Invitation to Saliplan Island

Name: David Lawride
Sex: Male
Age: 17
Length of time spent as a trainer: 5 years (never had much interest in the leagues)

History: David's journey began unwillingly after a Team Rocket grunt broke into his home in Viridian City five years ago and stole important documents, along with leaving him and his only Pokémon back then, Poochyena, encased in ice. His parents, explorers in their own right, were commonly out in the caves of Kanto, such as Seafoam and Cerulean, so they couldn't do anything but receive the news far too late – David had already met his father along the way.
The years that followed were dedicated to his quest in finding the Team Rocket executives while running errands for the people of the Orre Pokémon Lab throughout Johto and Orre itself; he went as far as helping with driving away Cipher from certain places in the regions, and confronting Koga, from whom he still keeps a shuriken as a memo of their fight. This deprived him for any interest in ever entering a real Pokémon League. All this, coupled with extensive training in the Seviis, granted him enough knowledge to become a good trainer in his own right. He also had his uncle, a well-known Pokémon investigator in Pewter, to help him with whatever he could, teaching him whatever he knew about Pokémon and strategies.
He is still searching for whoever was responsible for what happened years ago, proof of his perseverance and feeling that his quest is a long way from being completed.
The invitation for Saliplan Island was received without much surprise; it was time for another errand, and he would accomplish it just like the other ones.

Personality: David tends to drift away in his own thoughts, so he usually comes to people as a rather silent and reserved/timid person, especially with his parents' obvious absence in his life. But when amongst friends or allies he knows he can trust, his quietness is replaced with an optimistic and generally dry-humored and satirical personality.
He doesn't handle being accused very well, so he'll immediately try to find an excuse or throw the guilt onto someone else as a way of defending himself.

Physical Description: Right here: https://th01.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/i/2010/069/4/6/The_Fifth_Generation_Awaits_Us_by_DonLawride.jpg (The Mightyena was drawn as being slightly larger than usual, so it's not David the one who's smaller than average)

Pokémon:
Name: Mightyena
Gender: Male
Level: 45

History: Mightyena was David's first Pokémon; David's parents caught him during a Safari in Kanto many years before his journey, so the two became very close friends. As a Poochyena, he was trained as a watchdog due to David often being left alone in Viridian while his parents traveled to explore. When the burglar broke in, however, Poochyena was powerless before a mighty Dewgong, so they were left frozen. David ran to the Center in tears, and that same night, vowed to train, find and bring in to justice Team Rocket.

Mightyena has been his focus in terms of offensive physical battle due to his balanced speed and power, and overall agility. However, when the battle gets tough, Mightyena is left as a first line of defense.

Name: Enigma (Raichu)
Gender: Female
Level: 38

History: A very stubborn Raichu, a personality that goes back to when she was still a Pikachu. She was given this name because when David caught her, she refused to obey his orders and eventually ran away. David discovered that the only reason she was with him was because he had a Thunderstone. Just before she fled, David broke the Thunderstone into two pieces, and allowed her to leave. She would once again be found, but as a Raichu, and excelling at the move Volt Tackle – an advantage David didn't hesitate in improving, and Enigma quickly because the speediest powerhouse in his team. She also seemed to have a crush on the trainer himself now.

Due to her naturally great speed, David has her as a second option in battle, mostly because in spite of her speed, she isn't very sturdy.

Name: Porygon (Porygon-Z)
Gender: (David just calls him a he)
Level: 38

History: Porygon is probably the most joyful character in David's team; caught as a Porygon after being found in Goldenrod as a victim of maltreatment from Team Rocket, Porygon has proven to be very useful to the trainer due to his innately great offensive power. He likes to fly around and always seems to be happy with something. However, once he evolved into a Porygon-Z, David was forced to keep him on a low profile, because Porygon-Z's had become an illegal evolution after the Team Galactic conflict. The law quickly changed, but Porygon had already taken a liking to being hidden away in the networks and any kind of software, such as David's Pokégear.

The team's greatest asset, David doesn't have a strategy for him, except that he won't bring him out first if he doesn't know the enemy.

Name: Lacewing (Vibrava)
Gender: Female
Level: 35

History: Lacewing is the result of David's travels in Orre. She was found as a Trapinch and trained, and the name was given after David saw a Vibrava and its wing's aspect. She was met only later in his journey, so she has a lower level than any of her teammates, but is just as welcomed to the team due to her kind and optimistic personality. She mainly serves a means of transport across the regions.

Name: Typhlosion
Gender: Male
Level: 40

History: David's actual "starter Pokémon", given to him by Professor Elm when he had to go through New Bark Town to access Johto. He is the most serious of David's Pokémon, and almost as much of a guardian to David as Mightyena.

Other: David owns a slightly tweaked version of the Pokégear, a Pokégear V3.2.

"Mister David Lawride…?"

That voice, that exact same expression. If he were to guess, he'd say he had already heard that expression at least twenty times since he knew himself. And he didn't mind, really; after all, it was normal for people who worked for public services such as the mail service to respectfully greet and ask for your name with a 'Mr.' behind it, especially if they don't know each other.
But it wasn't the case, oh no: David knew awfully well who stood behind the door when he opened it and saw a figure towering above him: it was that same crazed postman, his Pelipper, who sat directly on top of his wide crimson hat, and his annoying slash entertaining habit of always asking for his name in spite of having delivering the mail personally for the previous five years – nothing about him had changed since then, apparently.
"I have mail for you." He said the typical, jolly voice that reminded David of his own Pokémon as a single envelope was handed to the boy.
"Than-…" The rest was muffled by the door closing; David backed against the door and sighed in relief. That man was definitely the person he least wanted to talk to, even if he was very polite.

"To think that happened almost a week ago…" He spoke in a low voice. Mightyena didn't quite know whether it was directed at him or just his trainer's own thoughts, but he chose to approach and place his head on the desk like a young pup, closely watching his trainer pack his stuff into the yellow slingbag: a change of clothes, the scarf he bought in Sinnoh, the hat he bought along with that Hoenn boy, Brendan, a sun lotion, several Potions and bottles of water, a Pokéball or two… precisely what the Pokémon was used to see in their trips. "Okay, I'm all set."

Still lost in his thoughts, Mightyena looked up at his trainer and nodded before both headed downstairs; and all the while, David messed around with the Pokégear, seemingly scrolling from one feature to another for no apparent reason.

15th April… 15:03… Right on schedule. He constantly repeated in as mind as the house's door closed behind him.
Mightyena already awaited him outside, waiting while his trainer mounted his back as if he were a horse.

"Vermilion City… we've been enough times to know the way with our eyes closed, right?"

Mightyena just shook his head slightly, eagerly letting out a short howl before dashing off towards the lush forests of the north, with David holding on to his fur in enthusiastic shouts of adrenaline.

--------------------------

It was several hours later that the two arrived to Vermilion. David's mind had been focused on the time they should arrive at: 18:0018:00
But there it was, and right on time: the beautiful Vermilion City pier, stretching out towards the unending sea under an astonishingly perfect sunset, a landscape that appeared to them far beyond the waves. He could see it as many times as he liked; it would never shake the feeling that something good was coming, that better times awaited, and that the forthcoming journeys were bound to be truly rewarding. It was Vermilion: The Port of Exquisite Sunsets.

As Mightyena ran down the hills as fast as his strong legs would go, David began looking out for Dock C, where he was supposed to meet the team coordinators that'd give the tickets.

"Alright, Mightyena… I think it's that one over there." He said, pointing at a specific dock where three persons stood, one of them standing at the edge of the dock while looking at his watch and then at the sea, again and again.

His garments immediately gave away that he was the one that had signed the letter, if the sign reading 'Dock C' just above their heads didn't say enough about it. There seemed to be other people on the dock, but David chose to speak with the 'manager' first.

"Okay, you wait here." He told Mightyena before jumping off and walking towards the man, always with the feeling that everyone around him was watching. He never dealt well with that kind of crowds. "Hum, excuse me, mister…"

"Hey!" One of the other persons in the crowd called; a chill went down his spine, and David got the feeling he had messed up. He slowly turned, first his head to confirm it was for him, then completely to see a man in definitely adventurous clothing waving at him with a clipboard, a few suitcases set at his feet and a woman with similar clothing right next to him, constant and quickly typing on a laptop sitting on her lap while muttering something incomprehensible along the lines of overheating and dying. It was when David realized he was staring fixedly at her that she turned and flashed an obviously forced smile, coupled with a low 'Hello' before turning away again. "You still with us?" The man in front of him snickered in a friendly way, putting a hand on David's shoulder to call his attention. "So, you're here for the Saliplan Island invitation, right?"

"I-huh-… yeah, that's, hum… right." David swiftly stuttered, still lost after the sudden call of attention. "Hum… David Lawride." He added, stretching out a hand to shake.

"David Lawride…" The man repeated, reading through the list of names. "Ah! Here it is, David Lawride. Welcome aboard, name's Robin!"

Oh snap, I thought the other guy was Robin. He immediately thought as the man ticked something on the list and strongly shook the boy's hand. "P-Pleasure…!"

"Okay, so you should also speak to my coordinator, Francis over there," He pointed at the man at the edge of the dock. "To confirm that you have everything we require."

David nodded and threw a quick, embarrassed frown at Mightyena. Well, so far so good, he thought.

The sharp contrast between the two coordinators took David by surprise; Francis didn't even bother greeting you, taken that he simply took out another clipboard and began asking for each item on the list with a monotonous and clearly uninterested voice.
And one by one, David took out the items and placed them back while the man ticked something on the paper and said a nerve-wracking-ly apathetic 'Okay'. David started to get the feeling he was being ignored.
Once they were finished (at least from what David could see from his point of view), the man just turned away and returned to his cycle of checking the time and looking back at the sea before checking the time again.

With everything seemingly finished, David put the sling bag back and walked to Mightyena's side with a slightly confused expression.
"Well… that didn't go too badly." He commented with a nervous smirk as Mightyena sighed.

Name: Harigold Miller, but his friends call him Harry.

Sex: Male

Age: 16

Length of time spent as a trainer:

Harigold started being a Trainer back in Hoenn, where his dad gave him his first Pokémon. He spent a year there earning badges. He eventually moved to Kanto when his father moved there as well. He has been traveling around Kanto for a 5 years. On one of those years, he also reached Tohjo falls. He moved quite slow though, so that he'll be able to train his Pokémon more efficiently.

History:

Harry was born in Mossdeep City. His mother died after giving birth to him, and because of this his dad treasures him most. His dad took him to Shoal Cave when he was 11. It was a low tide back then, so they were able to go deeper; down to where Snorunt can be found. A Snorunt tried to attack them when they tried to pick up a berry that belongs to that same Snorunt. Because of that, his father tried to capture the Snorunt, and achieved success. His father doesn't have any interest in training Snorunt, though, so he gave it to Harry. Harry started to train and started to travel around Hoenn, defeating 2 gyms.

Unfortunately though, they have to move to Kanto because his dad found a better job there. They moved to Pewter City, and his dad's job was at the museum. He continued his journey in Kanto and captured a few Pokémon. His Snorunt also evolved during his journey around Kanto. Eventually, he arrived at Tohjo falls. There he met another trainer named Kayley. They traveled together until Kayley have to come back home to Sinnoh.

Personality:

Harry is a rather cheerful, friendly and optimistic person. He prefers being with friends and Pokémon. Whenever things might seem gloomy, Harry is always there to cheer everyone up. He is also a smart kid, considering that for the 4 years that he had been studying at school he was the smartest in his class. Harry also has an attitude to defend his opinions whether they seem wrong or right. No-one wanted to argue with him because they knew that they would just be showered with words explaining why he is correct.

Physical description:

Harry is a tanned male. He was 5'8" last time he checked. He likes to wear a yellow long sleeve shirt, with a black vest on top. He also wears a golden jogging pants with black lining in the side. His shoes was black. He had no cap nor bandanna. He likes to swing his hair through the wind. his hair is straight black with golden highlights. He has a bagpack, with only one strap. It doesn't have any particular design except that it was green and it has a picture of a Snorunt in the left side pocket.

Pokemon:

Pokémon: Glalie
Nickname: Da'd (pronounced as Da ad)
Gender: Male
Level: 42

This Glalie looks like any other Glalie. Harry got it on Shoal Cave when he and his father found it. It recently just evolved, but its not really great when it comes to offense. Still, Da'd is a strong opponent to face. When it comes to battles, he puts on a brave face. And yes, it helps him concentrate. His favorite move, the one that he showed Harry after it was captures, is Ice beam. Da'd never gets tired of using that move, and sometimes would not follow orders just to use it.

Back when it was a Snorunt, Da'd likes hugging. He still does until now and would sometimes carefully tackle Harry as a sign of happiness. When angered, Da'd might start a hail storm as it becomes very furious. Like that one time when a trainer started to tease Harry, and Da'd was still a Snorunt back then, it started to hail and it only hailed at the place where the trainer was standing. It was quite an ability for Da'd and since then Harry trained it to use that move.

Pokémon: Pidgeotto
Nickname: Sharm
Gender: Female
Level: 30

Harry caught Sharm as a Pidgey on the outskirts of Pewter City when they first moved. The Pidgey was rather cheerful. Sharm likes to get backrides from Harry when it evolved. It carries Harry through the air, taking the travel time between cities shorter.

Sharm is quite an extraordinary battler. It glides and pecks on opponents and dodges attacks that is super effective against her. Whenever she would be knocked down on the ground, it would start a strong gust until she has stood up, almost knocking down her opponent.

Other:

Harry likes to daydream a lot. He is linguistic, knowing 10 languages all-in-all. He likes Spanish most of all.

RP Sample:

There were people at the port. They felt a quite strong wind coming. Behind them landed a Pidgeotto, and a trainer was on its back.

"Woah there girl!" said the boy. He came down and brought out a Pokéball.

"Return!" he shouted, "Thanks for the ride, now is time for you to rest."

The boy looked at everyone and started to introduce himself to the crowd.

"Hi everyone!" the boy started, "My name is Harigold Miller, but you can call me Harry."

Everyone waved, well almost everyone. He noticed the girl that was on a laptop. He walked closer to her and looked at what she was doing. The girl noticed him as he crept his face closer to hers. She started to blush.

"Hi there, my name's Harry!" Harry exclaimed, "Might I know yours?"

"My name's Louise." the girl stated, "I need to get back to my laptop now. I worry that it may overheat when we get to the island."

"Fine, I was just asking your name." said Harry, and walked away.

Harry noticed a man that is quickly running to him.

"Good morning, I'm Francis!" said the man, "I'm just here to ask if you've gotten everything that we asked you to bring?"

"Well, yeah." Harry answered.

"Okay." after that answer, Francis just walks away.

Harry noticed another man approaching him. This time, the man was carrying a clip-board.

This must be the guy who takes the names. Harry thought to himself.

"Good morning, sir!" said the guy with the clip board, "Would it bother you if I ask your name?"

"No not at all!" answered Harry, "My name's Harigold Miller."

"Thank you very much," answered the man. He then ticks on the paper that is on top of the clip-board. "My name is Robin, by the way. Nice to meet you." He then proceeds to shake hands with Harry and walks away.

Wow, what wonderful people! I think I will have a good time at Saliplan Island. Harry thought to himself, I can't wait to start another adventure!

Probably the first time I'm RPing in this forum. Wish me luck!

Aside from the highly formal dialogue, this seems fine. If you don't mind a suggestion, not all characters are so well spoken, so you're free to ease up a little on the formality with some characters, and even the social friendliness. This is just to keep the other characters such as NPCs closer to their nature.

Anyway, accepted.

I'm useing my phone and have no spell check whatsoever could you Plz just tell me what I have to fix now thankyou

You can check back in the thread, as I have already told you what needs changed.

Ok, I've added the Roleplay sample, so I'll be waiting for the final verdict on my Sign-up. I'll stay up to date on things.

Thanks, accepted.

Not finished yet.

Name:
Gordon Beckerling
Sex:
Male
Age:
18
Length of time spent as a trainer:
About 11 months. He's rather new, that means. But don't judge him for that.

History:
Born in a wealthy upper class family in Celadon, Gordon has often gotten things he wanted served on a silver plate. He had money, he had a butler, he had fancy clothes and he even had girlfriends from time to time. But there was something his family had never had; pokémon. For some reason, Gordon grew increasingly interested in these creatures as the years passed. It was a secret passion. He was looking to others like a stylish, controlled young man, but inside he was passionately intrigued by the powers the pokémon possessed. You might say he was a fan still in the closet.

His rather thin mother was spoiled and easily annoyed. His rather fat father came from an old noble family, but most of their riches actually came from an invention Gordon's father had made when younger, and which he now made people pay to use. He also was in the corporate governance of a large pokéball factory positioned in Celadon. Gordon had two sisters, one older and one younger. He was in between, but he wasn't a quiet, kind middle-child. He was the only boy and he was making the most out of that. He was clearly his father's favorite child and even though his sister was older than him, it appeared as his father entrusted more about his corporate life to Gordon. For this, Gordon endlessly teased his older sister. He never teased her younger sister though, as she was sickly and frail and would never be able to compete with her younger siblings.

At the age of 16, though, his secret passion became to large to bear. Gordon approached her mother one day and told her about him liking pokémon and wanting one of his own. She first thought he was crazy, but then agreed on getting a pet. He didn't dare to say that wasn't what he had planned. His father didn't like the idea of just a pokémon pet, but rather thought they should buy a well bred watchdog. In the end, the persistent mother won, and they bought an expensive female Eevee from a renowned pokémon breeder.

Gordon secretly spent time alone with Eevee, finding out about its attacks and abilities as a battler. He at last realized he had befriended the creature, and that was what made him decide it was time. He would go on a pokémon journey... as a trainer! His parents scorned him, his mother thinking it was barbaric and his father thinking Gordon threw away his great chance to get a job on his company. His big sister supported him, but Gordon saw through it; she mostly wanted him gone so she could get their father's attention instead. His younger sister supported him for real though. She encouraged him and was proud of him. She also knew Gordon didn't have many close friends either; sure some liked spending time with him, but most people did it because they saw the good things about being friends with a rich person. Finally, Gordon did set off, and he took Eevee with him.

They traveled across Kanto to find trainers to compete with, competitions to enter, pokémon to catch and eventually gyms to battle. After getting his fourth badge, the Celadon gym badge, he went home to his family to show what had become of him. They admitted he had succeeded in what he said he would do, and as his father told him he was actually proud, his older sister squeezed her knuckles in suppressed anger.

Gordon had been living at home for a month when he got the invitation to protect excavators on Saliplan Island. He accepted the proposition, seeing it as another competition to enter.

Personality:
Ah, Gordon's personality. Firstly, he is rich. And that gives him a self confidence above the usual. He's abruptly scrapped of it when he faces problems money can't solve though, at least for a while, until his brains start working on their own. In battle, Gordon usually keeps his head cool and uses tactics rather than brute force, unless there are girls to impress in the area when he can get a little more hot-headed.

He's flirting with girls pretty often, as he is pretty good looking with great skin, deep violet eyes and shining, black hair, and he knows it. This makes other boys a bit annoyed with him or even mad at him sometimes though. He used to be somewhat of a coward, covering easily and giving up quickly, but since he decided to become a pokémon trainer, he has started to become more resolved when trying to reach his goals. At least started.

He is humorous when he feels like it, but that's mostly to intimidate or impress others. Under normal conditions, he is pretty energetic and likes to push forward. But when things get serious, so does he, even though it might take a while. If he ever let someone in as closely as he has let his younger sister in, they would realize he is a person of many suppressed dreams underneath the surface of a cocky, wealthy boy.

Physical description:
I can't post links, but he looks like the "rich boy" in the D/P games, only his pants are dark and not white.

Meaning, he is average height, not too tall, and the first thing you notice about him, apart from his expensive clothing from famous brands, is his shining black hair, cut in a fashionable haircut he's been trying to keep as good as possible on his journey.
It's rather long for being a guy's hair, and his fringe goes down suggestively over his forehead, letting his intensively purple eyes shine from underneath.

He isn't muscular; although he was popular in a football team in school, he never really exercised much and maybe only got that popular spot because he was rich. He prefers to let his pokémon do the work and be the brains behind them.

When dressed casually, he wears a rather proper, blue shirt together with black, in fashion trousers. He has been known to wear a striped golden tie when he goes up against gym leaders. He wears a high quality watch on his left arm, a gift from his father, and a thin necklace with a tiny silver anchor dangling from it, which he got from his little sister. He wears it underneath his shirt, so it's not visible unless you're really looking for it.

Pokemon:
Sandslash, Venonat, Flareon.

Flareon:
level 36. The Eevee from his parents. Being rich as he was, he bought a fire stone and evolved it before taking on the Celadon gym. Flareon is generally quick-witted and quick on her feet. She has strong fire attacks and pretty strong physical attacks, average special defence and not so good physical defence. This, she sometimes counter by using the Attract attack she seems to always have known. Gordon suspected it was taught by her breeder. She is often kept outside her pokéball, since she was a pet for long enough to become comfortable outside it and doesn't really want to go back in. She and Gordon understands each other easily and seem to share some kind of emotional bond.

Sandslash:
level 40. Caught as a Sandshrew outside Pewter City. It's strength and DIG attack helped defeat Brock the gym leader. He evolved when they were training hard before the gym battle in Vermilion. Sandslash is the physical fighter in the group and his sharp, strong claws can cut away anything. His Digging ability is useful for surprising enemies and when he curls up, he can withstand both physical and special attacks rather well. As a "person", Sandslash is pretty quiet, although he can be stubborn if something really matters to him. Gordon trusts him, even though they have had their differences sometimes. Sandslash probably wouldn't let anything harm Gordon.

Venomoth:
level 33. Caught north of Cerulean, Venonat was somewhat of a rogue in the beginning, not really wanting to obey Gordon or be friendly with the others. Eventually, Gordon realized Venonat wasn't being mean but rather afraid. He's a bit shy and didn't have a great self-confidence in the beginning, but as he has trained a lot with Gordon now, he has become a lot more sure of himself, especially in battles. He evolved in the battle with Erika, being the main reason Gordon won that badge, since Flareon had been knocked out. Venomoth looks up to Gordon, who is a strong leader in the pokémon's eyes. His numerous dust-techniques are useful in battles, as well as his Psychic abilities.

Other:
Since Gordon has money, he has probably given his pokémon quite a few TMs... I can limit it to one or two per pokémon though.

RP Sample:
[Write an RP sample about your character arriving at Vermilion port and meting the introduced NPCs and players who have already signed up before you. It should be at least a couple of paragraphs. This is a vital example of your writing ability and will probably determine whether or not you are accepted]

Okay, post again when you're done to let me know.

Other: David owns a slightly tweaked version of the Pokégear, a Pokégear V3.2.
Spoiler:

RP Sample:

"Too think that happened almost a week ago…" He spoke in a low voice. Mightyena didn't quite know whether it was directed at him or just his trainer's own thoughts, but he chose to approach and place his head on the desk like a young pup, closely watching his trainer pack his stuff into the yellow slingbag.

I'll finish this in a couple of minutes.

Again, post when you're done to let me know, thanks.

Alright, just finished! Hum, if something's off, do tell, I tend to make mistakes in that sort of stuff xD

D. Lawride, it seems good. Accepted.

I'm sorry, but I'll have to pull out my reservation. I have lots of things in hand so I kind of don't have time for another RP. Sorry :(

I'm sorry, but I'll have to pull out my reservation. I have lots of things in hand so I kind of don't have time for another RP. Sorry :(

It's okay, it's not a problem.

I think since we got a decent number accepted, I will give non-reserved 24 hours to post a sign-up or reserve a space before closing, and 48 hours for those who have reserved to finish up their sign-up. After that we start.

So, sign-ups close for non-reserved at 10/02/2010 13:30 GMT and 11/02/2010 for reserved.

How does my su look now if it's still bad could you reserve me
Note:I was trying to send this last night but fell asleep with my phone on all night

Do you have trouble with your phone typing capital letters? Because you don't seem to use them where you should. Please try your best to capitalize since you seem to be able to do it with some letters, and use punctuation please (you know, periods, commas, etc). If it is a genuine difficulty you have with your phone with capitals, I'll let that slide. Just so it's easier on the eye for others to read.

You should take a new paragraph for each person speaking, instead of bunching speech into a single paragraph.

Also, add a bit more detail to your pokemon entries. For example, you have where one pokemon was caught but not a word about its personality, please look back at what I ask for each pokemon in the first post of the thread.

If you can fix these things, especially the poor formatting and lack of punctuation in the RP sample, then you're all set as long as you keep up the standard through out the RP. I think it would be good practice for you to try to consider punctuation, formatting and grammar at all times. It doesn't matter if you make a mistake, as long as I can see you put in an honest effort. It's just that so far I haven't seen much effort in your corrections.

Done with my SU! I hope Archipelago didn't mind me using Melody to express Gordon's personality :p

Aww, no. I don't mind at all!

Let's all just hope that Gordon keeps an eye out for Knight though, otherwise he could expect half a beating for even talking to Melody. I guess that's what you get for winning an overprotective fossil in a contest.

poison snivy: *shakes head* Since you've still failed to provide what I've asked for I'm going to decline for the last time.

Abyss: This is fine, accepted.

Pokemon: Sandslash, Venonat, Flareon.

Venomoth: level 33.

I'd just like to state that you've alternated between 'Venemoth' and 'Venonat' multiple times in this part of your Sign-up, and I was just wondering which one it would be. I'm not asking in a patronising way, just slightly curious...

Done, but I posted the finished SU on the OOC thread. XD

Notice: All OOC posts should now go in the OOC thread, thank you. The sign-ups are completely closed and the RP will now start.

Arrival at Saliplan Island

Everyone noticed a considerable change in temperature upon arriving at Saliplan. The sun has increased in intensity and there isn't a cloud in the sky. The heat quickly becomes uncomfortable, even though the sun has barely broken the horizon. Everyone is sweating and feeling sticky and stuffy. As they get off the ferry, a register is taken once again to make sure everyone is present.

There are lots of tropical cycads and palms around the town ahead. Many of the buildings are white to reflect heat and keep the interior cool. The town seems quite modern and lively, with many local and tourist people around. The gym is already visible, mainly an outdoor training area with a small arena, lined with surprisingly impressive flower arrangements and tropical plants.

After the register is taken, everyone is told by Robin that today is a leisure day, as the trip may have been tiring and you need some time to acclimatise to the heat. There is the gym to try, though it is very hard, elite four level, and he doesn't think anyone here can beat it. There is also a beach to relax at, and many amenities for food and drink and the prices are affordable. Everyone is given the location of the hotel, a tall white multi-storey building that overlooks the sea, should they want to go there.

Everyone is also told about what the team are doing here. There is, apparently, a very rare key somewhere in the desert, the Key of Drigt. Its name comes from an extinct language once spoken on the island and is thought to mean the night sky or the stars. It's not your typical household key either. It is said to open a secret and ancient location on another island. However, nobody must know about this, because the key, should it be found, could be worth millions and opening this 'secret location' (which you're not given any further elaboration on) could be worth far more in historic value than any amount of money. For you see, it is said that there lie the relics of an ancient alien pokemon species not from Earth. Thus for now you must keep it a secret.

You are instructed, after today's leisure day, to meet at the hotel reception the next morning, dressed appropriately for the heat (either covered with loose shady clothing or lathered in high factor sun-cream), where you will be instructed for the day's tasks. But for now, you can relax.

Wild pokemon found in the town:

Meowth Lv 5 - 30 - common in the streets, often beg for food and may try to steal your money.
Persian Lv 25 - 32 - rare in the streets, more shy.

Ekans Lv 5 - 25 - quite common in all parts of the town, watch your step to make sure you aren't bitten.
Arbok Lv 20 - 27 - Much less common, usually only seen at morning and evening when there is less activity in the town.

Skorupi Lv 5 - 30 - common in all parts of the town, again watch your step and make sure you don't stand on one, or it may attack.

Weedle Lv 5 - 14 - these are usually found in the gardens and tropical scrubland just outside the town. They are an introduced species and not that common.
Kakuna Lv 4 - 18 - they can occasionally be seen hanging from palm trees and garden trees in their shade. Being an introduced species, they aren't that common.
Beedrill Lv 10 - 25 - they aren't common in towns but are occasionally found around bins and garbage sites scavenging for meat and rotten fruit.

Cacnea Lv 5 - 30 - occasionally seen in gardens where there is water being fed into the ground. Be wary of catching them and being accused of thieving - some of them are people's pets!

Vulpix Lv 5 - 30 - common in the town at night, hidden during the day. Another species that scavenges for the leftovers in garbage sites and bins.

Barujiina Lv 32 - 36 - these vulture-like pokemon can sometimes be seen circling in the skies. Occasionally they land to fight over scraps of wasted meat in alleyways.

Murkrow Lv 10 - 25- a standard sight everywhere in the town, except in the peak of the midday heat when they and most other people and pokemon hide.

Gym information:

Gym: Saliplan Gym
Leader: Grant Wilson (NPC)
Sex: Male
History: He has always lived on Saliplan and has found that the best pokemon to use in this climate are a combination of rock, ground and fire type pokemon. He has learned since he was a child how to endure the harshness of the climate and how to survive in the wilderness on minimal supplies.
Personality: He is very confident in his pokemon training, and has rarely ever lost a battle. He is also confident in most other aspects, very self-reliable and carefree, which contradicts with his cautious side. This is because he is so confident in his caution and care that he doesn't ever worry about it. After all, as far as he is concerned getting worried about anything is a waste of vital energy.

He is also a logical and patient thinker. He isn't rash or hasty. He strategies and often uses the weather to his advantage. Amongst people he can come off as a bit arrogant or even a show-off, but really he just has a desire to open people's horizons and teach everyone that they have an inner hidden strength in them that is, in most people, as of yet un-tapped. The way he speaks can switch quite quickly from friendly to harsh depending on the situation, but again he only likes to toughen up the weak through tough love, and not hate or disdain.

Overall, he doesn't seem very formal, and can come across as quite loud and boistrous. But when the situation calls, he can be calm and collected, as though out of instinct.

He gives the TM59 Incinerate, and a Special Desert Badge, one of the optional league badges.
Appearance: When he's at the gym he usually dresses minimally. Even in the scorching sun he goes shirtless, showing off his bulging muscles. To any ordinary human this would be really stupid and could cause serious harm such as heat stroke, exhaustion, dehydration and sun burns. But his skin is tanned from exposure and his body conditioned over his entire life gradually to be able to cope with such heat and sun strength. He is also naturally a bit dark skinned, which helps against the sun. His white flowing pants are usually tucked into ankle bands, and he has bare feet. He also wears wrist bands and a head band, the head band keeping sweat out of his eyes.

He has brown eyes and black short hair. His face is fairly lean, but not long.

Pokemon:

Golem Lvl 48
His golem is usually the pokemon he brings out first, though this can sometimes change depending on the opponent. In the severe heat its large rock body can reach high surface temperatures. This gives him the added effect of being able to deter his opponent because his skin is too hot to touch.
His favourite moves are rollout, knock down and earthquake. His least favourite move is explosion, but his trainer will sometimes resort to it.

Ninetales Lvl 53
Ninetales is the special attacker of the team. She tends to take advantage of the constant sunny day and her same-type attack bonus, so you might see her attacking even water types with her flames. If all else fails though, she may also use extrasensory.
Her favourite moves are fire blast, flamethrower, fire spin and extrasensory. Her least favourite move is grudge, but her trainer may resort to it.

Torkoal Lvl 57
He may seem slow and cumbersome, but he is in his element in the dry heat and a lot stronger than he looks. With constant sunny day in effect (unless someone uses a weather changing move, of course) its attacks are very powerful, especially eruption and incinerate. It also likes to be quite defensive, increasing its longevity in battle and its stats, such as with iron defence, protect (works best when opponent is burned) and amnesia.
Its favourite moves are heatwave, eruption, incinerate and iron defence. It most disliked flail, but it can be useful as its HP gets low.

Camerupt Lvl 62
Grant prefers to save his best until last, and that is camerupt. She will use a combination of physical and special moves, rock, ground and fire type, as well as normal type.
Her favourite moves are earthquake, earth power, rock slide and incinerate. She doesn't have any least favourite attacks, though she is less enthusiastic about take down.

[Some rules and notes:
If you try to catch a pokemon, end the post where you throw the ball. I will reply to let you know if it's caught and what level it is.
For now you are free to do as you like.
Remember that in battles, you're not restricted to four moves. You may use any move that your pokemon would have learned up to that level.
Everyone must post at least once before we move on. If not we move on in two weeks anyway. There is no limit on how many posts you can make during this time.
You may interact with other players.]

The trip had taken a considerably short amount of time; at least from David's point of view, since he had never gone to Hoenn before, nor one of the surrounding islands in the archipelago. You'd think an interregional trip would take at least a few hours.

Something else he noticed was the sudden change in the temperature. With the increased exposure to sunlight - or so it seemed, since he had to put the hat on just to make sure he didn't get burned on the head, the temperature had increased, and the only thing that kept him and Mightyena fresh was the ship striding into the waves and occasionally splashing water to his face, along with the suddenly warmer high sea breeze, which hadn't lost its salty characteristic.

But there it was, and the first thing that met his eyes were tall palm trees and pure white buildings, rising from the seashore. It was surprisingly modern - much more than even Saffron or Goldenrod, for that matter.

It was when he was about to move to the prow that he heard Robin call and brief everyone on what they were doing on the island and how they were free to do as they wanted for the day.

"Wow... a hotel..." He commented to Mightyena by his side. "Sounds like the Crystalline Silver back at uncle Rover's island. At least we have a place to stay, right?" The Pokémon simply nodded in reply, eager to look at the city again.

But a secret location... and an ancient key in the desert... He added in his mind. Something tells me we aren't here just to protect a team.

He suddenly felt like looking around. He had, in fact, seen several other trainers and Pokémon back at the Vermilion pier, but he had never gotten the chance to see their faces - and seeing how they would spend the next month together, he should at least take a look.

Most seemed to be his age, with two girls and five to six men; Mightyena also studied them, looking at their Pokémon and them, taking his own notes in his mind.

"Hey, looks like we're almost there. Get ready." David spoke down, giving up on the trainers for the landscape, leaving the Pokémon looking fixedly at the others.

((OOC: Erm, I suppose letting these occasional notes is permitted, right?))

It took quite a while for Harry to get used to the temperature. It sure was hot, even the back of his knees are sweating. He haven't felt this hot since he climbed a volcano back in Hoenn. He can hear Robin talking, but he can't really understand him. He thinks he's getting sick by this too much heat.

He was relieved after Robin stopped talking. He had to ask around to understand what Robin said though. After that, he walked around the beach, looking very worried.

"With this temperature, I don't know if Da'd can survive." he though to himself. "I should probably at least check if he can cope with it, I'm sure Sharm can withstand this heat. She can fly anyways." He brought out one of his PokéBall. It's blue and it looks like it has fins on top. It was a Great Ball. "Come on out Da'd!" he yelled. A beam of red light came out from the ball, forming the shape of a Glalie at the end.

"Glay!" said the Pokémon who came out of the ball. "Da'd, do you think you can survive in this temperature?" asked Harry. Da'd was silent. It sure felt like he was not well. The Pokémon nodded after a few seconds of being silent. "Are you sure? If you can't stand this heat I can always send you back to dad." said Harry. "GLALIE!" the Pokémon yelled, with its head moving left to right. "Fine, I was just making sure." said Harry. He kept Da'd out of his Pokéball for the rest of the walk towards the town.

Just as they were nearing the town, a Meowth appeared. It appeared to be angry and wanted to battle. "It's been a while since we've last battled, Da'd! This should warm us up!" he said, facing Da'd. The Pokémon was looking ready to fight. "Ok, let's ready ourselves and let the Meowth do the first move!" said Harry. The Meowth heard what he said, so it ran fast towards Da'd bringing out it claws. "That's Fury Swipe! I remember it when dad used it against Da'd when we first met him." Harry thought to himself. "Right, Da'd, dodge it and use Ice Beam!" The Pokémon did what he was instructed to do. He dodged the attack, but he seemed to obtain a little injury in the side. Nevertheless, the Pokémon continued to attack. A blue ball of light started to form just outside of Da'd's mouth. The ball of light turned into a beam and hit the Meowth directly. "A direct hit!" Harry shouted with glee. "I think we should capture it, we're a few Pokémon short anyways." Harry said, looking at Da'd. Da'd nodded. He got out one empty Pokéball and yelled "Go Pokéball!" throwing it towards the Meowth. He became nervous as the ball hit the Pokémon. He crossed his fingers, hoping that he would succeed.

1#. First Steps

The boat trip was remarkably uneventful compared to usual life across the Kanto region. Melody had allowed all of her Pokemon out for a while on the boat, even if the area they had to roam wasn't exactly ideal. Still, it must have been better than being held prisoner inside one of those stuffy Poke-balls. Violet seemed to almost disappear instantly, and was no where to be seen for the majority of the trip, only appearing by popping her head up from behind something to search the area, and they vanishing again without a trace. Knight was a little more obvious, but still rather annoying as the dry sea air was starting to bother him, and all the Kabutops could think about was simply leaping into the ocean and swimming all the way to the Saliplan islands. Melody allowed him to swim for a while, and was surprised that he could just about keep up with the boat. Soon enough though, he grew bored, and was quickly brought back up to land by Melody. She brushed her finger against the button on the Pokéball, causing Knight to be thrown from the cool ocean water into the tiny container. However, Melody once again tapped the button, causing the Shellfish Pokemon to simply be thrown back out again. Knight shook himself to remove the excess water, before simply resting in the sunlight, which was crystal clear away from all of civilisation. So was the water as a matter of fact, which shone a luminous blue. Melody turned up to the sky, and examined the endless abyss of blue.

'Not a cloud in the sky...' she thought, as Melody was almost thrown overboard by the force of being nudged in the back of the shoulder. She turned to see the source, only to find the ever-familiar Ponyta.

Ashva, being slightly more timid than usual, stuck close to her trainer, which was perfectly fine for the majority of the trip. However, as the boat moved towards the Saliplan islands, and the comfortably cool Kanto climate erupted into a spiral of fire and sticky heat. It was almost unbearable, and Melody could feel her skin drying in the hot sun. She quickly rummaged through her bag, and pulled out a bottle of sun-cream. Rapidly throwing on a layer, she relaxed a little. Melody was quite fair-skinned, and she knew well enough just how easily she burned. A little protection from that wouldn't hurt anyone. Unless of course someone was allergic to sun-cream, and somehow, Melody doubted that. The intense flames from Ashva only made the feeling worsen, and it was only a matter of time before the Fire-type realised this, and trotted off and around the boats hull, leaving Melody alone with a sleeping Kabutops. Still, she valued the chance at peace and quiet, something she wasn't quite used to. Why didn't anything interesting happen on this boat? Knowing her it had already crashed into an ice-berg like Titanic had, but she just hadn't noticed it.

Glancing around just in case that really had happened, she sighed in both relief and boredom. Nope, not a single thing interesting had happened. "Why does this trip have to take so~oo long?" thought Melody, although she failed to realise she had actually said those words.

No answer, at least not one that Melody had heard. Giving up, she sat herself down next to Knight, at began to pat his thick hide. The Kabutops began to fidget at first, but didn't wake. Melody was surprised that his shell stilled hadn't dried yet, and was soaked in the cool ocean waves. Knight seemed to be enjoying his nap in the warm sun. At least someone was enjoying the boat-ride...

♦

As the boat fell to a halt, Melody's somewhat pessimistic personality on the ship erupted into joy. The trip from Vermilion to Saliplan was finally over, and Melody could finally get something interesting done. She was rather glad she'd added the extra layer of sun-cream, otherwise she would have melted in such hot sun. It would just have to be something she'd have to get used to over the course of the stay. Melody didn't complain despite how much she wanted to, and simply bat away a tiny bead of sweat on her forehead.

Still, the second thing other than the heat which caught Melody's attention was the scenery at the docks. There wasn't a cloud in the sky, leaving the sun – even though it was barely past dawn – the envelop the area in a blazing array of colours. Tropical trees, most of which Melody had never even heard about were dotted around the area of the town which lay ahead. It looked surprisingly modern, and most of the buildings were bathed in light colours, presumably to reflect heat and keep the insides cool. Cycads and palm trees made beautiful decoration to the town and provided well-needed shade from the hot sun. It was a wonderful sight, even Melody could admit that. Still, she would prefer the mild climate of Cerulean City any day. At least there it rained once in a while, and by just a brief glance at the area and the sheet heat, Melody guessed rain wasn't all that common here.

Shielding her eyes, Melody moved over to Ashva and tapped her on the side of the neck. "C'mon Ashy, it's time to see the sights!"

The Ponyta nodded, and then whinnied slightly, which seemed to be calling the other Pokemon of which Melody owned. Knight opened his right eye cautiously and Violet appeared from further inside the boat, which both of them clambering over to their trainer.

Melody glanced at her three Pokemon. Ashva seemed to enjoy the blazing heat, and if anything it just cheered her up, which was a good thing considering she was usually slightly timid. Knight seemed a little out of breath, and his rock-shell was almost painful to touch, but other than that he seemed fine. Melody would just have to find him a source of water every once in a while. Violet seemed to be taking it the worse, with her obviously wanting something to drink now that she was burning up in the direct sunlight. Still, she didn't look too bad. The Bulbasaur must have been given a little boost by the symbiotic plant which rested on its back. In other words, Melody's Pokemon were fairing rather well in the heat, although something told her that Violet still wouldn't have the energy for a full battle until it cooled down a little, or at least the Grass-type back used to it.

Flicking her wrist, Knight and Violet returned to their Pokéballs, leaving Melody and Ashva to move off of the boat and onto solid land. A quick register was taken to make sure everyone was off of the boat, although Melody was barely listen to who said it, or what was being said, only replying to her name. Melody did however take notice of a loud cawing sound which came from the skies. She turned up, to see a large figure. It was very, very bird-like, although the sunlight made it little more than a silhouette, meaning it was impossible to distinguish from another bird Pokemon. A Pidgeotto maybe? A Fearow? No, it was too big for the first and not big enough for the later. Either way, it took no notice of Melody or the group, simply crossing the skies, probably looking for food or water. Still, it was an interesting addition to the lonesome sun which was really all that was apparent across the sky at the moment.

Robin – one of those who had asked Melody's name when she had arrived in Vermilion – began to go through a seemingly rehearsed speech about what the group should do with the day. He said that today would simply be a free-day. A chance to prepare for anything we may come across and generally get used to the surroundings. Melody thought of that as a good plan. Any chance to explore was a good idea to her. Robin continued to go through what they were meant to be doing over here on the island, although Melody was once again barely paying attention. He said something of a key, and something about another island. Melody just hoped she wouldn't have to go on ANOTHER boat ride. The first one was agony. Still, she had to whole day to relax now.

Brushing a thin strand of red hair from her face, Melody headed of the the city, Ashva following close behind. The Ponyta whinnied occasionally, or turned at a sudden movement once or twice, but Melody simply patted the creature on the next to calm her down.

"Ashva, relax. It's not like we're gunna run into anything here in the middle of town." Obviously, Melody's luck has never truly worked like that.

Taking another step forward, it was clear that whatever she had stepped on wasn't the usual path. "Ekans!" the thing hissed, as Melody turned down to see it.

The creature was about as long as Melody's arm span, and was an almost poisonous shade of purple. It lacked limbs of any kind, and its tail was ringed with yellow, as was its belly and neck. Melody knew this creature well enough, as they were common in the grass-lands west of Cerulean. An Ekans. Nasty creatures, that when adults had a bite as painful as it was deadly. You could only take solace in the fact that most Ekans living near Cerulean were young, and their poison was fairly undeveloped. Melody just hoped that this was one of those Ekans. Melody jumped back a foot or two, but the Ekans continued to hiss angrily, and then slithered towards Melody, ready to attack. It clearly wasn't happy.

Melody glanced at it with shock, but then the feeling was replaced with bemusement. "Ok then, this could be fun. Ashva, use Agility to move out of the way, and then Stomp it!"

Ashva nodded, and waited for the Ekans to strike. The snake threw itself forward, clearly preparing to use Wrap. Ashva quickly side-stepped the attack taking full advantage of the agility, and then raised itself onto its hind legs, with its front ones flailing slightly. Then, it began to slam its hooves down. The dazed Ekans glanced at the attack, and then rolled to the side, dodging the attack much the same as Ashva had done. The Snake Pokemon raised its head, and spat a disgusting purple liquid at Ashva, which acted as an effective defensive manoeuvre. Melody knew the attack as Acid, although the Ponyta seemed somewhat unharmed by the attack; luckily. Ashva shook her head trying to remove the acid, and it soon fell off, although she was met with a second attack. Tiny purple darts were sprayed from the Ekans' mouth this time, each one razor sharp like a knife, and each one probably capable of poisoning the target. Thankfully, the Ekans wasn't the only one who could pull off that trick.

"Ashva," yelled Melody. "Fend it off with Ember!"

Ashva let the flames on her body flared up for a second, before a rapid spray of fiery cinders smashed into the oncoming array of toxic spears. The two attacks collided, with neither taking an advantage over the other. That didn't matter though. It was a defensive move, and had done its job well. Melody raised her hand statically, signalling to Ashva to change the attack. The Ponyta nodded, knowing exactly what its trainer meant, and the flamed along her backs almost vanished for a second, but then erupted even stronger than ever. The weak flames from the Ember transformed into the much more powerful Fire Spin, changing into a spiral of heat. It broke the stale-mate between the two combatants and smashed into the Ekans, causing it to fly back in both surprise, and from the force of the attack.

Ashva smiled at the attack. "Pon... yta!" she cheered, at the flames along her back and tail returned to the usual soothing flicker. Little did she know this battle was far from over.

"Use Take down before it can get back up again," ordered Melody, although it sounded more like a request than a battle order.

Charging forward, the Fire Horse Pokemon did as it was told, slamming into the downed Ekans and trampling it with her feet. It was clear now that the Ekans had been defeated. A win, which was a good way to start Melody's travels across this island. But then again, Ekans never really were the most feared of opponents, unless of course they managed to poison one of your Pokemon. Luckily, that hadn't happened so far. Still, all victories were a good thing, and Melody tapped the button on the Pokéball which usually held Ashva. The Pokemon was thrown inside, leaving Melody all alone in this settlement. But Ashva deserved a short break from that. Melody grinned to herself.

Polio stepped off the ship onto the port of Saliplan Island. It seemed a lot warmer than what he was used to despite all the horrid disasters he'd experienced throughout his life. Even Sunny who was fluttering by beside him was struggling to stay up beside him, due to the heat of the place. Polio of course could see that Sunny was struggling to stay up.

"Come on Sunny, I can see you're not going to fare well here, so you can stay in your Pokeball until we get to the hotel."

"Volbeat beat!" Sunny replied back, as a shining red light came out of his Pokeball, transporting him back into it for now. You could easily tell Polio was sweating due to the weather conditions. It wasn't that pleasant to him just walking to the hotel, despite the place only being maybe 200 metres away from the port where the boat landed. Polio could see he was getting behind everyone and decided to walk a little faster towards the hotel.

"Wait, Polio!" Robin said to him. "There's no need to rush to the hotel."

"But I've fallen behind the other people and want to catch up" Polio replied. "Why is there no rush anyway?" Polio was suspicious about Robins' actions to tell him about the rush.

"Well I was gonna announce this at the hotel, but there's going to be a leisure day today, so you can relax and do whatever you want today, look around for a new Pokemon, or check out the Gym Leader if you wanted to." Robin answered back. Polio never noticed the abundance in Pokemon, especially of all the Meowth, Ekans and Skorupi, and even the Gym, which seems to be well within his sights now since he was focused on the Hotel and just being able to unpack and stuff.

He had finally arrived at the hotel and was relieved. The hotel was a fairly nice size with stairs and an elevator close to the entrance, and lots of air-conditioning and decided to let Sunny out of his Pokeball. A white light out of the Pokeball took the form of a Volbeat.

"Volbeat Volbeat!" Sunny chanted when coming out of the Pokeball. he then layed on the nearby seat next to Polio with relief that it wasn't really that hot in the hotel than it was out there. After refreshing with a new cold bottle of water, having unpacked all his things into his room, he thought he'd go out into Saliplan Island to do a little exploringm since no one was really at the hotel yet, apart from all the supervisors of the trip.

Polio, alongside Sunny started walking out to see the world of Saliplan. In the distance he could see a trainer who seemed to be on the same boat as him with a Glalie battling a Meowth, and another trainer with a Ponyta battling an Ekans. He could just see Sunny and the fire in it's eyes that he was motivated to battle anytime soon, and thought that he should probably go out and find a new Pokemon. Being a passive Pokemon battler, and not really liking to battle for the sake of just hurting innocent Pokemon, he would just walk around the place looking for something special.

"CAAAAACC!"
Polio hears a shriek from a Cacnea when it seems that some Barujina are picking at the poor little guy. Polio runs over to see what's going on, with the other trainers just taking a glimpse of what was happening as well, with the Cacnea's scream being so audible and loud. Aside from that, Polio still hears the Cacnea shrieking in pain.
"Sunny quickly! Use Zen Headbutt!" Sunny charges at the Barujina to try and scare them off from the poor Cacnea while it's head glows blue. "Vollll BEAT!" Sunny impacts against the Barujina, but it doesn't seem to do much, other than lure the Barujina away from the Cacnea and over to Sunny. he sees Sunny panicking and doesn't know what to do, since Zen Headbutt was it's only attacking move and that didn't seem to work against the Barujina.

"Cac-nea! Hhnnnngggg CacCacCacCacCacCacCacCacCac" Polio can see out of the corner in his eye Cacnea's thorns starting to glow. Cacnea's going to use Pin Missile! It launches out many pins at the Barujina, which seem to work, as the Barujina seem to be in pain, and fly off into the sky. Cacnea then seems to look like it wants to challenge Sunny to a battle. Cacnea really looks like it has no sympathy for Sunny, and doesn't feel like he needed help at all. Sunny being eager to battle and all, Polio accepts the challenge and prepares Sunny for battle.

"Alright Sunny, start out with a Tail Glow!" Polio commanded Sunny. His tail seems to glow brightly which seems to distract Cacnea, as well as give Sunny a warm, fuzzy feeling inside. The glowing ends, which it seems like Cacnea advances to a Pin Missile. Cacnea's arms glow with a luminescent green and pins shoot out from them.

"Sunny, Protect!" Polio yells out to Sunny, in which a blue wall appears before him, which looks like a force field of sorts. Polio does seem to notice that this was all a distraction for Cacnea as you catch a glimpse of it's crown starting to glow, and little specs of light seeping throughout it's body.

"Oh no. It looks like a Solarbeam!" Polio thought to himself, and because of the weather you could tell it would be much more powerful than usual.

"Quickly Sunny, use Moonlight!" Sunny chants with a Vol and a Beat and the sky seems quite darker since it covers up the sun. Solarbeam seems to be cancelled out though, which is a good thing.

"Sunny, charge with Zen Headbutt now!" Sunny flies forward with it's blue-glowing head and hits the Cacnea directly. The cacnea seems quite weak now, as he starts to huff and puff from exhaustion.

"Alright, time for this. Go, Pokeball!" Polio throws a Pokeball which was hanging on the right side of his hip, and manages to hit the Cacnea with a direct hit. The ball opens, glowing red and the Cacnea being warped inside. Polio is wrecked with nerves, just waiting to see what will happen with the Pokeball, and most importantly, the Cacnea.

It was rather interesting to see how everyone started to scatter, some to the city, some to fields; although he couldn't really say anything about it, as he had taken a similar path as soon as he stepped out of the ship: away from it.

A quick register was the only thing that kept him from strolling down the port and towards the immediate city under a scorching sun.

"This reminds me of Olivine..." He distractedly commented, turning his head up to the sky with hands in the pockets. He didn't see it, but Mightyena nodded in reply.
There was a kind of bird flying around in circles above them; it was definitely a foreign species of Pokémon, judging from its shape and overall aspect from below, and especially its movement pattern; it was too big to be a Pelipper, and too small to be another kind that made such patterns.
So he couldn't resist taking a picture; with Pokégear at hand, he tried to zoom in as much as possible, but ended up with a blurred picture instead.

Without realizing, they had started stepping on paved terrain. It was a distinct change from the dirt and the grassy terrains of the Seviis and most of Kanto; he had spent several years in those two regions, most of the time in places away from society - so it was natural that he now flocked to it like Beedrills to honey.
People went by him, and he went by people; not a word was exchanged, only looks - and very uninterested ones. He didn't feel like accidentally locking eyes with a trainer, especially when he had a Pokémon by his side. For Mew's sake, he had just arrived from a boat trip. Why would he throw himself at battles right away?

With that same mindset, he sat down on a bench directly in front of a large mall-looking building (if the big bold letters on the front reading MALL weren't enough) and started browsing the pictures in the Pokégear, searching for some to delete so he could have some space to- you get the drift: the usual tourist stuff.

Of course, Mightyena didn't share his enthusiasm for free space in machines; instead, he was fixedly staring at the people who went by, the Pokémon in the sky, and the Pokémon in the gardens.
The latter ones caught his attention; he left his trainer and slowly walked through a bush he had seen shaking to meet a Cacnea on the other side.
The two stared at each other for a moment, both confused and shocked.
"Cnea?" The other Pokémon growled, intrigued.

"There! This should be enough for..." He paused to look at the free space, frowning after reading it. "...a couple of pictures. Damn it!" He cursed upon touching the overheated black metallic armrest. "What's with the colour anyway?!"
"Meow?" Something suddenly cried by his side, startling and making him leap to the other side of the bench to grasp the armrest and get burned again.
"GAH!! Watch it!" He instantly exclaimed. Upon a closer look, he saw it was just a Pokémon that was standing by his side, its golden coin shining proudly beneath the sunlight, the two paws raised in front of it to bestow some kind of cuteness upon it. Whatever it was, it was working, as David started patting it on the head. "Hey... where's your trainer?"
Pff, trainer? It's obvious this guy's a stray.

But the Meowth just looked up and closed its eyes, seemingly enjoying the pats.

"Hm, you're definitely a wild Pokémon." He commented, looking around in search of a potential trainer. He then noticed the Meowth had taken some kind of interest on the Pokégear strapped to the slingbag, and had started playing with it, eventually detatching the machine and messing with the buttons. "Whoa, whoa, slow down! That's not a toy!"

"Meow!" It snickered, turning away to keep messing with the Pokégear.

"I said: THAT'S NOT A TOY!" David suddenly snapped, lunging himself forward to grab the Meowth, but only managing a couple of scratches on the face and another snicker from the now fugitive Meowth. "MIGHTYENA! GET THAT MEOWTH!"

Upon hearing the call, the Mightyena interrupted the staring contest with the Cacnea to turn and see its trainer scrapped on the face and a Meowth joyfully skipping into the mall with a blue Pokégear in its hands.

"Come on!!" David called again as he ran into the mall and shoved the people aside.
Mightyena was the first to catch the trail of scent (mostly garbage and dirt), and immediately followed it amidst snarls and jumps over Pokémon and people.
David, on the other hand, could only try to keep up by continuing to randomly move people away.
They went up stairs and down elevators, into stores and through the long lines to restaurants and cinemas, but they didn't give up, not even when the Meowth infiltrated itself in the security rooms and David was forced to find the Pokémon on his own - which he did, behind a control table.

They - rather, Mightyena did - eventually got to a store, a relatively empty one, where the Meowth was in plain sight; Mightyena took the chance to dash and leap at it, succesfully making it trip and fall over, throwing the Pokégear to slide across the floor; it was now David's turn to dash and slide towards the item, grabbing it before it stopped underneath a merchandise shelf.

"You're on little rascal, you know that?" He commented to the Meowth, who was still under Mightyena's front paws, while composing the hat - which he almost lost twice - on his head. With the Pokémon secured, David turned and started heading for a policeman. "I ought to go call the security and... Mightyena!!"

He turned upon hearing the Pokémon bark all of a sudden, seeing that the Meowth had freed itself by Scratching its captor. It was noticeably infuriated now, as its claws were completely drawn out and ready to strike, and its breath was quick and deep.

"Looks like it wants a battle!" David remarked with a certain pleasure, not minding his surroundings; the people in the store started to form a circle around them, leaving enough space for a battlefield to take shape. Even the security guards stood back to enjoy the show. "Alright, Mightyena! Body Slam him!"

"RAAAAAWWRR!" He fiercely roared before running against the Meowth, who just barely got hit.
"He's fast, but we're faster! Scary Face, then Bite!"

Once more, Mightyena built up his strength and howled at the cat while showing an enraged face, which apparently worked as the Meowth was momentarily stunned, but quickly recovered and repeatedly slashed the Pokémon, the last one being the most powerful, enough to send Mightyena sliding back for a bit.

But Mightyena had its plan: with the gale of slashes finished, he sprinted towards his opponent and viciously bit him on the arm before tossing it into the air and performing Body Slam once more.

The Meowth, however, wasn't finished, and as soon as i hit the ground, it ran up to Mightyena and stopped for a split second, throwing a straight on sucker punch that left Mightyena somewhat confused about what had happened.

"Faint Attack, Mightyena! Don't let your guard down; finish it off with Body Slam!"

Using their proximity, Mightyena pounced against the Meowth, flinging it through the crowds and away from them, supposedly fainted or uncapable of battling anymore.

"Good job!" David congratulated the Pokémon, who wagged its tail in contentment. "Come on, we should get those wounds healed."

And so the two left in the middle of the crowd's applauses; the guards could apparently care less, as they had moved away and returned to their positions, leaving David and Mightyena to run to one of the Pokémon Center-like shops in the interior of the mall.

Looks like we've warmed up.
