JP GB Titles in NA Stadium Titles

Ok, this question is starting to bug me. I have been trying to look through the treads on this forum as well as asking google a couple times. I know you can't trade between red/blue and original red/green due to cartridge memory limitations, does this hold true when plugging the originals into stadium 1 or 2?

just a curiosity since I was planning on getting the japanese red/green/blue (just 'cause :))

I would assume they'd be region locked, unfortunately.

International games did not support Japanese character sets until R/S. So even if there was no region locking, the trades can't be made.
