Was Gary's starter pokemon a Squirtle or an Eevee?

I say Squirtle. Why would Prof. Oak give out an Eevee..? Plus, I think Ash was the only person late so Gary would have gotten a regular starter.

I just think Gary is closest to his Eevee (now an Umbreon).

It was definately an Eevee. I remember it do clearly, it's as if I watched justa few years ago. XD
But, really, I'm positive it was an Eevee.

I read that a while ago, and I'm like... "yeah, but you're a girl too... >_>" ...XD

I think Gary's starter was Eevee. I mean, he is Proffesor Oak's grandson after all. Wouldn't it be obvious that he'd get a special pokemon?

Wait, I searched Wikipedia, and it says Squirtle was his starter. Look.

"Squirtle was the first Pokémon that Gary received, and has evolved into a Wartortle and then into Blastoise. It has never been removed from Gary's active lineup and is his most powerful Pokémon, having defeated Ash's Heracross and Bayleef. Well, we can always ask the writers (fat chance they'll respond) since Ash/Gary never really battled at the beginning like most rivals do in the games. Huhuuhuh.
