TV Iron Fist Discussion Thread

So, the whole series just dropped today. Let's have a discussion thread, shall we?

Perhaps we should also mark spoilers, and what episode those spoilers come from as well.

As it dropped today I'd basically be in favour of just not speaking about it for 3 days - and i'm one of the biggest fans of Marvel's Netflix offerings. But yeah, spoiler tags are definitely necessary.

Finished the series the other day.

Spoiler:

It is the weakest of the Netflix-Marvel partnerships. Bland main character. Bland fight scenes. Lots of secondary main characters you don't care about like Ward and Joy. Weird pacing - slow a lot of the time, but then sometimes they seem to skip ahead too quickly like Colleen's sudden switch from berating her student for fighting and then going to a cage fight herself.

I dunno. With Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage I wanted to binge and with this show I watched one or two episodes and was like "that's enough for now" and I think that's the biggest indicator that they slipped up on this series.

I agree its by far the worst one yet. I feel like all of the characters were under-developed - I honestly didn't give a **** when Danny fought his friend, because we barely knew anything except he was the only person from Kun'lun that he referred to by name. Also why the hell would Joy go to The Hand? I actually binged it faster than any of the other series - but that's a bad thing. Luke Cage and Daredevil occasionally made me want to just take a break and revel in what I'd just watched, and Jessica Jones was sometimes just too dark to spend all day watching whereas this was just kinda...there, on my tv not really commanding my attention.

Also, for a martial arts show, the only memorable moment is the one from the trailer where he punches the floor in slow-motion with the Iron Fist. I think that might be its biggest crime - I'd be able to overlook its many weaknesses if the fights were entertaining, like in the weaker episodes of Daredevil.
