It's Official: PS3 Slim & Price Cut Coming; Sony Sucks at Keeping Secrets

That's like impossible, 2980 yen is roughly 30 US Dollars. I don't think Sony would sell it that cheap.
 
I think I've found my reason to get myself a part-time job XD I doubt my parents are willing to get this after shelling out for a 360 last year - kinda greedy and ungrateful to ask if they could xP
 
Mmmk, so I was excited about this whole thing and we were ready to buy the system today (price cut happened). So we went to the store and the girl their convinced us to wait until the 25th for the PS3 Slim instead, which is also $299 but smaller and comes with a 120GB HDD instead of an 80GB HDD. (My specific store is getting it the 25th because they pre-ordered it or something. Just clearing this up so I don't get any questions)

Now I want to know, from those of you who already have a PS3, what gig space is good enough for someone who just wants the system for exclusives? 80 seemed fine to me, but 120 sounds nicer, and 5 days isn't that bad of a wait.

Eh, I had 40gb and it filled up pretty quickly, but you might as well just get the slim if its same price with more space.

Ok thanks. ^^ Just wanted to know how quickly it'll fill up. Looks like we'll be going with the slim then. ;D (My little brother will be quite unhappy. xD)
 
I'm glad, this finally gives me a reason to buy the PS3. I'll probably end up selling my 360 in the process.
 
it may be ugly, but it's a lot thinner and won't take up as much space, too bad for my brothers since they already have a PS3 and I'm devoted to my Wii

Yeah, this will obviously cause price cuts for the 360 and the Wii to keep themselves in the competiton. The 360 and PS3 have been clashing swords for ages, but the PS3 Slim is a very good move from Sony. Roll in the Xbox 360 Elite Slim!!

I don't think they can afford to go any cheaper. I think this is when the real console war begins. Most people didn't like PS3 because of it's huge price tag (although it's worth the cash) however now Sony have closed the bridge, leaving price gaps a void argument. Things are going to heat up in the market pretty soon.

The console wars never ended. They've been going on since the 90s, since the days of Nintendo and Sega.

I don't know. If my current PS3 fills up, I guess I might get the new one. Otherwise, I'll just keep getting the games for it.
 
Its cute, but I prefer my original. I may get one and give this one away because its having a few problems lately.
 
Eugh, that plastic toy is death,

I better get an old PS3 fast, I don't want to have to go on eBay looking for reasonable deals for the original.

But seriously, the glossy finish and the football shape is what made the PS3 and now it's just a malnourished piece of crap -.-

Why did they have to get rid of the SPIDERMAN font D: It was orgasmic to read.

Although, the slim does have some positives to it, 120GB Hard Drive, Lighter, Slimmer (of course :/) and more energy efficient.

Still, I'd much rather the original PS3, since I look at my console a fair bit.
