[Let's Go] Is the Magicarp you buy on Route 4 special?

I don't like the nature of the Magicarp I bought and I saved my game already. I'm stuck with it and it's too late. Can I just catch a regular Magicarp in the water? Is the one you buy on Route 4 anything special or is it just like a regular Magicarp you get in the water?

I believe the bought Magikarp has higher IVs. Basically it's on average stronger than a random non-chained Magikarp you just catch in the wild. But ultimately, whether you use it is up to you; IVs don't really matter that much in-game.

Well I bought it and had a Gyarados before the 2nd Gym. Does that sound worth it to you? :)
