Is the pentagon that determines a Pokemon's legitimacy just that? It may look like a silly question... I've read that it only determines that a Pokemon was caught/bred in Kalos. I ask because I acquired a flawless, shiny Forretress, bearing the star but not the pentagon. And while I'm 99% sure it was generated, I thought I'd see what you guys have to say. Does it just signify that a Pokemon was born in Kalos, or is it a general statement that the Pokemon is legit?

The pentagon only means that a Pokémon is from Kalos. I transferred a lot of legit Pokémon from previous generations, none of them have the pentagon.

another way to confirm that the pokemon is hacked/cloned is by searching the trainer's ID no./OT in the pokecheck website. If the person in question had a long list of entries then it's hacked.

Actually that's not true, there's a lot of pokemon in Pokecheck that ARE legitimate (that site isn't just a long list of hacked pokemon, it has both, a lot of people post their pokemon there in order to prove that it is NOT hacked) what you should do is check the trainer ID and see if they have entries on pokecheck, yes, BUT also check their individual pokemon legitimacy checker on the site and it will tell you whether it was likely hacked or RNG abused and if that person has a lot of "likely hacked" then yes, yours probably is hacked. If the person has a lot of "Likely RNG abused" then yours is likely legit (or as legit as RNG is)

The pentagon isn't a legitimacy check, it only means that the Pokemon was bred/caught in Kalos. Now, flawless shinies can be bred through RNG abuse in previous games, and many don't consider it cheating, since the Pokemon is created in-game, not by external software. People can then clone the Pokemon and distribute it to many other trainers, which again, is not seen as cheating.

About your shiny Forretress, what level is it at? Check its EVs in the Super Training screen. Was it bred or caught? What's the location? A level 100 with an even EV spread across all stats would be pretty suspicious, but if it appears "normal", then maybe it's legit/cloned.

And pokecheck is down, guys :(

OT: Ash, level 100. The EV's are maxed out, and distributed to each stat, favoring Attack and Speed. Weird, I think.

To everyone who's answered my thread, you've been helpful, thanks!
