Kids WB dropping weekday block

I wrote this yesterday to this one board I go to as I was watching the final block. After that, did some research with some Kids WB essays. Either way, food for thought.

Come next week, there will be just WB programming or syndicated stuff. It's sad for me as I see it as a watershed moment; for the past 7 years, I always turned to Kids WB to catch up on reruns for taping and just some solace and quite frankly something to WATCH despite the insanity of their Toonami (and killing the real deal), their random show inserts, their horrible promos and their bodily function jokes. What was I missing again?

I'm not counting this past season with NO much needed Yu-Gi-Oh reruns at ALL but still...something. Sighs. As always, the decision to cut is fiscal and again deepening my cynicism.

Goodbye Kids WB with your lovely Batman/Superman, goodbye with your whoring of Pokemon, goodbye with your whoring of Yu-Gi-Oh, goodbye for your insanity and showing Sailor Moon S for two weeks and giving network fans something and good bye for all the good and screwed up times.

I knew you when.

In case you haven't noticed, WB hasn't shown the kanto arc episodes in years, and you're incredibly lucky to stumble upon a pre-AG episode every once and a while. CN shows pokemon once a week so that's nothing to turn to, and they're approaching the beginning of AG in their weekly showing anyway.

They probably think they can pull in better ratings by no longer showing older seasons.

*jaw drops, eyes the WB* What?! This is crazy!! >__< Since when do kids want to watch reality shows?? And now I don't have anything to beat stupid Spongebob anymore, I now officially can't stand Kids WB for what they're doing to Pokemon, now I'll NEVER get caught up on any of the episodes anymore! Good grief, what are they trying to do to me? Force me to *cough* like that sponge??? They're just plain crazy if they think reality shows like those are better than Pokemon, it's just plain crazy!

Sure, I like CTN, Disney, Toon Disney, and Nickelodeon, ok, I only like The Fairly OddParents, Danny Phantom, Jimmy Neutron, and Catscratch on there, but heck! Those are the only shows I'd even be caught dead watching on there! The rest of it, especially that sponge, stink. But that may be cause they boot out my four shows sometimes. <<

Well, this needs a petition to bring Pokemon back to the weekday schedule, doesn't it? I get enough lamo reality shows now in place of where my favorite ones used to be. Touched By An Angel being one example.

Well, once I get another post up, I'll ask someone to start one because anything I ever do never does very good if it's clubs, forum topics, etc. So if someone would, I'll post up a website that I know of that supports free petitions for even random people to sign. Hopefully we'll get Pokemon on the air again during weekdays.

*Officially hates The WB weekdays, will not be caught dead watching the stupid, greedy channel except on Saturday mornings during Pokemon time.* :(

P.S.~ Please excuse the rant, it's just I haven't had anything this bad, show related happen to me since the greatest cartoon and character of all time, Top Cat was cut off in favor of a dog type show way back in the year 2000. :(

Well....Crap. I knew that it had stopped for a few days, but I didn't know that it was permanate. ....This'll hurt Pokemon's popularity too... because it attracted little kids who caught it on the afternoons... D@mn it... this also means I'll HAVE to wake up early on Saturday to Pokemon, I dont have a choice anymore since reruns are dead....T-T .... What'll happen if I sleep through an important episode..and and and ...?! * stops ranting on here, and freaks out without posting it.*

Thats how I found out about Pok?mon, I was flippin' through the channles and found it.

When I was younger I watched after-noon shows on Kids WB cause we diden't (and don't) have cable.
Now pre-teens (and young teens) that don't have cable have nothing to watch in the after-noon but PBS. . .

oh god... That thought makes me cringe... x__x No cable.. and only PBS... we didn't have cable for a few years around 2002... and so I worshipped WB, because it was the only good channel on regular TV......we had a crappy picture too.

Maybe WB will change their minds if they get enough complaints... I doubt it...but ...you never know.

It wouldn't happen. I doupt that. It is greed that runs a company and like the article Deark Weezing shown they had this planned months in advance so they must have had this to planned. It is sad.

So two questions. One: When you think they will cut ou Saturday Morning Cartoons. Two: (I go and make one in the pokemon anime) Do yo think CN will show pokemon everyday.

The reason why I metion the first questions is that one of the main reasons why WB cut the afternoon cartoons becasue it couldn't make money because of the competion of (sometimes bad) shows on CN, Disney/Toon, and Nick. Now CN has started Migulzi an hour earlier which is the same time KidsWB started and have said they have a new Saturday Morning line up. Do you think they WB will cut the Saturday Morning Cartoons?

To reyna.

I find it funny that they did what they did with the cutting of the block because of ratings considering how much WB gutted Toonami in order to maintain their own ratings back in 01-02, an irony as it's all the same company. That said, now both networks are husks and losing more and more.

But it does cut into Pokemon because my affilate screws up airing the premiere and I need to retape at times. Yep, yep, yep.

To answer your questions:

1) I think WB will keep going because all the other affilates are gutting their line ups with news and educational material and have been for years, beyond Fox Box, getting to be the only game in town and it's down to that. But it might cost them in the long run with the extra hour and lacking of reruns to catch up since no other networks will syndicate their stuff, beyond CN and even that is going by the wayside.

2) I said what I said about CN airing pokemon in another thread, by you. So answered that.

On other notes, they're airing ER (which isn't for kids) and 8 Simple Rules. If you're going to gut, at least use kid friendly material to compensate.

Bah.

And this is my 500th post. Huzzah.

merger of equals my butt

That really blows. But I bet the government's all happy about it, since they've longed to make sure that children have nothing but school and sleep daily, from birth to the grave.

BTW=TimeWarner is the DaimlerMercedesChryslerBenz of the entertainment biz.

I know Dark Weezing. I was meaning like today the afternoon and tomorrow the Satuarday morning. It seems like they taking away one thing after another. I think we may have Satuarday morning for a long time but still. IT depends.

What was up with Toonami on KidsWB anyways?

The WB will drop its weekday 3-5 p.m. kids programming block beginning in January 2006, and at the same time will add one hour to its Saturday morning kids block, beginning its kids programming at 7 a.m. instead of 8 a.m. and running until noon.
Why don't they do the same as children channels in my country. They make a separate channel with only children shows so that children can watch shows anytime, 365 days a year.

I'm paranoid either way, so yeah.

To answer about Toonami, basically the short version was that Toonami in their original airings at 4-7 PM EST, was taking away from Kids WB's ratings, and since they were all the same company, KIds Wb requested that Toonami aired later and then topped themselves by wanting the Toonami name to gain ratings and I think originally promulgate Toonami's name for the non cable viewers but I think that's the reason why CN said fine and made some bumpers for it. And Kids WB just got lazy with them and didn't do the bells and whistles you got from Toonami (as for the real deal with what happened to them, that's a separate rant, PM me if you wish to know).

So yeah, just gutted the finer product to boost themselves up and what happened? Toonami is gone but one day a week, it's a joke now and Kids WB's afternoon run is gone. Bravo.

They tried I guess. I mean they real did their best to keeps KidsWB on the air.
Once again, thank cable competition and government regs for this :P
