It's a big day for young Ash Ketchum, as he receives news that a local Pokemon research camp is being held by Professor Oak. In other events, it appears that a very young Pichu has found himself all alone in the forest, but soon someone comes to his aid. Unbeknownst to them, both Ash and little Pichu will embark on a journey of a lifetime.

I have been highly awaiting this series with enthusiasm from the day that I heard the announcement of a new season of Pokemon.

The episode itself was great, and I really like the way it can easily be observed as a way to give more detail to the original background at the beginning of the anime. We were never given anything more than Ash just becoming a trainer and being partnered with Pikachu, but with this episode over twenty years later, it makes for an exciting flashback of the original series.

Overall, a great episode that I really enjoyed, but the part that stood out to me the most was definitely seeing Pichu evolve into the one and only Pikachu.
