    Prologue

~Hello. My name is Joey Thomson. I am currently a scientist working at home in Pewter City. What really bugs me sometimes is... well, bugs. I have (or had) sleek brown hair and baby blue eyes. Actually, my eyes are okay, but I had a freak accident. Just remember that the story is quite... furry.~
~People call me the Beautiful Soul. This is because my Ninetales, Vixen, won the Beauty Contest: Master Class. She's an adorable tawny-colored Ninetales who loves attention. She's pretty docile, and she only seems to enjoy my company. If I leave her at home or in a PC box, she'll growl at me and nip at my heels a few times. Vixen and I have a certain link between us... I wouldn't call it psychic, but it's strong. I speak her language, she speaks mine. I often see her smile at me, even when she's angry. She's adorable, and what's best is, my bond with Vixen makes my older sister, Caytlin, furious. She always says, 'Joey, you jerk! Can't you lend any of Vixen's obedience to me? My Charmeleon is very defiant with me.' I always think that's funny, because it seems like every day, Charcoal gets more and more defiant. I tried telling her she needed badges, but she never listens. ~
~Caytlin is 18 and I'm 17. She was a finalist at the Master Class Cool competition, I swept through the Beauty contest with ease. She's got fiery red hair and brown eyes. She and I are polar opposites. Well, at least she doesn't have to deal with experiment and all that junk.~
~I always hate it when experiments go wrong. It's not just the feeling of failure, but the cleanup too. But sometimes, some experiments go so bad, that nothing can clean up their mess...~

Okay... I figure I'll add the first chapter now... aww come on was the prologue that short? :(

    Chapter 1

Vixen and I walked along the grass to Pewter City from the Viridian Forest, in an effort to get home on time. It turned out, I wasn't on time... in fact, I was an hour too early. 4 o'clock rang throughout the clocks, as Vixen and I stared at each other in front of our door. In all reality, Vixen was more of a girlfriend than a Pokemon... she seemed human to me. I smiled politely to her and she followed me in the door. I shut the door behind me, and Vixen sighed softly. ~Is there something wrong, Vixen?~ I thought. ~Better ask.~
    "Vixen..." I said softly.
    ~Yes?~ she queried.
    "Are you... okay?"
    ~Why wouldn't I be?~
"Today... you growled at me for no apparent reason."
    ~Don't be silly, Joey; I didn't recognize you for a second, that's all!~
"You'd think you'd recognize me after six years..."
~Are you bound so tightly on perfection?~
"Well..." I contemplated it for a second. "Yea, I am," I stated, finally.
Vixen yipped at me playfully. ~I knew it!~ she told me. ~No wonder you take such perfect care of me!~
"Well, you're my best friend, Vixen... why else would I be great to you?"
~Do you want something from me?~ she asked, tilting her head.
I stared her down for a minute. ~She's never asked me that before... I've always been asking her that!~
Vixen pawed at my leg. She got antsier by the moment, and soon she was growling inappropriate words at me. "Vixen... you're my best friend, right?" I queried
~Okay, now we're moving. What do you want from me?~ she said derisively.
"Stay away from the laboratory tonight. I'm doing some important research on fusion."
~Say no more!~ She lay down on the ground silently, sighing softly at me.
But just I grabbed the flask to begin working on fusing grass and fire, Vixen grabbed my leg. I fell down, and I felt the flask break on my head. Before I left consciousness, I said, "Did you even listen, Vixen?" and then the pain overwhelmed me. I was lost from the world, my life hanging by a hair...
