The Winter season barely started and we already have the Spring 2011 catalog. I'm getting used to the habit of watching anything new with the SHAFT/KyoAni sticker, so I guess I'll be watching Denpa Onna and Nichijou just for the heck of it. Moshidora and Showa Monogatari seems interesting enough, and I want my hands on that new Gundam Unicorn OVA. I also want to see Hoshi wo Ou Kodomo as well, though I'll have to wait for a DVD release since it'll be a theatrical release in May. Oh, and that noitaminA anime looks interesting too, especially since it's a noitaminA anime.

Other than these, I'll be waiting to see what the internet thinks when these shows get released before finally deciding on what to watch.

It'll be Kimi ni Todoke 2, Mahō Shōjo Madoka Magica, Mitsudomoe Zōryōchū! and a few others that i'm not really sure about for me this season. I remember thinking how bad everything looked a few weeks ago, checked a few out in a bit more depth and there is actually a bit of potential (Gosick, Yumekui Merry if you like that kind of thing, Zomboe Desu whatever, Fractale and a couple of others)...probably going to be a very hit and miss season.

Picked the first anime of the season, Rio: Rainbow Gate! because it had a cool name and well, it's not very good at all. I guess you can't expect a lot from a slot machine character adaptation. ^^

Actually, the shows you listed are for the current Winter season. The Spring 2011 season is from March onwards. But speaking of this season, I've been watching Kimi ni Todoke at a fast pace (since it's so good), so I'll probably be finished before season 2 begins. Madoka Magica and Yumekui Merry are the only other shows I'm looking at right now.

Oh right, I started Starry Sky last week. As far as generic reverse harems go, this one doesn't do much to stray from the pack...but its cheesiness is ever so entertaining.

Nichijou is another comedy one, it's 4koma-ish while not actually being a 4koma

Just watched Rio -Rainbow Gate- and liked it to the most part. It's nice, servicy, has a gambling element, and even a bit of a Mahou Shoujo element on top of it XD This is definitely going onto my watch list.

Oh ****, i wasn't paying very close attention.

Uhhm for that season I am REALLY looking forward for Deadman Wonderland (see I capitalised "really", that's how much i'm looking forward for it. Also i think Steins;Gate, Ao No Exorcist and the second season of the World Only God Knows. I haven't looked in depth a any others but those seem interesting.

I've just downloaded the first Kimi ni Todoke 2 ep, i feel kinda stupid as i read most of the manga he other day. *sigh* ....edit....it's actually episode 0 which is a recap.

Everybody has seen the chart for the winter animes right? well here it is for those who didn't

Spoiler:

IMO is this a zombie? is the only one that looks interesting

*Scans through*

Crap, crap, moe crap, non-moe crap, crap, crap...

Oh, look, .hack...

Yeah, I don't hate moe series. If they can pull it off.

Most can't.

eh, that chart's out dated by quite a bit...here's the newer one

Spoiler:

here's my copypasta for the season, with a few edits now that I've seen a bit.

KyoAni betrayed me by doing Nichijou in the spring instead of Little Busters ;_;

Eh, can't say i recognize a nice bit of the series, especially since i have a tendency to test the waters for most of the series each season, but here's my current list of shows I'm looking forward to.

Haiyoru! Nyaru Ani. Forgot it's already out, so I went and watched it. Not bad for 2 minute shorts, and the fact that Nyarlko is a Kamen Rider fan makes it even more awesome!
Rio -Rainbow Gate-. It's servicy, has gambling elements, has a few Shounen elements, and some Mahou Shoujo elements in it as well. I'm liking it XD

Kimi ni Todoke 2. Loved Kimi ni Todoke, will probably love this one too.
Infinite Stratos. One male, lots of females seems to be a harem, but with the setting, I want to see where it's going.
Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica. It's Shaft doing Mahou Shoujo, I can't really ignore that XD
Gosick. Mostly for being Bones.
Cardfight Vanguard. Ok, so this is moreso my selfish obsession with card games (especially so since it's bushiroad, since I play Weiss Schwarz)
Mitsudomoe 2. GACHIRANGER!
Beelzebub. I'm currently reading the manga and liking it.
Is this a zombie?. The plot seems quite amusing, so yes.
and here's to hoping for a full blown Mirai Nikki anime now that the manga's done.

Eh, I haven't really seen any "new" anime for... quite a while.

Eden of the East is the most recent, and even that is still in Watching Limbo.

TBH, I haven't really been impressed in quite a while.

We need more shows like Geass, or Paranoia Agent. Not tired reiterations of the same formula.

In short:

STOP MAKING MOE SERIES, AND MAKE A REAL SHOW, DAMMIT. D:<

then go watch a bunch of action animes. I mean One Piece will be around forever, Naruto won't end (kill the main villain, another shows up) or just find a different way to spend your time because what you call "moe" is the majority of animes

EDIT: sorry if that made me sound like an ass. I wasn't trying to be one

Geass 2nd I didn't really like, 1st wasn't too bad.

Well, the main problem is that there are too many. And Jump series seem to be the only non-moe (possibly actiony) stuff coming out these days (with a few exceptions, including TWGOK, which came from Shounen Magazine). Bleach, One Piece and Naruto can be considered arguably bad, especially with how they keep running, especially on the filler side. I think what Shanghai is looking for is closer to something that has a constant plot running through the entire series over over something that repeats what pretty much every anime is doing. Then again, you can't really judge how an anime's gonna be by the art the preview art (debatable when it comes to eroge covers XD) (also the reason why I watch through the first few eps of every series each season)

Also:
Spoiler:

Agrees with the Otoshimono post, I was very happy when i saw that xD

I downloaded Code Geass the other day, not sure if it's really my cup of tea but it'll be worth a go sometime.

Any of you guys seen Hidamari Sketch?..I've seen the first few episodes and wow it's funny. Relating back to a topic a week or so ago it has potential to be better than both Lucky Star and Azumanga. :)

Spoiler:

What's TWGOK? also what's your spoiler spoiling the anime or the manga?

The World God Only Knows i presume. Also i think anime, that happened in the last episode right?...i'm quite far behind on the manga ^^

Sora no Otoshimono manga.

And ya, it's Kami Nomi zo Shiru Sekai, which runs in Sunday (not magazine like I said up there by mistake), which I'm also enjoying a lot manga-wise.

Shonen Jump? Eh.

Gah, but Geass at least tried deviating from the norm... Sorta...

I dunno. Yeah, I'm over-exaggerating, but... It seems you can't sling a dead mecha without hitting a moe series these days.

So whats your deal with "moe" animes? I mean I never really look at an anime as anything more than an art. Unless you're a girl then I completely understand why.

Wait, what? Story normally plays a major part in artistic creation, especially with animation, movies, and TV series. Moe generally has no story and is moreso stand-up comedy than anything. Sure, that can be a form of art, but it generally doesn't hold a candle to actual plot. It's like saying it doesn't matter how bad a movie is as long as it has pretty graphics.

What I meant by saying I see it as nothing more than an art, I don't go "oh this chick from this anime is soooo hot"

Ehh...

I watch anime for plot, to be entertained, and, 3/4 times, to think.

Sure, I'll pick up a good WTF series (K-On, Lucky Star) every once in a while (Mainly in the summer), but...

I dunno. I barely watch any anime as it is (I'm too forgetful and I don't have that much free time...), so I tend to be very picky.
