Ah, I didn't even think of that as the reference in my head whilst writing it was a Howl's Moving Castle one. It's true a good 85% of the parodies and references are from other Jump manga, still if you're getting the Gundam references in Hayate chances are you'll get the odd Dragonball one in tama.

Talking about meme's in manga, i wasn't expecting this one.
Spoiler:

As for Hayate the Combat Butler, it's uninspired garbage from start to finish.

Not to bring up the completely unique and inspiring K-On! and Shakugan no Shana from your list but....I think you see my point here.

It's really the difference in age for those references. HayaCon is more focused on the newer crowd, while Gintama goes towards the older ones.

I dunno, I get most of the Gintama references and my powerlevel isn't very high at all.

In which ways do they show respect to to their superiors? Hayate references things because that's what it does, it's a reference gag manga. Giving people a cheap laugh is what it's there for, if it manages that then surely that is respect enough to the past manga of it's genre.

I'd also be interested to know if you've watched both seasons and/or read the manga? the second was considerably different in that it followed the manga and actually developed relationships a little or are you blindly hating on it due to a 30 second clip and a couple of screenshots?

Excuse my crappy sentence structure, i've been awake for far too many hours.

Conversation, you say ^^;; I see a rant by you, a response by -Lapras-, and a response by me. Besides that, all I see is still "I hate parody shows."

That's because Gintama's are mostly from well known Jump titles

Sometimes it takes a while to get them though, this one took me ages to work out.

Spoiler:

Anyway, I think I better go now, dogs to walk and essays to bluff my way through.

Person: I love so and so anime! It's awesome!
Jack: Opinion as fact
Other person: Counterpoint
Jack: Some irrelevant argument
Other person: Clarification request
Jack: No response
I know you have come to kill. Kill me if you wish, coward, but know that you can only kill a man.

Riiiiiiiight. I'm seeing a pattern here. Have fun pretending you know all about anime when you've just rewatched the same 30 or so series over and over again.

Also, Spring 2010 is a pretty cool guy. Plenty of interesting episode 2s everywhere. Even Sengoku Otome is looking remotely interesting.

Even the Bleach filler arc makes a moderately interesting start! :)

I guess Jack runs on the assumption if you don't reply you can't be wrong.

"i be hatin', therefore it be garbage"
"i smug, therefore i right"

meanwhile, persona 4!
also, what news of kizumonogatari/nisemonogatari? they said january but now it's april :(

It'll be 2013 before we get that film. :(

TWOGK2 episode 1 was great, Ami Koshimizu (Kallen, Holo) voicing the best girl in the whole series. Opening was pretty catchy as well.

And Shinkai's next work I Guess, we've known about it forever but it's still going to be a long while before we get our hands on it. Anime movies are announced faaaaaaaar too early.

Just like the 2nd Nanoha movie :(

Well, Nanoha and co. are kicking enough butt in Vivid and Force that if there were a movie 2nd, or vivid anime, it's be too much for the world to handle and it would explode.

2010? Did we jump back into an alternate past Sengoku Otome style where everyone is a woman!?

I'm going to be following too much this season. x.x

Kizumonogatari will premier in 2013. Nisemonogatari, on the other hand, is un-confirmed. I DO hope Shaft animates all of the Monogatari stories. I want to see Mayoi Jiangshi animated. :DD

Also, TWOGK S2's ED was a let down. I expected more. I mean, Ami Koshimizu, KANA ASUMI, Aki Toyosaki, Saori Hayami and Kanae Itou...! Also, sad that Tsukiyo isn't in this season. Although I though I saw her in the trailer?

The manga on the other hand, is very slow. I really enjoy this arc, but I WANT TO SEE THE CONCLUSION ALREADY..!!

Spoiler:

I'd watch the anime, but I can't do that after I've read the manga. Not due to one being superior, I just can't watch the same events over. XD

As I am still a man, that seems to not be the case unfortunately. I blame calling last season Winter 2010.

I'm still waiting on AniCo^2 to finish up their release of the first season of TWGOK before starting on the second. Because I am extremely autistic it seems.

^^ Yes, yes. I want to see how this arc ends. Though probably I think it will be a war against old demons versus new demons + goddesses + Keima. I'm more curious as to who are the remaining goddesses. I cross my finger that Ayumi and Shiori are goddesses as well. I like Chihiro but... Ayumi, ftw!

I've been enjoying the most recent TWOGK arc quite a lot, Shame i never liked Kanon but yeah, this arc has been a lot of fun.

After a little catching up last night I can say my prediction of S;G being the best have come true. Iroha's second episode was so much better than the first, the fact that this anime will span 10 years of her life seems like it could be very interesting. Nichijou is slice of life on acid, it's not amazing comedy but it's fun.

I guess tonight i'll catch up on Suite Precure♪ and try to finish Maria Holic season 1.
