Oi, I'm three weeks behind on everything this season. On the other hand, I'm progressing through J.C. Staff hell quite nicely. Sky Girls, Kimikiss Pure Rouge, To Aru Kagaku no Railgun, and Shakugan no Shana. I'm shocked I haven't died from boredom. I'm even more shocked I'm *gasp* enjoying most of it. Enjoying anime that isn't rated praised universally? I know, it's so weird, isn't it?

Does that mean that you're just a fan of J.C Staff? Well, I'm a fan of SHAFT. SHAFT is so cool. Especially their crazy OPs. 8D

@~Ryukaa: That's exactly what I'm saying! No one can top Toradora OST.

Welp, I just watch the popular ones because I barely watch any as it is, so I'll go with the one that's most likely to interest me for more than three episodes. :/

Over time i've also come to love both Shaft and J.C. Staff.

Not only the less well known ones but i've really enjoyed Toradora, Hayate!! season 2, Bakuman, Ghost Hunt, Azumanga Daioh, Shakugan no Shana 1 and 2, Zero no Tsukaima 1, 2 and 3, Karin and Iketeru Futari. I guess they also made Eiken but everybody has bad days.

I'm hardly getting through anything at the moment. Darker Than Black, Noir, Cowboy Bebop and Pretty Cure are on my watching list atm. Actually i have been getting through Fairy Tail really quickly.

Sunrise, SHAFT, Kyoani, Madhouse, and Gainax are the only animation companies that matter. Everything else sucks.
Err, I'm not really a Hayao Miyazaki fanatic (I do like some of his movies, but I've only seen... like... one or two...), but...

Did you just leave off Ghibli?

My point exactly. Some people see one or two of their shows and think that they are the absolute best studio in the world.

Spoiler:

...wow...I really need to start paying attention to the openings a lot more for each season......completely missed that Headphone Tokyo did the Freezing OP until I saw the single title and artists...it was so obvious too...I really need to start listening to the OPs more... >>

Only seen a couple of Ghibli films but i've loved what i've seen, the animation in Spirited Away is actually nicer looking than a lot of the currently airing shows, less keyframes or something. I have Princess Mononoke in my ever growing anime file, expecting good thjings from that one. Oh with Grave of the Fireflies Ghibli were the first anime/film studio to make me cry like a baby. ^_^

Shaft, KyoAni, Gonzo, Deen and maybe Bee Train would be my favourites.

First Tier (Things I'll recognize and watch because it's said company):
ufotable, Bones, Studio Deen, JC Staff, Shaft

Tier 2 (Things that have had series I've enjoyed, but I don't pay attention to said company's stuff normally):
ZEXCS, Madhouse, Toei, Production IG, KyoAni (Bumps up to tier 1 ONLY when they're doing Key stuff), A1 (likely to be bumped up), PA Works, Bandai, Gonzo

Tier X (We ran out of money to buy new tiers):
GAINAX

Gainax are fun, even their non mind**** stuff like Hanamaru Kindergarten are good.

Friendzoning of the week.

Oh, no I was just making fun of the part where they always run out of money. They always find a way to kill their budget at the end of the season, and somehow find ways to make up for it...like making the last episode monocolor....technically that goes in tier 2 for me

Whereas some people despise people who like things.

I've never actually payed attention to any of the anime companies.

Anyone can have a hit, even if they've produced nothing but crap in the past. I'd rather give everything a shot, and decide what I like based purely on the anime itself.

If you're referring to Gunbuster, apparently they ran that episode on color film and it actually cost more to do that than if they had done the episode in regular color. Judging by the number of people who called budget cut on that episode, not sure how well the gimmick worked.

There's also the last few eps of eva on that topic

You're making it sound like everyone that pays attention to companies is a closed-minded jerk that doesn't accept any other company's stuff :/

In that case, it is also true that companies that tend to consistently pump out big hits each season are more likely to put out another hit than say, a company that gets a hit in maybe once in 2 years (assuming one animation project per season). Not that I'm saying I don't watch every show each season anyways, but the ones from the production companies I like tend to start out at a higher level of anticipation than others.

^ Sure, but I was responding to this in particular:

He definitely is saying that he's a close-minded jerk that doesn't accept any other company's stuff.

Sunrise made Code Geass and Cowboy Bebop.
SHAFT made Magica Madoka.
Kyoto Animation made Haruhi, Lucky Star, and K-ON!
Madhouse made Death Note.
Gainax made Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

These are the only good anime in the past few years, and look who made them. The industry has fallen into crap after 2007 and can be seen in the abysmal wages of animators. I'd post statistics, but I don't have them on me.

Speaking of Madoka...

I just made a whole batch of motivationals for it. Pointing out all the evil things it condones.

Spoiler:

Madoka Magica is bad for the chiddrinz.
