Is too many Pokemon good or bad?

In time they will run out of idea and it will just start to look weird.

This has been said before each new generation...
even if they did run out of original concepts (which they wont as there is millions of animals/myths/puns/cultural references in the real world, and any combintaion of them), they could still just reuse the same ideas but execute them in fresh ways.

Hey, by filler do you mean putting a lot of useless evolutionary lines to a Pokemon?

Anyways, you can never have enough Pokemon IMO. Keep on keepin' on, Nintendo!

This, pretty much.

I mean, it really doesn't bother me if they shell out a lot of different Pokemon, as long as it isn't actually too much. x_x But like someone else also said in this thread, the possibility for that happening is fairly unlikely, somewhat.

There comes a point where you just think "okay, okay, ENOUGH, just stop it here, this it too much," and that point is coming soon. There are already 600+ pokes, 3 more gens or so and we'll already have 1,000 pokes. 600 is a lot already.

When there becomes too many pokemon, a lot of them eventually grow forgettable. I already know just about every Pokemon that exists to this day, but eventually I'm going to probably forget some as more and more and more Pokemon are added to the series...

I just hope Game Freak stops at some point and just focuses on remakes, or MAYBE another game like Colosseum or Gale of Darkness for the consoles which were pretty decent games themselves. Pokemon is a big money-maker thought, so I doubt that they'll stop creating new ones as long as Pokemon remains in demand and within children and adults' interests.

If I remember correctly, Digimon hit the 1000 mark a good while back. And Yu-gi-oh...there's no telling, but it hasn't stopped either of those series yet. And with other franchises like Monsuno and Bakugan making their own monsters as well, there's no reason why Game Freak should stop making new Pokemon.

You probably wouldn't totally forget them, you just won't know everything about them. Though, with 3-4 years between Generation releases, players have plenty of time to learn all the new Pokemon and what type they, and probably a good bit of their movesets. And with the introduction of the Pokedex 3D Pro, we'll have all the info on every Pokemon right there on our 3DS in case you do happen to forget something.

You could also question Pokemon like Farfetch'd and Dunsparce that aren't exactly powerful and don't evolve. If people haven't forgotten Pokemon like these yet, I doubt they ever will. Everyone likes different Pokemon for different reasons, so none of them will be forgotten.

That would actually be a bad thing. Sales have shown that remakes of old games (at least in Pokemon) do not sell as well as totally new games. Some people won't buy a game they've already played before, even if it is upgraded. And some people don't like certain Generations or regions, so they wouldn't buy the remakes either.

I did enjoy Colosseum and XD. Perhaps before they move on to Gen 6, we'll get a Wii U game which serves as the next 3D Pokemon battling game.

Yes, Pokemon brings Game Freak a lot of money, which translates into = "Pokemon is still popular". Black 2 and White 2 are selling extremely well right now, despite not being released internationally yet. When that happens, especially in the US, their profit is going to jump yet again.

It weirds me out when I see that some people actually want them to stop being creative and milk money on old stuff x___x

Its actually fortunate that they continue to make fresh stuff after more than a decade... usually companies tend to have a passion for the money behind it only, and try to avoid "unnecessary" work LOL.
