Iran's Nuclear Program

Iran has been in the news the past few weeks due to tensions with the West over their alleged Nuclear Program, as well as the fiery rhetoric of war from both Tehran and the West. Recent sanctions have crippled Iranian exports, and have deepened the divide.

What do you think should happen to Iran, if they continue down the path of uranium enrichment and if they continue to threaten Israel?

Should the governments of the world put forth harsher economic sanctions, or should western nations intervene militarily, if the situation worsens? Would Iran use a nuclear weapon against Israel? And, does Israel have the right to retaliate with weapons of their own?

    Discuss.

    Black man kills white man.
White man was a KKK member who just got a gun.
Black man decided to preemptively 'solve' this issue before it became a real threat.

This is the exact same situiation, except smaller in scale. Same logic, killing people because they might be a threat in the future.

If we support Israel attacking/killing Iranian citizens over the fact that they MIGHT be a threat, would we also support the gays, blacks, and Jews deciding to kill all KKK members because they MIGHT also be a threat?

The last thing we need is for our allies to drag us into another war.

Don't the Israelis know that attacking Iran will only cause more hatred and give them a even greater desire for nuclear weapons?

While Israel is a vital ally, I do think they need to be reigned in at times. Rash action is ill advised in this part of the globe. You can defend your sovereign interests, yes, but the over reaction here will spread and start bloody and terrible war if they aren't careful.

To defend requires something to defend from. Israel attacking Iran over its nuclear program isn't defence unless Iran attacks first.

If we followed 'preemptive defense' (Which is what Israel's strategy is) then we (The US) would have destroyed most/all of the middle east, China, and Russia already.

With the increasing threats by Iran to attack, and a possibility of an oil embargo much worse than 1973, it is apparent that eventually, nuclear war will be inevitable. Problem is, regardless of whether they actually have nukes or not, they've been threatening to nuke Israel and the United States since the Islamic Revolution that overthrew the Shah in 1979.

We got entangled in a war in Iraq over weapons of mass destruction (which were removed long before the war even started), but the real reason was for imperialism and to fulfill a certain political agenda, and the result has been nothing but disaster. The Vietnam War, which was supposedly about stopping the spread of Communism, turned out to be disastrous as well.
Imperialism and nation-building aren't going to work, period. America (or Israel) could invade every other country in the world and still get attacked.
