I don't think anyone would want that. And it'd be a huge shame to lose this little giveaway. Therefore, we're all going to have to put up with it until the admins eventually move to a stronger server.

Although, I can think of one way that might remove some of the pressure on the server, though I doubt many people would like the suggestion. Basically, instead of doing the giveaway at 3.30pm, or as close to that as possible, doing it at any time between 3pm and 4pm. So there's an entire hour where you could start the giveaway. That should prevent people from just lingering in the thread, refreshing the page for 10 minutes.

But, as I said, I doubt many, if any, people would like that idea.
 
Well I like that idea but, would it really solve the problem I'd hope it would. I dunno about others not liking the idea, I mean...its better than dealing with all the frustration, wouldn't you think? And actually this is kind of how I had intended it to be in the beginning, but thought it was kind of unfair for people to never know for sure when it was actually going to happen and a little more predicatability would help.

I'd be open to at least discussing it or any other ideas anyone might have and seeing how people feel about it.

I would also hate to have to stop the giveaway, it really does give me a lot of pleasure to help so many people with getting hard to obtain pokemon and I think that its fun.

Anyway, what do the rest of you think?

*EDIT* Anyway, tomorrow is Deoxys. For next week I am not sure what to offer up, I think the consensus is another *shiny* mew monday...What about for the other days? I figure maybe the same options as before?

I'll keep the discussion for that open until Sunday and then make the decision, and I will *try* to pick the ones I think the most people want. Don't make this painful though hehe I hope that there's a common desire for specific pokemon =)

i always seem to land in 1st place or 3rd place
i usually unlag and be the first person to post and then the site lags
that kinda helps me in a way

Kat, a normally functioning forum should be able to take 13 people at once, maybe you could move this whole thing to another Pokémonforum/site?

i like legacy's suggestion.
Another way is to make a forum for the thing. Forums are easy to make too but i guess thats not a good suggestion

i agree with this but i dont like it to run for an hour. Right now its good except it crashes everyone
on the forum.
I like these choices for next week shinys are hard to get
 
Hubby suggested something like that too (another forum) I have my own forum (webspace) but it has alot of personal info there along with RL friends and such and I don't know if it would be too much traffic.

I could make an EZboard or something (HATE Ezboard) but it would serve its purpose. Problem is I really don't want to do that. I like this community and I really want it to be open to everyone here not just a select few.

Well we'll keep discussing the options. Should I talk to an admin/mod about it? I just feel horrible knowing that I may be causing the problem, and not just for the people involved in this thread but all the other users that are suffering cuz of it =x
 
the fact that so many people are clicking so fast in this thread, and all trying to get their post in within seconds apart from eachother might contribute to the "Database Errors," causing them to come more frequently around the time of the giveaways, but The forum has been acting up like this long before this thread was put up, so I don't think that you should consider yourself responsible for all of it.

The old ones wouldn't be bad, it would be a week I could take off for the most part ^_^

But I would also like the chance to keep working on my legendary checklist... 14/35 so far :)

Remember you can edit your post after you are "in" to add your FC and when you can trade. Also remember to just trade me pokemon that you do NOT care about, 9 times out of 10 I release them, unless its the off chance its a pokemon I don't have already.

The first *6* posts after *this* posts gets it.

Mikiru - I tried to do an "offer" thing but its just too overwhelming, people wanting 20 pokemon or 20 different people wanting them. I discovered this is just about the only way I could get the pokemon out there to people without driving myself to the nut house. Maybe later on I can try to offer some up occasionally but, right now this is the best way.

Psi - I will take a look at the LJ thing, I've never done anything with it but it looks interesting.
