It's been years...

I remember buying pokemon yellow when it first came out.
Then blue
Then crystal (Long story short - Step dad went to america just when silver/gold was coming out in UK and bought me that instead 'cos the suicune 'looked cooler'. Which admittedly, it did..)
Then gold (..)
Then ruby
Then sapphire


Then I stopped.
That was..years ago now?
I still have my original gameboy (NO COLOUR FOLKS)

Just got an old (Original) DS from one of my mates and bought heart gold.

20 minutes in and it seems to be the same story as crystal/gold with the exception of the marill?
Eh.

Its a nostalgiafest.

Hope to post/share knowledge maybe do some graphics if you have a graphics section
(I havnt got that far yet..)

I was directed to serebii (Sp?) by a friend and she told me all about black/white so I'm excited about THAT now..Though its not out for ages ;__;

Few questions for you/whoever if you dont mind...

-When can you trade with other people? Like over wifi
-Is there a 'time' or goal you have to complete before using the pokewalker? Mine isnt..working but I have more or less just started.
-What's this 'IV' and 'EV' business in the trading section?

1. yes you can trade with others over wifi if you obtain there FC
2. the pokewalker is kinda confusing
3. IVs and EVs are special stats that take a while to do, they increase it by around 30, such as EV training a machamp in attack would be GOOD
i have no clue what IV's are

if you dont care what language your game is in, just get the japanese version of Black or White, in september, im doing it XD

Serebii is generally thought of as the bad fansite, bulbapedia and marriland are the areas where you wanna go

EV TRAINING is how you get EVs, look it up XD

Heeey, welcome!

I'm gonna stay away from the other questions, as they're not in my area of knowledge. xD;

buuut, you can really start trading over Wifi whenever you want to, as long as you find a PokeCenter with a trade/battling area, and also be sure that you're house can allow wifi. For that I believe you need a router - speak from experience, since I'm routerless so I've never been able to use wifi. D;

If you're not sure how to work the wifi through the router, there are a lot of sites that can explain how to make them cooperate with one another, and they're easy to find through Google. :D

EV's are short for effort values, which are extra stats you gain when fighting particular pokemon. quite complicated so someone could explain it better than me..You would get a better answer from the battle corner. :P

IV's are stat boosts by up to 31 which are individual and random for each pokemon, but this is all for competitive battling. have fun here! ^^

And IV..You catch pokemon already with it? Or can you somehow gain it.
