Is Pokemon getting too predictable?

...I absolutely loved Golden sun and Final Fantasy Tactics. It would be incredible if Nintendo developed a parallel series of Pokemon games for (dare I say... smarter?) audiences who prefer fast-paced, complex battles with vivid animation. In that regard, Golden Sun was nearly perfect. FFTA was a bit slow, but of course it's great to see your characters spread out on a large battlefield. Imagine how much fun it would be to see the vines coming out of Bulbasaur's back and reaching toward the enemy as it uses Vine Whip, and watching Charizard swoop down out of the sky after a turn hovering in the air above the fray... getting to target enemies from the angle of your choice, placing area-affecting attacks such as Surf, watching the entire screen shake as Groudon spawns a savage earthquake -- that would be AWESOME.

One problem that comes with such a game is the amount of memory needed to store the different animations and the 386+ characters. Maybe with the advent of better, faster handhelds, it will be possible.

Unfortunately, Pokemon is getting a bit boring as-is.

You should be able to make certain in-game choices that will affect your destiny as a trainer. Implement KOTOR or Fable storyline elements to make the Pokemon games much less linear and more of your decisions forging the character's destiny...
I agree with him, it wold be nice if you could mebbe join Team rocket or something.

That would make the pokemon craze bigger than ever!
So, let's face it, pokemon is dying out, it would be nice if nintendo and gamefreak would put out a game like that

I think it should have a FF tactics style Battle system! And Have the trainer be there too! and let the trainer be able to be attacked if you were battling Bad people! But Yeah, Take it to a diffrent line of pokemon games. *Ponders* Hmmm Would an elite team of PC peoples Create a game? And make it more storyline-ish (-_o)

I think they just need to change the scope of the systems. See Need to go Above Level 100; Need to Transmigrate for more details.

Just how is it "smart" to dislike the Pok?mon battle system because it doesn't have the best graphics ever? Sure, I'd love to see more interesting battle animations, but give the guys a break... they've got 386 Pok?mon, all of which they'd have to animate using each of the thirty or so attacks that each of them can learn. It's not just about memory, it's the time it would take to make all those animations.

And are you saying "smart" audiences don't like Pok?mon's battle style? OK, I'm the dumbest person on Earth, then. Fine with me. -_- But they'd better not change the battling system. Sure, add to it, like they did with two-on-two battles, Natures, EV's, etc., but don't change it. If it's changed, I'm going to be the one starting the "Bring Pok?mon back like it was supposed to be!" petition.

Is it getting too predictable? Well, I'd have to ask in return, what is 'too' predictable?

I always enjoy a good battle, and beating gym leaders does often fill me with a sense of satisfaction. Maybe I can say it like this: I can calculate the experience for my Pokemon to get to the next level, and I can formulate its projected stats, but there's a sense of pride in the actual event taking place.

Could it use a bit of unpredictability? I'd say so. I'm interested in some of the things that people are working on/discussing in the Game Development forum, as I'd be very interested in seeing Pokemon taken to a different playing field. Starting out with a level 50 Pokemon, increased AI intelligence, non-linear plot, multifaceted, /interlaced/ plot.... customization. That kind of thing piques my interest.

I don't have Ruby or Sapphire because I haven't the monetary reserves to fund GBA + game paks, and I'm quite happy with my Red/Blue/Gold versions. (In all honesty, I would've been happy if Gold/Silver hadn't come out; I wasn't even finished training my RBY team at the time it was released.) If there was something fantastically different with it, then I might very well. With DS, I'll have to wait and see.

i think they should make a new p.c game
with the ability to go online and do thngs like:
trade with other people
battle other people
random events happen

that owuld rock :)

It is getting too predictible....... I would like somthing like you could join other teams, and as for the linking with other games, they should actually appear in a certain part of the game, wherever they are. Like say you were at Pewter and your friend was at Saffron in front of the gym. you fly there and you find him there walking around. Oh and Smithy boy, a PC game aint gonna happen cuz Microsoft would not let it.

MOre like Nintendo wouldn't let it.The last thing Nintendo would want is A camputer game version of somthing of theirs.

You ask too much of them Dark Link. To have such an intricate connection can only be done on teh internet. If even there. I have yet to see any system do what you've just asked Nintendo to do with POkemon. It just isn't done. Do you realize all the work , money, resources, and people power that would have to go into it just to make the game as intricate as your asking?

I've noticed most Pokemon have very similar stats and movesets. =P But I agree there needs to be a fresh change in the gameplay such as increased AI (or at least have the gyms and trainers be up to your level; for example when your squad is around the 70's everyone will be around that level), and they should make breeding far less tedious. Perhaps a Dragon Warrior Monsters breeding system would make Pokemon even better. Since in DWM even though you lose both parents you get an egg and can hatch it anytime. The baby gets both the parents moves (not right away though), and sometimes you can get new super powered monsters. Not to forget both parents get their stats get passed down to the child.

That's just my two cents.

This is a thread of hopes and dreams. Noone of these will happen, I just said it would be cool. You know, it was only a idea, not that I was asking for reality.
