Joy Seed Glitch?

Does anyone know how to do this joy seed glitch thing if it's even real? I saw some boards where people were talking about it. I tried having the leader hold a pierce band and throw a joy seed at a pokemon holding nothing and had a pokemon with a bounce band behind it to catch the seed, but the pierce band made the joy seed fly through that pokemon, through the wall, and dissapear.

Anyone have better luck with other items?
