Was any of the music from the games ever in the TV show or the films?

I believe only the first episode at the beginning, in which they had the intro of the game merge into the battle at the beginning of the show.

Yeah! Battle themes, routes, Pokemon centre, contests and inside the gyms.

This is all the stuff I can remember being in the anime and I watch the dub, which a lot of the original music is cut out for some reason. There are probably some I have missed out

Okay, I never really noticed the beginning of the first episode before. I don't even remember seeing all the first episode.

The Pokemon R/B/Y Trainer Battle song, where was that used?

Uh, I dunno. Its used all the way through the anime! Oh, I remember! The one scene I always remember is in The Ghost of Maiden's Peak where the Pokemon all try and battle Gastly.

Well, they're remixes. It's not the OSTs from the game, but it's the same song only different instruments.

In Diamond and Pearl they use of the themes from the game:

Episode 23 Faces of Stellix Determaination: They played the Route 206/207 theme from the D/P game.

Episode 2 Two Degrees of Seperation: They used the Wild Pokemon Battle theme when Ash caught Starly. I remember them using the trainer battle theme in a few episodes too. But yeah as Grant said there remixed versions tooken from the games.

Oh, I just assumed he meant actual remakes of the music for the anime. Yeah, the only time they actually use the game boy music is in the first episode.

They use the theme of route 214/15 in the Japanese version during the middle of the show, during it's only commercial
During prof Oak's lectures in Shinou, the first route is played usually
and in the Pikachu in charge episode and when Ash is running from Pokemon in one of Shinji's episodes, you can hear the worker's piano encounter song, only it's not in piano, it's in synthetic instruments.
In one of the hosos, Lilycove's theme is played. I think it's in the Luvdisc episode during Daisy's fantasy.
