Is there an item which increases the encounter rate of psychic OR types?

    My boyfriend is attempting to find a modest smoochum, and while he's up to 14 non-modest smoochums as of current, he's having a lot of trouble finding these specific hoards xD any suggestions? Thank you!

    Not specific items, unfortunately. You don't have to specifically choose a Modest nature for Smoochum, as this process can be frustrating since this is one out of 25 different natures altogether. ;) Other natures work just as well, with the exceptions being Sassy, Careful, Relaxed, Impish, Brave or Adamant, as these decrease either Speed or Sp. Attack. Soft resetting may also work for this situation. Hope my advice helps.
     
    This may not be likely, but if you have a Modest Pokemon with Synchronize, wild Pokemon will have a 50% chance of being Modest as well.

    As for types, only the abilities Static and Magnet Pull increase encounters, but for electric and steel respectively.
