6th Gen Just got Sapphire

Hi there
im new to the forums here.

i have just completed pokemon y, and have now got sapphire. I was hoping to breed a team to go through sapphire with but not sure who i should have. All i know is that i want Noivern with outrage and Infernape as they are my favourites.

Im also not really sure on what nature and abilities they should have as only just started learning about these aswell as breeding iv's, The iv's is what confuses me the most as someone told me i need to get a ditto from friend safari. Im not sure how that works,

If it takes me a few weeks to get team together then im happy with that :)

any help would be great. Also if you are willing to trade pokes to help that would be really great :)

Ive been in the same spot as you, both for breeding a team for a new playthrough and also for the breeding mechanics. There are plenty of guides on the internet you can look up. Im fairly new to the forum aswell, so Im not sure if there is a section for guides (there probably is).

Anyway, the pokemons from the Hoenn region that I've always enjoyed breeding for a playthrough were the dragons. Trapinch and Bagon were always nice to play with (I would get 5-6 eggs of them haha). But thats just my opinion.

Also, if you are just going to do a playthrough, I wouldnt worry about IVs. Just get the pokemon and play :D

For your team, I agree with Babietje about the IVs. Since you're going to be using this team as an in-game team and not battling against other players with them, you don't need to worry about making them the best Pokemon around. Especially since you won't be able to control the Pokemon's Effort Values while playing through the story.

The Natures and Abilities that each Pokemon will have depends on how you want to play with them. If you want your Infernape to be more of a physical attacker, then you'll need a Nature that helps the Attack or Speed stat increase.

For the Friend Safari, we have a thread here where members have shared their Safaris. Look around for someone that has a Ditto in their Friend Safari and add their Friend Code to your 3DS. They have to add yours back, but once they do, you can access their Friend Safari and catch Ditto. What you'll want to do with the Ditto is check their IVs with an online IV checker (I use Serebii's) and see if the IVs are 31 in the appropriate stats you want to breed for. 31 is the best IVs you can have in a stat.

But I honestly wouldn't go through so much trouble getting together a perfect team for an in-game run. You can beat the storyline with any Pokemon you want. So if your Infernape doesn't have the right Nature, Ability, or perfect IVs, I wouldn't stress too much about it. And the rest of the Pokemon on your team can be whoever else you want!

If you want to get into the details about breeding perfect Pokemon with good competitive movesets, then Smogon is your best place for guides.

Ill probably make a combative team at some point so ill read up about the roles and ev stuff first. Ill work through sapphire first.

Well i have selected 5 of my team to work through sapphire with :)
Noivern - dragon flying type
Infernape - fire fighting type
Aggron - steel and rock type
Electivire - electric type
Weavile - Dark and ice type

Im gonna breed the natures of them and to see what happens sort of experiment.
Any suggestions for the 6th pokemon and what nature.
