Legendaries

Thought I'd like to point out that Regigigas is a golem...

Anyhow, we don't have:
- A Pegasus
- A Gryphon
- A Basilisk

And when looking for representation we don't have:
- A Pokemon of Light (Sun is really Ho-oh)
- A Pokemon of the West Wind (North Wind is associated with Water; West Wind is a zephyr)
- A Pokemon of Shadows, of Darkness, of Suspense.

And those all go together pretty well. I might be missing something, but I'm pretty sure they would work...

I would also like to point out that Arceus is the God that created Sinnoh, not necessarily the world. So... there could be room for more. Also, like Greek Mythology, Pokemon could have multiple Gods with similar status.
Giratina is a basilisk.

Well, I think Nintendo isn't running out of ideas, there are still more to choose from.

Giratina can't turn things to stone.
And hey, it isn't ugly, you!

But, but @Jupiter Version - We can't just make every mythological creature into a legendary. They need to rule over some sort of domain or something.

Yes, but it fully resembles a basilisk, I doubt there will be another basilisk legendary unless it is a twin of Giratina. But, Giratina can end a person's life which is similar to turning to stone. Yep, it isn't ugly! XP

How do you know what a basilisk looks like?
If you saw one, you would be a statue by now XD

And back on topic:

We need legendaries embodying the cardinal sins; like Lust & Avarice.

I believe your thinking of Medusa. A basilisk kills you if you look directly into it's eyes. Medusa turns you to stone if you look directly at her. Even so, you can still look upon a Basilisk, just not at it's eyes.

I think they should try something new and instead focus on the event only pokemon. Instead of just creating new legendaries in a futile attempt to one-up themselves.

I personally believe they are going to have Arceus not be the one and only pokegod. But then there are going to be many others including one boss pokegod. Then after that a god above that and above that. Eventually Nintendo will run out of ideas.

Now, now. I could never confuse a humanoid creature with a reptilian one. I was actually confusing it with cockatrices, which turn things to stone by looking at you, or kill by being looked at... Because of its ugliness, lul. But they are essentially the same, only a cockatrice has wings.

- - - -

Which is exactly why they wont introduce more "god" Pokemon.
Besides, there is ample ground that hasn't been covered yet.

Have we got a Chimera? I dont think so but if one was made, it would be pretty cool. :D And it could rule...ummm...yeah, I'm stumped. :P
Though a Jekyl/Heid legendary would be cool. Being of split personalities? :\

Well, I did point out what they would probably work for.

I think it's odd that they don't really have a legendary for the wind yet. You could probably argue Rayquaza to an extent, but it's more of a legendary of balance than wind (it's only really "wind" based attacks while leveling up would probably be Twister and Fly). A gryphon would work well for this.

Aaaand... a Basilisk is a combonation of a snake and a bird, and Giratina... looks more like a weird ass dragon to me. It also doesn't have an extremely venomous bite, which has been a suggestion for the logical explaination of people dying upon seeing a Basilisk.

Also... Medusa is one of the many monsters in mythology that can turn something to stone. I believe the Cocktrice (which is very similar to the Basilisk) is the one that changes something to stone as well, and the Basilisk is the one that if it looks at you, you instantaneously die.

They need to have Legendary cats. They have the legendary dogs, but no legendary cats.

No they won't, I belive that as long as there exists a legend or myth that has not been Pokefied by Gamefreak, the series will keep coming out with new generations of legendaries, now for Ideas....
Pokemon Spreader(seeds native pokemon in regions)
Angels
Devils
Four Horsemen
Cyclops
Space poke's buliding off of Deoxys
Seven Deadly Sins(Yes I know Full Metal Alchmist)
Emotions (Fear, Depression, Joy, Happiness, etc.)
Still plenty of Elements to go through

I didn't see this up there so........How about a Legendary of Ghosts? Like it wonders around and collects energy from the ghost pokemon, and then later on when challenged, hunting, or some other thing it uses its stored power for that certain job. It would also be the ruler and commander of all ghost typed pokemon.

In my opinion, Shadows can be Ghost, which I think Darkrai should've been half Ghost as well or just completely Ghost

Gryphons aren't strictly just "wind," though. What makes them Gryphons is their half-lion parts. Therefore, a Gryphon Pokemon would be more "balance" than Rayquaza. But I really wanted to make a moveset.

Oh, but before I do that - GAIZ, we can't just make every chimaeric beast into a Pokemon :s
No more of this wyvern-manticore-cockatrice business -___-

Isn't that just Mespirit?...

A wyvern Pokemon would be very generic anyhow - it's just a dragon with two legs instead of four =/

But Pokemon honestly needs a gryphon. Almost every great RPG has one, and they're awesome anyhow. They don't even have to look fully like a gryphon, just part gryphon.

Honestly, though, there are so many things in world mythologies to build legendaries off of that we shouldn't worry about Pokemon losing ideas for such creatures. Sure, Arceus is the "creator", but we can go at least 2 or 3 generations with other legendaries that aren't creators. Just look at Mew and Arceus.

ALSO, I sketched something pretty bad.
I am not good at drawing Pokemon style.
It sort of has Ranny's body shape.

Meh, I see no point in any more Legendary Pokémon. It was meant to be elusive and extremely rare, but now it's just dud.

With the help of SPONSORS and FANS, until there is, NINTENDO will never run out of IDEAS...

Haha, i like the posts about the things of Mythology... BASILISKS, PEGASUS... :)

;)

Well... Why not:

*A demigod Pokemon (add more)
*A planet Pokemon

I dont really care... To tell the truth, i, too, am running out of ideas about new Pokemon... *SIGH*

Well, we have to continue the Legacy...

P.S. = Unowns are rare, right?

Hey Gymnotide...

why not post your
sketch on NINTENDO / GAMEFREAK...

If in case there's a 5th GEN, it would surely be one of the candidates... :)

P.S. = Who knows, you might also be hired as a GRAPHIC ARTIST by Satoshi Tajiri himself... :)

Actually, Arceus created Dialga, Palkia, Giratina (perhaps), Mesprit, Uxie and Azelf, then went into a slumber. Dialga and Palkia created Space and Time, which is a lot bigger than just the Sinnoh Region.

There was a TV show episode that shows that, but I don't remember the details. Whatever it was, I'm pretty sure Arceus was the creator of all, not just Sinnoh. I'll watch that episode again to find out.

Taken from bulbapedia:
Arceus is known as "The Original One," as it is said that it created the Pokémon universe and the lake trio. The only known way to get Arceus is with the Azure Flute.
According to legend, Arceus created the universe, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, and the lake trio.

No, Unowns are some of the most common Pokemon ever :s

Except that they won't even look at it!
And in the off-chance they do, they won't give credit for it :P
Anyway, it will probably just end up in some bad magazine <3
