Does anyone know of any good software, guides, books, things like that, which I can use to learn Japanese by September 28th? I think you know why...

Ohhh... er, no idea, but I don't think you're gonna be able to learn Japanese fluently enough to play a video game... just wait for the American version =_=;

^ That URL has quite a few resources that are directly linked to the textbooks that were used in the Japanese course I took over the last three years. I haven't thoroughly checked it, but it seems pretty good. ^_^;

However, like Kylie said, you really can't learn a language in a mere month and a bit. Like I said, I've studied the language for the last three years and I'm still nowhere near proficient at it. x_X; Good luck in your endeavours, though~

Good luck with that. Though I'd advice you wait wait for the American version too.

You can't learn Japanese in that short amount of time, unless you happen to have a sgnificantly higher learning rate...like everyone else said, just go for the American version. But good luck, anyway.

Well since Diamond and Pearl look like they dont have any kanji, it'll be less rough. I suggest you memorize hiragana and katakana at least so you could look the words up in a dictionary. You should also try your luck at learning common Pokemon phrases, verbs and nouns. And remember, the verb comes at the end of the sentence.
I dont guarrantee success at learning this language but at least start learning it. Heck, I knew a few Japanese words, hiragana and katakana when FireRed Leafgreen came out and I was able to make it pretty far in the game.

But it'd be better to actually know some of the language before going.

But it takes years to learn a language and speak it fluently. X_x

I think you've already got the picture that it's worth waiting for the American version rather than spending about 5-6 years (or maybe even more, I'm not an expert here) of your life learning a language just because of a significant game.

Even though the Pokémon games (until now, at least) don't use complicated symbols, rather just alphabet characters, in my opinion you still need to know Japanese a little fluently, and learn to read it a little well.

Resuming, wait for the American version.

Immersion is the best way to learn a language, but it's rarely an option for students. D: I know it's not an option for me, so yeah.

As for the topic, your best bet is to memorise the sets of kana or else memorise which combinations of characters mean what attack/item/whatever. XD; That's how I always do it, since I find actually translating every little thing in the game makes gameplay tedious and annoying.

That said, I'd honestly just wait until it comes out in English. o_O; It's more fun when you know exactly what's going on.

No offense. But instead of learning it quickly for the Japanese version , you can wait for the egnlish version to come and use that time to learn the lagunage in general.>_>

Diamond and Pearl is comming out in Spring 2007. That's less than a year away.
