Skye gasped in suprise at her mother standing before her, feeling great confusion overwhelm her urge to run. Her mother only smiled, and reached out to her daughter lovingly. Skye took a step back. Her mother looked hurt.
"What's wrong, honey?" her mother asked, brushing a stray strand of her hair away from her face. "Aren't you glad to see me?"
"Mom, I though you were kidnapped!" Skye exclaimed, narrowing her eyebrows. "The apartment back home was in shambles, like there was a struggle or something. What's going on??"
Skye crossed her arms over her chest, feeling very defiant.
"I don't know what you're talking about, Skye," her mother said. Her tone was plastic. Skye felt very skeptical. "Your father wanted to speak to me about you, so I agreed to meet him. And, I just couldn't believe it, but I fell in love with him all over again!"
"But you got divorced so long ago!" Skye cried out. She stamped her foot angrily.
"Cassidy, that's enough!" her mother said firmly. Cassidy's eyes grew wide, and she shut up. "I came to get you so you could go see your father, but I can see that you aren't ready."
From behind her mother, beyond the doorway, came some familliar voices.
"What are you doing! Let go of me!" a raspy, boy's voice cried out.
"Get your hands off me!" wailed a nasal girl's voice.
"Knock it off! Where are you taking us?" came another boy's voice that Skye knew very well.
"Pikaaaa!" wailed a Pikachu.
"Brock, Ash, Misty!" Skye cried, pushing past her mother and into the hallway. She watched them being dragged down the hallway.
Skye reached into her pokeball belt and withdrew Agile's pokeball as Skye's mother grabbed her shoulder. Her mother's grip was a lot stronger than Skye remembered, but she didn't have the patience to turn around.
"Agile, thundershock!" Skye cried.
"CHUUU!" Agile exclaimed, not questioning Skye's order.
Though the electricity coursed through Skye as well as her mother, her mother let go just long enough for the shocked Skye to run from her grip, and down the hall towards her friends.
The walls in the hallway were made of cool, blue stone blocks, and the hallway was lit dimly by torches. Skye raced down the hallway to find a large room with jail cells on the walls.
"Skye!" Brock cried from across the room. Skye heard his frantic voice and sprinted towards him, grabbing his hand through the bars. She felt like crying.
"What happened?" she asked him desperately, clinging to his hand tightly.
Ash pushed past Brock to explain:
"We got discovered on the boat by some helicopters coming in to the island," he told her quickly. "Some people on foot found Brock too when he started trying to talk to us on the walkie talkies. Sorry..."
"It's alright," Skye assured them. "Is anyone hurt?"
"We're all fine," Brock assured her. "But you have to get us out of here. Your dad's guards have the keys to this place. Find one of them and let us out!"
Skye felt her eyes welling up with tears. She wiped her eyes furiously.
"...Skye...?" came a weak, but familliar voice from a cell nearby.
Puzzled, Skye walked over to the cell quickly, and peered into the darkness.
"Mom??" she gasped.
