Personally Gens 1&2 had my favorite city names because they shared a common theme which i felt was lost in 3&4. Kanto was named for colors and your home town was Pallet like a painters pallet where the colors begin. And Johto was named for trees, aside from Golden Rod which is a color but it fits because it is the link between Johto and Kanto. I personally would love to see the return of cities with themed names. what do all of you think?

Yeah, I agree with Valor. The towns should return to having a central theme. Especially since the main theme in Black and White is Yin and Yang or balance of nature and industry.

I think they should name the cities in black and white after real cities. That would add a kind of uniqueness to it, especially if you live in Japan and are familiar with the names.

You forgot to mention that the cities in Hoenn are made up of two words put together.

I don't think they should name them after real cities, this is a fictional world. There's a lot of other things they could do. Maybe we'll get sky-themed names. Doesn't "Hiun" have something to do with the sky?

Meh i don't consider putting two words together a "theme" colors are theme, tree names are a theme

    Hiun means Fate

    Tenbun Town? (Destiny)
    Sachi City? (Fortune)
    Tame Temple? (Good)
    Warui Way? (Bad)
    Shiawase Shrine? (Luck)

well bulbabedia isn't my opinion XD i said I Don't just like some people don't believe in smogon's tiers it is their opinions, i didn't mention it because I don't believe it
@ calder i like those suggestions especially Tenbun Town it sounds like a great name for your home town

& I consider putting two words together a theme also, just not a very good one. :/
    I agree, I love Kanto/Johto names.

I already said what it means it has nothing to do with the sky its Fate

Well, it could also mean Misfortune also or fate like you said.

I know it could mean Bad fortune as well but I removed that translation and just left Fate because it makes more sense (Why would the major city be bad fortune?) and so that I could use Sachi City which sounds awesome.

If anything, Gen II didn't have a theme. Goldenrod, Mahogany and Violet are colours (although the latter is also a tree). Cherrygrove and Cianwood are compound words and Olivine is a rock. Where's the theme in that?

Gen III had a theme of compound words describing the area. Lily-cove, Petal-burg, Lava-ridge. =|

Actually both gen 1 and 2 towns are all named after color. Get one of these crayola boxes with a bunch of different colors in it and you will find all of first two gen city names With the exception of New Bark Town.
