Learn Yiddish from Team Rocket

In "Casting a Paul on Barry!", there was an interesting bit of dub dialogue with Team Rocket. Dogasu captured/translated the exchange, as the Rocket merchandise plot becomes a huge success (his commentary obviously below the quotes):

James: "We'll sell until we're tchotchkes free!"
Jessie, James, and Meowth: "With big bonuses for you and me!"

"I know Meowth has said "oy vey" before (and that's only the most recent example!), but I believe this may be the first time we've heard James utter a Yiddish expression. Are the ten year olds to who this show is aimed supposed to know what tchotchkes are? And when will Jessie get a Yiddish phrase of her own?

"Anyway, the line that the Rocket-Dan members say in unison at the end there is that they're doing everything for Sakaki-sama's sake. Jessie, James, and Meowth, on the other hand, are considerably more selfish."

Dogasu, of course, asks the sensible question of "who in the fanbase is this supposed to appeal to?" (Is there a sizable Yiddish faction in the fanbase that we are unaware of?) What is more fascinating is now James is starting to use such expressions, as well. Not to mention, if and when Jessie will start using them, herself. The dub certainly has set a new milestone: one of the few American dubbed animes to actually use Yiddish phrases and terms. (If there are others, feel free to note on them.)

If this trait continues with the human members of Team Rocket, I'll analyze/comment/opine accordingly. The TPCI dub has had its share of dialogue issues with Team Rocket, but this apparent Yiddish connection has never went beyond Meowth until now. (In fairness, I have only watched 2/3rds of the Sinnoh arc, and I need to catch up on many things.) As always, the viewer makes the call, be it on the TPCI dubbing process, the episode or the dialogue.

Nota bene: If anyone wishes to discuss on the Rockets' "big bonuses" line, vs. the Japanese's original mention of Sakaki/Giovanni, fine by me. Eventually, I plan to post a thread that focuses on the Japanese version's use of English expressions. Don't expect it for a while, as it requires quite a bit of researching.

I haven't posted a thread in a while, so if I'm off in my wording, be assured, I'll re-edit. (And how. Heh.)

Team rocket's dialogue isn't very good overall. Meowth is treated worse than his companions though which is a shame I guess then again I don't like Meowth very much.

I hate Team Rocket's dialogue. Most of the time, I can hardly understand what they're saying, but whenever I do, I don't like the puns and rhymes they come up.
