Is Ash "Special"?

...Or does every trainer encounter many legends on their journeys?

I've always wondered this. I always had this mentality that Pokemon isn't one of those "chosen one" shows where the main character is the almighty hero. Do other trainers have their own adventures with legends every once in a while? xP

Maybe the Pokemon world's just a really corrupt place...

I just assumed that Ho-Oh chose him as a worthy trainer in the start of his journey (willing to protect Pikachu, even if it meant risking his life), thus branding him, attracting the legendaries to test him, etc.

Ash has a typical case of Main Character Syndrome, every main character experiences things that others characters don't, like the back to back to back to back influx of him seeing a freaking legendary once every week. I'm looking at you Heatran and Shaymin and the Emotion Trio (or whatever Azelf, Uxie and Mesprite call themselves) D:<

I personally don't like Ash xD
But yeah, he is the main character so it's always him who is encountering Legendaries (too many, too many times) which kinda is getting me more and more bored >__>
I'd like to see more Jimmy and all P:

    Who's Jimmy :O
    Ash is special, he has the Aaura {Did I spell that wrong?}
He is also the choosen one according to movie 2.

    Jimmy/Ethan/Gold whatever xD

And this is something I don't like too, Ash having (as a hasard) the Aura in him >_o
And he's 10 Years old FOREVER D: -boring-

    Lol.

Yeah, there's only really been major legendary plots with Jimmy and Raikou in Chronicles, and that's it.

Ash has been "The Chosen One" fighting alongside Lugia coz a talking Slowking told him to.

He's able to use "Aura" with this special Lucario (although, ironically, he forgot that when he met Riley).

I mean, he's even had the power to stop Giratina AND Arceus (although Dialga and Palkia knew better)

    No. Lol
Well, yes loads of people encounter many ledgends on their journeys. Everyone who has the game I mean lol.
Well maybe ash is a little special but thats just because the writers make him special :p

I'm not sure if that's a valid point. The prophecy in the Japanese version did not referred to a "superior" trainer.

Ash is not special, he has the power of the triforce and that's how he defeated Nemesis, as you can see everybody can do that >_<

well in my opinion in the movie Pokemon 2000 ash is "special", but in the other movies he is not actually the "main" character, because May is like "special" in the movie Prince of the sea and what's the probability for two "special" persons to know each other by accident?

Was that a mix of Legend of Zelda and Sailor Moon R? XD

But, the Ho-oh theory mentioned before does make sense. And, in concordence with the movie, he was Prophesized, so meh. Oooor, its anime, and they are way to lazy to make a new main carachter/storyline.
