    Hey there everyone! my name is Sharkatk and i was looking into the competitive gaming aspect of pokemon and found myself here =D, well what i wanted was someone to help me get my name around and maybe explain the whole UU-OU-UBER- and all that kinda stuff, if you can i would be supper happy and if you cant lets just chat a little

    im sorry for anything on this post that might not be "ok"
     
    wow i like this place better then smogon already =D

    but i kinda was "scared" to just jump into the wifi/competitive game untill i got a lil more info... got any ?
     
    Just one piece of advice some people out there have cheatede pokemon Once i versed a level 934 lucario that was hacked. So be ready for some tough pokemon!!! Anyway enjoy yourself!!!!!

    Yeah, but you always have to watch out for that. If you arrange a battle here at PC and they're using hacked Pokémon, do feel more than free to report said member to one of the competitive battling moderators. We don't want any o' that in our house on this community. Same advice goes for you, Sharkatk.

    Oooooother than that, yeah, I have no advice on competitive strategy. ]: Sorry, but Hiidoran isn't that great when it comes to actual gameplay. Haha, sometimes I have a hard time just getting through the storyline. /lame

    ya thanks for the reply guys! i had a hard time finding my was a little hard lol not used to forums.. but am still trying to make some real friends =(

    i really dont know much. but all i can say is that i need alot of help, i have no idea how the tiers of the game work other than the fact its kinda use oriented. i am no good at predictions ( found that out from pokemon online ) and i dont think my team building skills work either... so as you can tell im very very new and i would just like some help lol

    I need to know how much you know about competitive before trying to help you. Seems you want to know all in all what the tiers are?
    Or just looking for advice for teams and such?
    I'm not that pro at it, but I can try and help a fellow user ;)

    Okay, so we start from scratch. Here are the tiers:

    OU

    OU is short for "overused". This tier is the standard battling tier for the pokémon used the most. 5th gen brought a lot of new abilities and strong pokémon, so OU has become a very hard-hitting metagame.
    There is also "weather teams". These teams utilize Politoeds DW ability Drizzle and Ninetales DW ability Drought and of course the good old sand stream and build a team around it.
    OU can give you a lot of trouble if you are new, but you just need to find someone who'll help you build a team and then you play.
    I promise you'll learn a lot really fast, because most OU Pokémon are predictable if you know what they are meant to do.

    UU

    UU is short for "Underused". Here you'll find many, many different pokémon not as used in OU but still used from time to time.
    I haven't played in this tier too much, so I'm not so used to it, but I've heard that in this tier (contrary to OU) is quite unpredicdable. The pokémon in this tier can often do a variety of things, whereas OU pokémon often do one thing and are some of the best at it.

    BL

    BL is short for "BorderLine". Pokémon that are underused but have too high stats and are therefore banned to this tier.
    I don't know much about it though.

    Uber
    Here roam the legends! Mewtwo, Weather trio, Zekrom, Reshiram etc.
    All the strongest pokémon, even some non-legendary pokémon that are banned from OU.
    You'll often find pokémon accomplishing things you wouldn't expect.

    There are also the RU and NU (Rarely and Never used) tiers, but I barely know anything about that.
    But remember: practice makes perfect ;)

    sweet thanks for that tier info. ( i have a hail and BP team ready to battle ) i just would like to know what is banned from what tier and who to start my battles with lol after that i think ill manage just fine ( i watch a LOAD of youtube on wifi battles lol )

    Welcome to the forums, Sharkatk! I think you should start posting around the forums to get yourself known to more people... and also to get a feel of the forums! I think you can find competitive battling help at the right section of PC, so... well, you know what to do! :P

    cool i might just go do that right now =P but i was just a lil shy about posting my team anywhere cuz i think they might not be any good... so w/e ill just throw them out there and see what comes up
