just that country, then what about the entire "world".
