Hello, I plan on making my own discussion board software for everyone but it shall have more than just discussion boards. It will actually be more of a CMS.
    Forums Features:
    • WYSIWYG Editing
    • Advanced BBCode
    • Easier user administration
    • Interactive Private Messaging
    • and more!
and the best part is it is free - release date: 10-25-2004.

Hmm, forum coding is hard work. =/

Should be interesting to see if you can get it to work.

Well, sounds good. But don't advertise it here.. you will have to get another way of telling people... Just not on PC or anything.

I think designing a forum software would be okay... as long as didn't advertise an active forum... o_O

Um, it looks pretty much the same as current software though... I mean, what is "interactive" PMing?

It would likely be similar to chat rooms and/or IM software. I don't know how you would work that into a forum without detracting from its original purpose, though.

Basically though - I am making a forums system with all kinds of bells and whistles like interactive mod installation, rss feed generation, wysiwyg editing, and basically - why should people whom can shell out $85 have all the fun? I expect that this system would be so good that even PC will be using it.

o_O Wouldn't that take a long time to create...? And your release date is this year? @_@ Well, good luck on meeting that, since it seems like an awfully great task.

And I don't think advertising the actual forum software for download would be bad. I mean, we often link to the place to download software like phpBB or IVP... and they have forums as examples. As long as the example forums weren't your own and were up for the sole purpose of showing off your coding and for support, etc... I wouldn't see a problem with it =\

Well, no offence but you have said you are going to do this and that.. but i haven't seen anything yet :\.. But as Lightning said.. to be better than VB you need support ALOT of money, legal problems.. companys backing you. You need to be very good with PHP and design (which you aren't, and you admitted that). So maybe if you don't mind me saying so, you should take a less extensive task on.

Perhaps you should try to modify existing forum software before creating one of your own. If you're inexperienced with coding PHP, I would recommend learning C/C++ first, as a lot of PHP code and syntax is based on that of C and C++. PHP comes naturally after learning C/C++. Plus, C++ is a very structured and logical programming language that can teach you the basics of programming. From C++, you can easily learn Java, C#, J#, J++, et cetera.
