Just some Basic Questions

I have a few questions...

1. If I start a deck is it good to base it on one type of pokemon (example-Fire,Dragon, etc.)
2. What booster packs should i buy to start a deck...
3. Would older cards like the First Basic set be good in todays tournaments
4.Does anyone have advice on basic stratagies
5.Can someone help me find out how to play?!?!?!?!?!?

In some ways yes, but mabye try more than 1.

Depends which format you are playing, location, and meta.

No, they are not allowed in the modifed format.

It depends what you mean on basic. Look at my last answer.
