Shadowyashi: Excellent post! And I love Anorith just shooting through the air; it really gave me a good visual. :) Anyway, congrats, Anorith grew to level 7 and learned Mud Sport!

Butterflies and Hurricanes

A gale of wind rushed, waving Kara's spyder ski jacket as if it was tied down to a flagpole. There were no birds, there were no houses, and in fact the only sign of civilization was a small town in the distance and a car driving back the way Kara had arrived. That car happened to be the way Kara had arrived at her current destination; it was meant to be this way. Since she had been in the first grade this was the mental mosaic that she had mastered. Kara Thornse of Snowpoint City, she liked to believe it was her hometown, would walk into the first town with everyone in awe of her. They would line the streets and applaud for she was to become the best trainer ever to grace the earth with her greatness. For this absurd reason, Kara had asked her father to drop her off a mile out of Shirk City. Her legs were immeasurably cramped from the three-day drive to the Lenore Region. Through whatever soreness, Kara began her trek and her pokemon journey.

It seemed with every step Kara took into the Lenore Region the more voluptuous the vegetation became. Within not much time at all Kara reached the outskirts of the town, if you could call it one. It was nothing like Goldenrod that was for sure. In fact most of the buildings had a very dirty finish. It looked as if they were made half of a clay substance. With a disgusted face Kara looked towards the sky. There were no skyscrapers or even a building as tall as her house. In fact the largest building in the area seemed to have all sorts of gadgets and gizmos covering much of its surface area. Off of instinct Kara gravitated to the building, which luckily turned out to be the laboratory. The doors slid open automatically, to Kara's surprise. Entering the building all sorts of funny odors and sounds embraced the newcomer. The soon-to-be trainer surveyed the building and spotted two figures. One was clothed in a white lab coat that dropped just past the man's thighs; the other was a boy, who couldn't have been more then a couple years older then herself. He was dressed in a black shirt and had a very rugged look to him. Kara lingered for a while and after the two shared a brief conversation the boy headed for the exit. As the teens passed each other there was an apparent stench of cigarette smoke radiating from the boy.

"A nice boy that one is," the professor acknowledged his newest trainer. At first the girl believe the man was joking. However, after a few awkward moments she realized he was completely serious. Kara's mouth moved to make a witty comment but she thought better of it. "Well, what's your name hun? Let's see if I can get you that pokémon you traveled so far to get," he misinterpreted Kara's lack of speech for nervousness.

With a laugh and smile Kara responded, "Alright, sounds great. My name is Kara Thornse, I am pleased to meet you." She responded as if she was speaking to one of her father's customers, with pure respect. It was now second nature for her. The professor searched his list until he came to the female's title.

"Ah here its! You are to receive a Shieldon," He reached over to the desk behind him and retrieved a ball painted red and white. He freed the pokémon from its prison and for the first time Kara met her starter. The creature that stood before Kara was not beautiful in the least bit instead it was earthy, hardy, and in some very weird way cute. It's large head dwarfed the tiny, orange body the resided behind. The pokémon and its trainer could only stare at each other.

Finally Kara broke the awkward silence, "Thank you professor we should be going." With that the trainer headed for the door with her steel type pokémon following.
"Not so fast, haha! You still need this!" He caught up to the trainer and handed her a pokedex that had been vibrating since the release of her pokemon. She ignored the advice. "That is the color you order is it not?" Kara nodded and took the lavender device from the man and exited the building without saying farewell.

Mother nature had not finished blowing across the Lenore landscape. Kara's hair flung from side to side in result. Taking a deep breathe and glancing at Shieldon,"You ready we have a long journey ahead of us?" The pokémon responded with only a nod. After a few minutes of traveling towards the city's exit Kara noticed a lake. Both figured stopped in their tracks. Visible across the lake was the final gym. At that moment Kara realized how far she had to go. How much work would have to be done to attain such an incredible feat of strength. Kara noticed Shieldon staring at the ominous building as well. Together they shared the same sense of harmonious excitement. "Don't worry we will get there," Kara ushered the comment and continued out of this city. Shieldon followed slowly behind.

Kara followed the path that led out of Shirk City, which was swallowed by a sea of green grass. Florescent flowers scattered themselves about the area giving it such tremendous beauty it could be considered a xanadu. However, it was a false sense of tranquility. Kara's credentials as a trainer would be tested just a few minutes outside of the city.

A sound so fierce, it would have shattered a mirror, enveloped Kara's ears. The pokedex in the girl's hand vibrated violently, but she couldn't think. Within seconds she felt an incredible force to the stomach and legs and was hurled to the ground by a green apparition. Then she saw it. It was a Scyther and he was advancing on her with incredible speed. The trainer threw her hands over her head and braced herself for a flurry of slashes. However, it never came. Instead she heard the clanking of steel. She opened her eyes to find that her Shieldon had intercepted Scyther's second attack. The mantis was now throwing as many scratches at the dinosaur as he could muster. However, Shieldon looked practically unscathed. Kara, still suffering from the pain and shock of being attack, watched as Shieldon battled the bug by himself. Scyther must have realized the ineffectiveness of his ambush and backed up. Instead of hurling himself at his opponent another time, the mantis started to use his long ranged attack. As powerful as the bug buzz attack happened to be, it still did not penetrate Shieldon's defenses. The rock and steel typing of Shieldon seemed to be hindering the Scyther.

The trainer finally mustered enough courage to stand and figure out the battle. "Shieldon, Tackle." Her pokémon followed orders. It ran towards the Scyther at an incredibly slow speed. The bug easily dodged the attack and struck Kara's pokémon from behind. This strike from behind did visibly more damage to the fossil pokémon then the flurry before it. Kara again tried to order a tackle attack and again Scyther struck from its rear. Both pokémon were winded from their physical encounters. The impatient ambusher dashed toward Shieldon. This time Kara waited until it was in striking distance. "Tackle!" It was the only word she had time for. Her pokémon executed the command flawlessly. It struck the Scyther square in the chest. It wasn't an incredible amount of damage but the angered mantis counterattacked unwisely. Shieldon used his second attack without its trainer's consent. A gray translucent shell formed deflected the Scyther's charge. The sudden change in momentum forced the green monster onto his backside. Before Kara could speak it had gotten up and limped away. Even in its limp there was no way her pokemon could have caught it.

The battle had ended but not without some casualties. Shieldon seemed in fairly good condition, but Kara's left leg had a six-inch cut on it that was oozing blood. Her fall had obviously done more damage then she had thought. Kara moved to the ground and removed a small first aid kit from her white messenger bag. She took a few deep breaths to calm her heart and began to repair the damage. Luckily for Kara, she had received top marks in her first aid class. The wound wasn't deep, just long. The trainer retrieved a white cloth and absorbed the excess amount of blood. It had been too late for her sock and shoes. The once white clothing was dyed crimson; her only pair of athletic shoes were ruined. A few tears dropped from the female as she rinsed the wound with hydrogen peroxide. "Don," the pokémon spoke for the first time. It had been some kind of attempt to cheer up the shocked sixteen-year-old. Noticing his dramatic and lengthy speech had not been enough to build his trainer up he nudged his over-sized head against her body.

The female began to cry uncontrollably. They could have been tears of relief, tears of loneliness, tears from being overwhelmed, tears for causing her pokémon to be hurt in battle then it needed to be, or maybe just a mix of them all. Either way she couldn't slow the waterworks. Only till the echoes of someone's footsteps could be heard was Kara able to gather a little bit of composure. Kara hid her face from the stranger who's feet had stopped only a few meters away. Grabbing the white bandages she continued to wrap her leg with a few last tears dwindling down her face.

Fera: An interesting start, and I'm interested to see who it is that's over Kara. Congragulations, Shieldon grew to level 6 and learned Taunt!

Grass grass and more grass... Nothing but grass spaning for what looked like miles. Jaden was forced to withdraw his slow walking Pokemon. After a good hour of walking Jaden could only see what looked like a brown wooden cabin far off in the distance. Jaden decided to take a short break and lean up against a nearby rock. He placed his bag down on the ground and pulled his guitar around off of his back. He gripped the instrument as if it were a child cradling it with care. He sat down firmly on the ground and began tuning. Just as every string matched up perfectly there was a loud yell from the corner.

"Charming, use ember!" A flame shot directly in front of Jadens face lighting the cigarette clenched between his teeth. Almost naturally Jaden inhaled the smoke into his lungs and let out a puff. This was both satisfying and disappointing, so much for quitting. Jaden looked up to his left to see what had reignited his addiction.

"It looked like you could use a light." Said a blond haired girl standing about ten feet away. She had a pair of goggles on her head and she was wearing a white T-Shirt that in red letters said Hot Stuff. At her feet stood a yellow lizard-like creature with a flame for a tail.

"Well then... Thanks I guess." Jaden said feeling the buzzing in his pocket again. "To be perfectly honest I was trying to kick the stuff but," He took another puff, "oh well."

"Oh, I'm sorry then." She said looking down at her Pokemon. Jaden pulled out his Pokedex and aimed it at the yellow lizard.

"Not a problem, names Jaden, what should I call you?" Jaden said taking a quick glance at his Pokdex before stuffing it back in his pocket.

"Call me Lorna, just curious but what are you doing out here in the middle of no where?" She said looking back at Jaden.

"I'm heading towards the first gym of this region, if I was informed correctly it should be that way." Jaden pointed to the direction he was headed before taking his break. "Might I ask the same of you?"

"Are you kidding?" She said. "This place is riddled with grass types, a perfect place to train Charming right here." She again nodded to her Pokemon. Jaden took one last inhale of his cigarette and flung it on the ground before standing to face the young woman who was almost his height.

"If your looking for training look no further." Jaden grinned. "Because I just got my new friend here just an hour or two ago and shes rearing for battle."

"Is that a challenge?" She said grinning and pulling down her goggles.

"More of an invitation." Jaden responded tossing out the Pokemon ball containing Omanyte. The blue Pokemon came out and immediately took up battle position ready to fight.

"Okay, come on Charming, use your ember attack!" Red flames blasted from the Pokemons mouth and before Jaden had time to react, engulfed Omanyte in flames. Jaden flinched thinking he had already lost the fight, no way anything could be light on fire like that and walk out okay. To his amazement though, he was dead wrong. Omanyte came out of the pile of burning grass and moved forward closer to its target.

"Good Job Omanyte, now use constrict!" Omanyte leapt out at the fire Pokemon who quickly dodged the attack with ease.

"Scratch attack go!" She said and her Pokemon leapt forward claws outstretched.

"Withdraw!" Jaden yelled just in the nick of time saving Omanyte from taking damage. The small lizard continued smashing its small claws down on the shell repeatedly until it became far too exhausted to continue.

"Now keep it up with constrict!" Jaden commanded and his Pokemon gripped onto Charmings tail.

"Get him off Charming! Use scratch!" Charming began spinning and swinging at his tail. Around and around he went swiping at Omanyte just barely missing with every shot. Eventually Charmings spinning got the best of him and he got too dizzy. The Charmander fell succumbed to vertigo and fell to the ground.

"Quickly, use your Constrict again!" Omanyte switched grip from the Pokemons tail onto its neck and began squeezing tightly. Charmander struggled to pull the Pokemon off of his neck but failed miserably and fell unconscious due to lack of air.

"Wow! You're really good aren't you?" She returned her Pokemon to its ball and pulled another from her Pocket. "Time to meet my second Pokemon! Go Spinny!"

"Two on one? That doesn't seem very fair now does it?" Jaden said slyly looking at the blond girl who had a determined look in her eyes.

"Well I'd say your type advantage on my last Pokemon makes me having two a fair exchange, wouldn't you?" She said keeping her eyes fixed on Jadens.

"I guess I don't have much room to complain do I?" Jaden aimed his Pokedex at the Spinda while continuing to make conversation.

"Let's start it off this time Omanyte, use your constrict!" Omanyte leapt out at the odd dancing panda and because of the Pokemons erratic movements he completely missed his mark and landed on the boulder Jaden had been resting on earlier.

"Tackle Spinny!" Lorna commanded and her Pokemon continued its dance toward Omanyte before bashing its skull off of her. The hit connected perfectly despite the Pokemons seemingly random movement. Omanyte was still too stunned to move.

"Lets do it again Spinny use your tackle attack!" The Spinda again began its erratic dance towards Omanyte but this time Jaden was prepared.

"Quickly! Use your constrict!" Omanyte leapt from the stone and gripped Spindas head tightly. The Spindas unpredictable motions became increasingly more violent as it thrashed around attempted to remove Omanyte from its noggin.

"Use uproar now!" Spinny began making loud singing noises and dancing. Suddenly Omanyte was blasted off of Spinnys head and launched towards a nearby tree.

"Constrict!" Omanyte extended its tentacles at a nearby branch and grasped tightly preventing her from hitting the trunk and taking full damage.

"Lets finish it Spinny, use your tackle to knock her out of the tree!" The Spinda dashed forward awkwardly and slammed into the trunk, weakening Omanytes grip.

"Withdraw!" Jaden yelled out to his Pokemon who returned to its shell dropping from the tree and landing directly on top of Spinnys head. The Spinda dropped to the ground and Omanyte crawled out of its shell.

"Get up Spinny! Show her another Uproar!" The Lorna comanded but her Pokemon was started to feel the affect of its injuries and hesitated to get up before attacking.

"Finish it off with on last constrict!" Jaden told his Pokemon who wrapped its tentacles around the Pokemon once more chocking off its oxygen supply. As quickly as it started it was over and the Spinda lay unconscious.

"Spinny return." Lorna said frowning.

"Don't frown... You look so ugly when you pout." Jaden joked to the girl who didn't know whether to laugh or hit him in response.

"That was a really good battle!" She said removing her goggles and grinning up at Jaden who had since replaced the cigarette he had burned out at the start of the battle. Jaden walked up and placed his hand on her cheek and putting on his charm.

"I hope we can have another soon." He said smoothly.

"Y-yeah." Was all she could say as he face turned red. Jaden removed his hand from her cheek and retreated back to his guitar and bag. He pulled out the three potions he had purchased before leaving home tossing two to Lorna.

"These should help you get back to training, see you around." Jaden sprayed a potion on Omanyte healing her of her wounds before throwing on his bag and guitar.

"Thanks so much." She released her Pokemon and went to heal them both when she noticed a sticky note one one of the potions. On it was a cell phone number and the words "Call me sometime." She looked up for a moment to see if he was still there but of course by then he had made sure to be long gone.

Jaden looked down at his ancient Pokemon and laughed. "Girls are so easy Ooma." She looked back up at him and tilted her shell in confusion. Jaden couldn't help but laugh again.

(NOTE: Omanyte is now named Ooma)

Monochrome: Ooh, very interesting, especially with one of my favorite pokemon! Congrats, Ooam grew to level 9 and learned Bite!

Greg continued to walk along happily across Route One. Dino was busy wandering around the shrubs, eating any Oran berries he came across happily. Greg laughed - he really was a jungle lover.

He glanced forward and only saw more grass. Now, he was one for the beauties of nature, but seeing nothing but grass for about an hour grew a little tedious. He sighed and picked up the pace a little,

Just then Dino could be heard next to him,

"Crani! Dos!" he called, running out of the bushed in fright,

"Dino, what the-" Greg began before he saw something follow his pokemon. It was small, green and spiky. Greg opened his new Pokedex again,

[PokeCommunity.com] Lenore Region (2)
Cacnea: the Cactus pokemon. The more arid and harsh the environment, the more pretty and fragrant the flower on Cacnea grows. This Pokémon battles by wildly swinging its thorny arms.

"Nice," Greg said, "Ready Dino?"

"Dos!" Dino grunted in agreement, facing off against his foe,

Greg knew rock types were vulnerable to grass types, but what choice did he have at this stage?

"Dino! Let's start with a Headbutt!" Greg shouted. Dino charged forwards at Cacnea, who rolled to the side, dodging the attack.

"Cacnea!" the grass pokemon retorted as it shot out a small green beam from the flower on its head. The beam struck Dino, who cried out in pain at the super-effective move.

Greg paused, "...Uh-oh," was all he said, "Okay Dino! Try Leer instead!"

Dino regained itself and shot Cacnea a piercing look. The cactus paused in fright and Absorb came to an end,

"Quick! Headbutt!" Greg called out. Dino lowered its head and ran in for Cacnea at top speed. The pokemon collided, with Cacnea being thrown back by the force of Headbutt. It rolled backwards a few times before hopping back into a battle stance,

"Now Dino! Earth Power!" Greg exclaimed. Dino looked at Greg desperately, "...what? Just use it," he said. Dino stamped his foot into the ground, but nothing happened. Greg sighed, "You've not got the hang of it, have you?" Dino shook his head.

Using the small distraction, Cacnea met Dino's gaze as he turned around and used a Leer attack of its own. Taken aback, Dino paused momentarily, allowing Cacnea to fire off dozens of tiny purple pins from its arms - Poison Sting. Dino shielded its face with one arm as it was struck by the attack, being pushed back slightly.

"Dino! Run into the attack with Headbutt! Use your skull as a shield!" Greg ordered, recalling the earlier tussle with Scyther.

"Cranii!" Dino roared as it charged forward with great force, taking Poison Sting to its head causing almost no damage. Cacnea, confused by this action, didn't have time to get out of the way and was pummeled by the oncoming dinosaur.

"Woohoo!" Greg cheered. Dino too looked impressed by itself, however Cacnea, still lying on the ground, launched another Absorb attack. Dino was hit again,

"Doooss!" it groaned as it was brought down on one knee by the attack. Cacnea used this new energy to stand up. It looked down mischeviously at Dino, before firing a close range Poison Sting,

"Dino! No!" Greg called desperately. Dino lay on the ground in pain as it took the barrage of poisonous needles. Just then, Greg had an idea,

"Swipe your Tail Dino!" Dino span on the ground and used its rock hard tail to ram into Cacnea and trip it up. The small cactus fell and rolled over, while Dino staggered to its feet,

"Alright!" Greg said, "...what's up?" he asked his pokemon as it looked physically uncomfortable. Dino staggered and clutched a purple bruise on its side. Greg groaned - it was Poisoned.

Cacnea found its feet and redied another Absorb attack. Greg wasted no time,

"Duck!" he shouted to his pokemon. Just as the small, green beam flew to Dino, the small dinosaur quickly crouched under it, avoiding any more damage. However it cringed again at the poison. Greg pondered for ideas, then noticed a small tree near where the two pokemon were fighting. It was dotted with several pink berries - Pecha berries.

"Wait - those cure Poison! Dino! The tree!" Greg called to his pokemon, pointing at the fruit covered plant, "Eat some of those berries!"

Dino took haste in running for the destination. Cacnea, refusing to let its opponent escape, followed suit. Dino came to the tree, but couldn't reach the berries. Cacnea came up behind it, readying a purple glowing arm. A physical Poison Sting, using its arms just as the pokedex said,

"Get out of the way Dino!" Greg yelled over. Dino, not even checking to see what it was avoiding, jumped to the side. Cacnea couldn't stop itself in time, and instead rammed its arm into the tree trunk. The force caused a few berries to fall to the ground. Dino immideately scooped up one of the berries and scoffed it down, causing the purple mark on its body to dissapear.

What's more, Cacnea's arm was stuck in the tree. Being a cactus, the spikes helped lodge it in. Greg grinned,

"Now Dino! Use Headbutt one more time!" he called.

"Cranidooos!!" Dino bellowed as it ran as fast as it possibly could for the stuck Cacnea. There was a loud thud, then a crack, as Dino had not only rammed into Cacnea, but snapped the entire tree in the process. The berry tree fell, kicking up dust and leaves and things like that. Greg ran over to the scene, where the dust cleared, showing Dino - heavily panting - and Cacnea, face first in the dirt.

Greg brought out an empty pokeball, "Go! Pokeball!" he exclaimed as he tossed the sphere to Cacnea. It bounced off the pokemon once, before opening and sucking it inside with a red light.

Greg patted Dino on the head as they both anticipated the result...

"Grass, grass and more grass" Jackie groaned and sighed "I've seen enough greenery to make me feel sick, not to mention there's no tree's in sight and I'm not trusting laying down in the place, cause who knows what'll jump out as us, the last thing we need is another Scyther incident..." Anorith nodded in agreement while Jackie trudged forward, walking through the grass for about 3 minutes now, she and Anorith had seen a few Oddish and Bellsprout and even a couple of Hoppip floating by, while they walked through the grassy plains, but Jackie wasn't interested in any of those, she had seen enough of them at home, plus Oddish bought up memories that she'd rather keep suppressed. Lets just say that when she was 14, Kurt was being a douche and it involved a shovel, hair gel and green paint, he had called it a game Jackie shuddered at the thought and kept on walking, there had to be something more interesting in this field of greenery.

He locked gazes briefly with Jackie, brown meeting green, eyebrow raised slightly, Jackie blinked and the boy gave her a slight smirk, this cause her brows to furrow, before turning around and walking off heading north, to where she guessed the next town was "That was. . . really weird" Jackie mumbled and Anorith nodded in agreement.

Being the kind hearted person she was, Jackie couldn't stand to leave the poor little Shroomish looking like that after it had fainted at her feet, especially since it lost, like super badly to both Cacnea and Farfetch'd "It was the right thing to do" she mused glancing at Shroomish, who gulped down the compost like a man starved, she grimaced slightly at the disgusting looking pile of forest trash "even if this possibly the most nastiest thing I've ever witnessed"

Anorith chittered and pointed its claws north, grabbing her attention, they really needed to go. Jackie nodded, Anorith was right, they had to get going "though I'm not really in a rush to get anywhere" she stood, with Anorith skittering up her pants leg and clinging onto her shoulder, it felt really weird having a shrimp crawl up your leg, she dusted off the butt of her jeans and glanced at Shroomish, who had stopped eating like it was starved to look at her "Smish?" It blinked and Jackie smiled softly "As lovely as it had been to watch you pig out on compost, we've gotta get going now, okay Shroomish"

"Shroo. . . mish?"

"Yeah, we're heading that way" she pointed north "we're on an adventure of sorts" she grinned and Anorith spoke up from her shoulder, chittering lightly "Well, I'll be seeing ya!" She waved and then turned around to start walking off, but the sound of a body shifting through the grass alerted her, Shroomish stood at her feet "Shroo. . ." Shroomish looked thoughtfully up at Jackie and then gave her a big smile "Shroomish Shroom!" She guessed it was saying thanks or something and Jackie nodded, giving it another wave before leaving the area, they still had a ways to go before they got out of this grassy place.

"Hey look Anorith, I see a cabin up ahead! Now I can sleep!"

Anorith smiled, while Jackie continued forward, her sight set on the wooden cabin, that would undoubtedly be their resting quarters "I'm so happy to finally be away from all that grass." she paused thoughtfully for a moment and glanced back at the grassy field behind them "I hope Shroomish is alright, I wonder what the little thing is gonna do now."

"Smfwsh!"

Jackie blinked at the odd sound that had come from the field behind them, she glanced at Anorith who looked back at her and then they both tensed, ready to see what would come tumbling out the bushes "Msfwooom!" It was Shroomish! The little spotted mushroom came stumbling clumsily out the grass. . . with an odd green dish in its mouth? Shroomish shook itself free of whatever greenery had gotten stuck to its skin while it traversed the giant leafy blades of doom, also known as tall grass and glanced up at Jackie, a smile splitting its face "Smfwsh!"

"Shroomish?" Jackie blinked and the mushroom nodded "What are you doing here?" Shroomish stepped forward and motioned to the disk in its mouth, it held it out to Jackie, who took it and stared at it curiously, it was a small green disk with the words TM09 etched at the top "TM09? What are you giving this to me for"

"Smish! Smish! Shroomish!" Jackie blinked, watching as the mushroom made odd gestures, she was amazed that it could pull off such a feet without arms, but it did. Jackie shook her head "I don't have a clue what your saying." Shroomish groaned, looking dejected, Jackie laughed nervously and waved her arms about the last thing she wanted to do was make it upset "B-But don't worry, I'll keep it alright?" Shroomish perked up at those words and smiled happily at Jackie, who couldn't help but give a tiny grin back.

They stood like this for a few awkward beats and then Jackie spoke up, rubbing at her arm "Soooo, shouldn't you be leaving now or something?"

"S-Smish" Shroomish nodded slowly, but didn't turn to leave, instead it just stared at Jackie with its tiny black eyes "Shroo. . ." it trailed off kicking its foot on the ground bashfully Jackie just shrugged and turned towards the cabin "Well, thanks from the TM Shroomish, but we've gotta get going, I'll be sure to put this baby to use alright" Shroomish watched with wide eyes and a gaping mouth as Jackie just walked away, about to enter the PokéCenter.

"S-Shroomish!" Shroomish took a slight step forward, calling out to Jackie who paused with her hand on the door to the cabin, she glanced back curiously at Shroomish, who faltered slightly under her gaze "S-Shroom. . ." Jackie didn't understand, what the heck did Shroomish want? She wanted to sleep darn it, she hadn't had a chance to take a nap since she stepped a foot off the boat that bought her here "What do you want Shroomish, I'm trying to go take a nap, not to be rude or anything but I really wanna sleep" she murmured lowering her eyes upon remembering they Scyther incident "Stupid Scyther ruined my nap time"

Shroomish sweated a bit before gulping, it was obviously now or never, since the girl seemed to be looking very peeved right now "Shroomish. Shroom." Shroomish stepped forward again and stared her straight in the eye "Shroomish!" He tilted his head towards the bag at her hip and she blinked "You want some food?"

"Shroom. Shroomish. Smish!"

"You have to go to the bathroom?"

"Shroom Shroom!"

"You want the disk back?"

"Shroo. Shroom. Mish. Shroom."

"You want Anorith?"

Sweet Oran Berries, how dense was this girl!?

Anorith spoke up, chittering to itself before climbing down Jackie's shoulder and getting into battle stance. Shroomish sighed in relief, at least one of them finally understood, Jackie stared at the two Pokémon who were facing one another, ready to fight and it was then when she finally put two and two together "Oh! I get it now! You wanna come with us!" If Shroomish had hands, it would've face palmed, instead it settled for rolling its eyes and nodding "Smish."

"Oh, well why didn't you say so!?"

"Smi—"

Shroomish closed its mouth, it wasn't even gonna comment. Anorith snickered briefly and then charged at Shroomish, the grass type was slightly caught off guard by the bugs speed, this resulted in Shroomish getting the daylights scratched out of it "Way to go Anorith!"

"Smiish" Shroomish frowned and then shook off the attack, jumping away from Anorith's claws, the bud on its head began to glow red, then a beam of light shot from Shroomish, engulfing Anorith and sapping its health, Anorith halted, suddenly feeling drained "Oh no, Anorith! What attack was that?" Jackie pulled out her Pokédex and looked it up.

Absorb
A nutrient-draining attack. The user's HP is restored by half the damage taken by the target.

"Oh, looks like we'll have to watch out for that attack then. . . Anorith, quick use Harden!" While Jackie had been preoccupied with her Pokédex, Shroomish had began to charge at the shrimp, he quickly responded to Jackie's words, covering himself with a protective sheen, causing the attack to be null and void. "Now, use Scratch!" Anorith cried out and then launched himself at Shroomish, knocking the mushroom over much like he did with Scyther and began scratching at the grass type's face.

"Shroo. Smish. Shroo!"

Shroomish shook off Anorith and charged at him, knocking the bug aside with Tackle Jackie couldn't help but wonder where this persistence was when it fought Cacnea "Shrooo" Shroomish's head began to glow again, it was getting ready to use Absorb once more "Oh no! Anorith get away, Shroomish is going to use Absorb!"

Anorith said nothing, while the beam from Shroomish's head shot at it quickly, but by some stroke of luck, or perfect timing, Anorith wiggled his tail and Mud Shot came shooting from the tip, colliding with the Absorb attack, effectively canceling it out.

"Whoa, what's that?"

Mud Sport
The user covers itself with mud. It weakens Electric-type moves while the user is in the battle.

"Wow, even though that wasn't an electric type move, it was a great shield. Now lets go, Scratch Anorith!" Anorith lunged at Shroomish again, barreling the mushroom type over, attacking its face once more Shroomish cried out and tried to shake Anorith off, but he hung tight, continuously clawing at the mushrooms face, this lasted for a few seconds before Jackie told Anorith to back off, when it was pretty obvious that Shroomish was weakening and she pulled out one of her empty Pokéball "Okay, here go's" Jackie tossed the ball at Shroomish, it bounced off the mushroom's head and landed on the ground, sucking it inside. The red and white ball rolled back and forth and all Jackie could do was wait.

"Death" The word kept repeating itself in his head over and over again as Beo just laid on the ground emotionless. The reason death kept repeating in his head is because many times he considered it for himself. After all it's not like anyone would miss him, he was alone in this world since the day Zypher died. Of course he blamed it all on himself, he was hallucinating and accidentally knocked Zypher into the ocean. Since that day he became a closed book, and started hiding away from the ones he loved at one point.

The sun was now beating down on him, oh how he hated the sun, not because it made him sweat, or even because it made it hotter outside. No it was because it brought light to the world, he hated the light most of all because it brought joy, hope, and happiness to people. Beo thought the world should be shrouded in darkness just like his life, so everyone would know how he was feeling. Finally he got up and decided he better start heading towards the next town.

"Hmph" he muttered as he looked down the long path in front of him that was covered in thick, tall grass. None the less nothing was going to stop him from gaining power especially a little grass. Kabuto's pokeball dangled back and forth on the boy's belt and it almost makes you feel sorry that he got Beo as a trainer. After all the say the pokemon adapts to the personality of there trainer.

As Beo trudged further and further along the route pushing the tall grass in front of him out of his way he noticed out of the corner of his eye that damn cloaked man with his back up against a tree just waving his index finger back and forth at him. He wanted to charge at him and punch him square in the ribs, and maybe finally get some answers but he knew he would just vanish again if he got close. While Beo was lost in his thoughts a group of oddish began sprinting across tripping Beo, who fell flat on his face.

"AHHH!!" he shouted in pain as he sprung to his feet, his nose dripping blood but that didn't bother him. Beo then noticed the three oddish who had tripped him up, they were laughing, and an errie grin grew across his face.

"Sooooooo you like to mess with people do ya? Well you've messed with the wrong person" he said softly as they turned there attention to him and stopped laughing once Beo started laughing. He unclipped Kabuto's pokeball from his belt and rolled the ball on the ground ever so slowly that it landed right on the button allowing Kabuto out.

"BUTO!" Kabuto shouted as it clenched it's claws together in anger.

""Now Kabuto teach these pokemon a lesson with scratch!!" Beo ordered as Kabuto charged at the group of oddish who were still stunned by Beo's laughing. Kabuto hit all three of them directly but to Beo's surprise they had taken no damage, instead it looked as though Kabuto was hurt.

"So there using absorb..." Beo whispered as the three oddish started running away into the grass. This just made Beo smile an even bigger grin, he took off and cut the three little grass pokemon off in there tracks causing them to be stunned once again.

"HAHAHAH, I told you, you messed with the wrong trainer today" Beo said as he knelt down in front of them, they began back up. At the same time Kabuto was charging at there backs. "Kabuto now scratch!" Beo shouted hysterically as Kabuto tackled one of the Oddish's out of the pack and began clawing away ravagely at the little pokemon with it's sharp claws.

"Dis... oddish.." the two others said softly in terror as they watched there friend get beaten horribly. The grin on Beo's face was huge now, his eyes full of anger.

"Next" Beo whispered as Kabuto turned it's gaze to the other two oddish's and tackled another one once again scratching away at it. There was only one more left, and it was helpless.

"ODDISH!!!" The pokemon shouted in anger as it must of had enough of watching it's friends get beaten.

"Aww isn't that cute it wants to actually fight hahah funny stuff" Beo said as he nodded for Kabuto to attack it. Kabuto jumped off the last oddish and darted for the final one.

"To! Ka!" Kabuto shouted as it readied it's claws only to swing and miss as Oddish jumped into the air.

"Oddish!" the pokemon shouted as it used an absorb attack taking some energy out of Kabuto.

"Well now thats a surprise, hmph Kabuto finish this with acient power!!" Beo shouted as Kabuto planted it'self into the ground and started to glow. The earth around him started to leviatate into the air and were flung at the oddish knocking it back hard into the ground.

"Ha now that wasn't so bad, Kabuto finish it" Beo ordered before looking over to see the oddish slowly getting back to it's feet, no energy left but still wanting to fight to protect it's friends.

"I admire your courage and determination, but really friends are weakness" Beo said as Kabuto jumped ontop of the oddish and began scratching it.

"ODDISH!!" The pokemon screamed out in pain. An odd look grew on Beo's face.

"Kabuto stop" Beo ordered as he grabbed a new pokeball from his bag and tossed it at the oddish. "Let's see if the pokemon wants to keep fighting if not then it's to weak anyways" and with that Beo stood there waiting to see if the pokeball would stay close or if the oddish would have enough energy to break free.

Oh how he hoped it would break free.

Shadowyashi: Great post! I loved the awkwardness of it all. Congrats, you have captured a level 5 male Shroomish and Anorith grew to level 8!

Sacred Beo: Beo, you aren't allowed to use Ancient Power yet until the * disappears next to it. I said that in the post with the route pokemon, so don't let it happen again. Alright, as Oddish are common pokemon, they are easy to capture! Muhaha, so you have captured a level 6 female Oddish and Kabuto grew to level 8!

Alright, we just have a few more people to post and then I'll get the next chapter up. This is going fast! :D

Jackie picked up Shroomish's ball once it had stopped rolling "Looks like we've got a new member on the team Anorith" Anorith nodded with a small smile and then Jackie turned around, heading towards the cabin PokéCenter, she asked Nurse Joy to heal the only two Pokémon she owned, the pink haired woman disappeared behind the back with both her Pokémon, who were in their respective balls. Jackie glanced around the cabin, it looked pretty empty "I guess I'm the first one here. . ." Moments later, Nurse Joy came out from the back with her two Pokémon, Jackie called them both out and she glanced down at Shroomish, studying him intently.

The mushroom blinked curiously up at her "Smish?"

"Freckles." Jackie mumbled and Shroomish looked completely lost "Shroomish?" the brunette smiled "Its your name, I'll call you Freckles from now on, since you have spots all over your face" she laughed lightly and moved towards one of the couches in the lobby, sprawling out on one of them Anorith and Freckles looked at her but she just waved them over "C'mon and get comfortable, I wanna get some shut eye while I can, I probably won't be lying on something this cushiony once we leave so I'm milking it for what its worth" Anorith chittered, a small smile on his face before he crawled his way onto the couch and made himself comfortable on Jackie's stomach, they both then glanced at Freckles who looked slightly unsure.

"What's wrong Freckles, aren't you tired?"

"Smish. . ."

"Aww, you have nothing to worry about now come here" Jackie stretched her arm out from her spot on the couch, the arm rest pillowed her hair and her feet hung off the other end, the couch was a bit to small. . . or she was just too tall. Freckles walked over to where Jackie was and she scooped him up with her one arm, placing the mushroom on her torso beside Anorith, she then folded both her arms behind her head and shut her eyes, whispered to both her Pokémon to have sweet dreams before she drifted off into dream land.

No less than a few minutes after she got comfortable, a loud shriek coming from outside filled her ears. Jackie cursed her luck while her eyes shot open and she sat up quickly, Anorith and Freckles were already in her lap, glancing around for where the scream came from "Shroomish! Smish Shroo!" Freckles jerked his head in the direction of outside and Jackie groaned, rising from the couch she walked towards the door and opened it.

Her eyes widened at the sight.

The Grassy Plains had somehow managed to catch on fire! "Oh no. . ." Jackie glanced at Freckles and the Shroomish had a mixture of confusion and fear etched on his face, his previous home was up in smoke, the fire was quickly spreading and the trio watched as Pokémon began pouring out of the area left and right as the smoke thickened and the flames grew. "You girl! Help me stop the fire!" Nurse Joy barked as she and her Chansey began dousing the flames with Water Pulse "R-Right! Umm..." Jackie's eyes scanned the surrounding area, there was no lake or anything in sight, this would be a bit hard, she bit her lip thoughtfully and stared at the flames licking the grass "Okay, aside from water, sand and dirt can douse flames. . . Oh! I know! Anorith use Mud Shot on that patch of fire over there!" Jackie pointed to a path a grass nearby that was catching fire rapidly, the bug flicked its tail and mud came shooting from the tip, the instant it hit the flames, the fire was put out.

Jackie grinned "Alright, keep it up with Mud Shot Anorith, we've gotta get rid of this fire!" Anorith nodded and then he began to fire mud all around the clearing, hitting random spots of flames and killing them quickly, but it didn't help much, just one Pokémon wouldn't be able to douse an entire forest fire. Jackie had also began to help douse the fires, rolling up the sleeves of her hoodie and taking clumps of soil and tossing it onto the flames, she went glanced at Freckles, who was still standing by the cabin gazing wide eyed at the rapid destruction of its previous home "Shroosmish. . ." he mumbled still in shock.

"Freckles, snap out of it! This is no time to be upset."

"Sm-Smish" the Shroomish turned to Jackie and looked at her with watery eyes and she felt some what bad for telling him to not be upset, she clenched her fist, grimacing slightly when dirt smashed between her fingers and got stuck under her nails, and frowned slightly "Look, I know this is pretty bad but if you don't help this whole place is going to burn down! Now if you don't want this to happen and at least attempt to save some part of your old home, then I suggest you get to kicking up dirt!"

This little speech seemed to snap Freckles out of his saddened state, as he noticed in realization that Jackie was right and if he didn't help her there probably wouldn't even be a forest to save once this fire was finished with it "Smish." Setting his face into a grim line, Freckles moved away from the cabin and began to use his feet, to kick up as much dirt as he could onto the fire, making sure to not get too close, with him being a Grass type, this fire would hurt him a lot "Shroosmish!" Freckles kicked his stubby leg out harshly and quite a hefty amount of dirt wound up flying in random directions, most of it thankfully his the flames. . .

The other however hit something else.

"Slugma. . ." a voice growled loudly and Jackie, Anorith and Freckles stopped kicking/throwing/shooting mud/dirt at the flames, an odd flaming slug came from out of the fire, clumps of dirt could be seen on its face and bits of its body, a noticeable glare was also on its face "Whoa! Its a Slugma!" Jackie pulled out her Pokédex and scanned it.

Jackie exclaimed worriedly, her eyes widening as the slug turned and glared at her and Anorith.

Chapter One

Priscilla whistled. The lab, though old, was impressive. It was made of large slabs of white, cement-like stone and was at least twice as big as the gym she had spotted on the opposite shore of the lake earlier. Two chimneys sprouted from the dark slate roof. Small windows had been set neatly into the walls at regular intervals. The massif front door had been sculpted out of oak and was decorated with flowery carvings and a round, polished handle.

She knocked. Nearly immediately, the head of a Professor's aide poked out of the doorway. He had a mass of curly brown hair and was dressed smartly in a white labcoat and a pair of faded, dark blue pants. His glasses were slightly crooked as he gazed at her from top to bottom, as though analyzing the newcomer.

"You are?" he asked, not lifting his eyes from her.

"Priscilla Vallieres," the girl replied airily. "May I come in?"

The aide held open the door for her. She stepped inside without so much as a thank you, which seemed to annoy him, since his tone was somewhat clipped as he said, "Follow me." He strode off briskly down the hall, at a pace that Priscilla had to jog to keep up with. Finally, the pair stopped in front of a white door, identical to all of the others they had passed in the corridor, except for a sign reading "STUDY" in big bold letters hanging onto it. The aide knocked.

"Come in," a muffled voice answered.

The door swung open without a sound. The hinges must have been oiled very recently. They entered a modestly-sized room, cozily warmed. Flames crackled in a large stone fireplace that took up most of the space in the center of the study. They cast eerie shadows across the white tiled floor. The room basked in a flickering, iridescent light. Bookcases stacked with encyclopedias and the such lined the walls. In the upper right corner of the room, a single desk stood. Heaps of research papers and notebooks covered its every surface. Pens, rulers, and measuring tape were sprawled messily over these. A gray armchair sat across from the desk, it, too, loaded with paper. Next to it, a tiny shelf containing small tubes filled with differently-coloured liquids was leaning against the wall.

A bearded, middle-aged man was crouching by the fire. At the sound of our entrance, he stood up with more or less effort and said, "Thank you, Whittleton. You may be on your way now."

Whittleton bowed and left. Professor Leef turned towards Priscilla. "I'm Professor Leef," he said. There was a pleasant twinkle in his eyes. "It's a pleasure to meet you. You're Miss Vallieres, correct?" She nodded. "As I thought. Your parents contacted me earlier, predicting your arrival. Now then, let's get down to business, shall we?"

Leef led her to his desk. He dug into the pile of research work and brought out a shiny, red-and-white ball. It was either brand new or had been polished very recently. Then, he slid a red device out of one of his many pockets and handed the two to the teenager.

"I trust you know what these are?" he asked.

"Yes," Priscilla replied. She uncoiled the chain around her left leg, looped it in the Pokedex' handle and attached it to her neck. Then she fastened the Pokeball onto her hair ribbon, which had a special latch on it that was designed for this very purpose.

"Very handy," Leef remarked, amused by the originality of today's youth. He suddenly turned serious. "But I hope that you understand that raising Pokemon isn't a game. It's a very big responsibility. This isn't like in the video games. Pokemon are real, live beings and have feelings. There's no way you'll succeed unless you take this seriously."

Priscilla nodded mechanically. She had heard the same speech from her parents. God, why couldn't they just leave her alone? She would do things her own way. Leave her some air, would they?

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Leef watched from the window as Priscilla left the lab. He had sensed that that girl was...different. Although that wasn't always a bad thing, he couldn't help being worried. Not to mention that the Pokemon she had taken was...

Priscilla unlatched the Pokeball from the ribbon and tossed it into the air. It sprang open in a bright flash of light, which soon metamorphosed into a tangible figure. The ball, now empty, fell back onto the grass with a soft thud.

The Pokemon that had been released was quite a unique one. It resembled a large purple clay pot, orned with gold markings, with a flower sprouting out of the top. It had long, floppy pink petals and small, round eyes of an eerie glowing yellow. The rest of the face was hidden in the darkness.

"Lileep," Priscilla murmured. At the same time, the Pokedex hanging from her neck lit up. She switched it back off. She already knew Lileep's data. She had no need of the machine's analytical prowesses. However, knowing its moves would be useful, seeing as they varied from each specimen to another sometimes, so she flipped open the Pokedex' screen. Immediately, a low, whirring sound was heard. Only seconds later, two words appeared. Priscilla grimaced. Only two attacks, none of them very strong.

"All right, Lileep," she said. "You're going to have to undergo some major training. I want you to have at least three moves before we enter the first route."

Unfortunately, the moment she pronounced those last words, a silhouette sprang out of the grass and landed a few paces in front of them. It was a green bug, with a small, triangular head and beady black eyes. Instead of arms it had two large, sharp scythes. Its body was strongly built and its two other legs looked sturdy and possessed three claws each. A Scyther.

Priscilla mentally facepalmed herself. A Scyther. Great. We're doomed. She glanced behind her. The professor's lab wasn't all that far away. Perhaps if she ran, she would make it.

But Lileep wouldn't. There was no way that thing could crawl fast enough. And after the way Leef had preached to her about responsibility, how would he treat her if he noticed she had abandoned her Pokemon? Best case scenario: he wouldn't give her another Pokemon and would call her parents. Worse case scenario: he would slam the door in her face. Well, wasn't she in a pleasant situation.

She had no choice other than to fight. "Lileep, Astonish."

The Lileep was more or less pleased to fight the scythe-armed warrior. Nevertheless, it grunted and flung itself into the Scyther, its tentacles wrapping around its green-plated body. The Scyther, ticked off, turned its scythes towards its ennemy. The sharp blades cut into the soft, pink petals. Wincing, Lileep withdrew them into its pot and the Scyther, now free, brought its natural knife down on its head.

Priscilla rolled her eyes. As she had expected, wild Pokemon were stupid. As the scythe hit Lileep's armor, the clanging sound of metal on metal was heard. The Scyther's Scratch attack slid harmlessly off the plant-ish Pokemon's improvised Withdraw.

"Now, while it's confused, Astonish again!" Priscilla called. "Its joints are its weak spots!"

Lileep, more confident, slammed itself into the Scyther, who, disoriented by the hit on the head, flinched. Then the Lileep wrapped its tentacles around the joints of its arms and legs, that weren't covered by the metal plating like the rest of its body, and squeezed. The Scyther screeched. It tried moving its scythes, but could not move its arms. It thrashed wildly, its wings fluttering uselessly against the ground, weighted down by the Lileep's heavy pot. Finally, it fell limp. Priscilla's Pokemon released its grasp and slithered off.

Priscilla nodded, satisfied. Her Pokemon could put up a fight. She returned Lileep to its Pokeball and gazed at the winding road beyond. She wondered how many of these ennemies there were out there.

Neiko Star: Good post! I can already see a bond forming between Lileep and Priscilla! Anyways Lileep grew to lvl 7! Now move on to chapter 2!

The ball stopped rolling.

"Wooo!!" Greg cheered as he ran over to the sphere and clutched it in his hand, scanning it with the pokeball,

"Okay! So it's a girl!" he turned to Dino, "Hey buddy! May have found you a gal here!" he laughed. Dino scoweled,

"Right, I'll call you Sharpie! I mean, you're a cactus. Duhh..."

Clipping the ball to his belt, Greg and Dino looked ahead,

"Forward Dino! The only way to go!"

They both walked for a few more moments, before coming across a small wooden building. Greg smiled - it looked cozy. And cozy was good.

He returned Dino to his pokeball and entered the cabin. It was actually a small Pokecentre! Like a pit-stop sort of thing,

He placed his pokeballs on the counter, "Can you work the old magic Nurse?" Greg asked.

Nurse Joy giggled, "Okay! I'll be one moment!"

Greg wandered over to the window and stared out. He could see some sort of glow approaching,

"Sweet! A forest fire!" he exclaimed.

But it was heading their way...

Towards a wooden building.

"...Son of a-"

(OOC: I hope that last bit is allowed :P And I know it's short, but I need to catch up...)

Zeph: Good post! And no worries I need to catch up to anyways ha! Now move on to the next post!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Now onto my post!)

Beo looked down to see the pokeball had stopped moving.

"Ding" the ball sounded and with that an angry expression grew across his face.

"Great now I just caught a weak pokemon who couldn't even fight it's way out of a stupid pokeball!" Beo said as he slowly knelt down besides the newly captured Oddish's pokeball picking it up and tossing it up in the air several times. "What to do, what to do, well I guess i'll just have to keep you until I figure out a use, haha a use for an oddish that's great" Beo said as he clipped Oddish's pokeball next to Kabuto's on his belt.

As he started walking further and further down the route he finally came upon a strange cabin.

"Hm, I wonder if any lives here.." Beo knew it was going to be getting dark soon and as much as he loved the darkness he hadn't slept in a real bed in a long time. "If someone lives here i'll just have to kill them". And with that he entered the cabin but once inside he had not expected to see what he did. Inside of the cabin was actually a pokecenter and unfortunatly there were trainers everywhere. He pulled his hood over his head as the trainers gave him a quick glance then turned back to there own business. If there was one thing Beo hated it was other people. Beo decided it would be best to heal his pokemon so he unclipped his two pokeballs and set them down on the counter in front of the Nurse.

"Um excuse me can I help you?" The nurse said pretty taken back that Beo didn't even ask her he just set them there. He then turned and faced here, his hood still covering his head.

"You can help me by your doing your job" Beo said rudely, he so badly wanted to get out of the pokemon center... Bad things happen when he gets around people.

"Unfortunatly I can't turn away hurt pokemon, or I would kick you out of here" The Nurse said as she took the pokeballs into the back room to be healed. Beo just smirked and grinned while looking down at the floor, he did not want to make eye contact with anyone, or they may engaged him in coversation. After awhile of waiting the nurse finally returned with his pokemon on a tray.

"What took you so long" Beo said trying to piss her off more. He quickly grabbed the pokeballs and clipped them back on his pants. He then began heading for the exit when he noticed an orange and redish light coming towards the center.

"Oh my god the forest and oath are on fire!" A few trainers shouted in horror, as the nurse grab Beo by the back of his hoodie and pulled him towards her.

"You've got to help put the flames out, there are sick pokemon in here!" She shouted in fear. Beo just frowned.

"Oh i'm sorry, I don't give a crap about any one else or there pokemon, they can all die for all I care" He said with no emotion as he removed her hand from his hoodie and headed back for the exit. As he exited the cabin he noticed a few of the trainers had started to put the flames out. This annoyed Beo, "See this is the problem with humanity everyone is to busy worrying about other people, to actually unlock there pure potential and power" he smirked as he began to walk away from the cabin before noticing something moving out of the flames, it was a small slug creature only it was on fire. He quickly whipped out his pokedex and scanned the group of pokemon that were headed at the center.

[PokeCommunity.com] Lenore Region (2)

"Slugma, the fire slug pokemon, its fire body ability makes it a worthy foe to almost any oppnent" The pokedex read aloud as Beo realized a way he could get stronger and get rid of some extra bagagae. He reached down and pulled out Oddish's pokeball.

"Well this is your chance to prove to me you can be strong, if not i'll let you burn to death and then catch the slugma that killed you" Beo said as he tossed Oddish's pokeball out onto the grassy in front him.

A wide grin grew across as his face.

The shrimp Pokémon quickly scurried to the left to avoid the red pellets, he then flicked his tail and fired a glob of mud at the Slugma, who cried out when the brown gunk hit it, causing Slugma to shake its head while trying to clear its eyes. Anorith quickly scurried up to Slugma and began slashing at the slug, while it still tried to remove the mud from its eyes "Slugma! Slug!" After Slugma had knocked Freckles away, she had attempted to run and find him, but Slugma was standing in their way, guarding the area behind it and shooting embers of flame at them, leaving Jackie with no choice but to fight "I hope your okay Freckles. . ."

Eventually it managed to get the mud off of it face, after a minute of struggling, it then fired Ember at point blank, hitting Anorith and causing the bug to shrink back as the pellets exploded in its face "Slugmaaa!" While Anorith was stunned by the point blank Ember attack, Slugma also released a heavy Smog, causing blackish green smoke to cover the area, Jackie had to shield her mouth, nose and eyes to keep from inhaling the toxic smoke "A-Anorith! Are you okay!?" She coughed slightly and squinted her eyes while attempting to make out the black figures moving around in the smokescreen Anorith didn't answer and this began to make Jackie worry, as she could only watch the two Pokémon duke it out while being covered by a thin veil of poisonous smog.

After about a minute or so, the smog began to clear and Jackie was able to see just what was going on in the middle of the flaming area, Anorith and Slugma were staring one another down, with Slugma panting and Anorith looking a bit tired himself, he must have been protecting himself with Harden, cause she didn't see many burn marks or anything on his body, Jackie released a relieved sigh while looking at the two Pokemon "Phew, at least Anorith came out sa—Anorith!" The brunette gasped when a wall of flame suddenly surrounded the shrimp, causing him to shriek in pain, despite being able to hold his own against the Slugma, the bug had gotten burned from an Ember attack, which probably got fired during the time her vision was obscured by the smokescreen "Or it could've been Slugma's Flame Body" Jackie though, recalling that in one of her books she read, about Slugma's ability to cause a Pokémon to get burned upon touching them "Anorith! Are you alright!?"

Anorith chittered softly in response before nodding "Okay, do you think you can continue battling?" Anorith nodded again and Jackie set her worried expression into a determined one "Okay, lets finish this quick, you aren't looking so good. Now Scratch!" With a jerk of her arm, she pointed dramatically at the Slugma and Anorith gave a slight nod before he skittered forward and began scratching furiously at Slugma, causing the slug to cry out before it collapsed on the ground, eyes swirling.

Jackie sighed and smiled at Anorith, who was looking pretty wiped out from the battle, that last attack virtually sapping the rest of his strength "You did good Anorith, you deserve a nice rest but first we gotta go check on Freckles, he flew pretty far. . ." she murmured thinking about the bad luck her Shroomish seemed to have when it came to battling opponents who liked to bat him like a ball and send him flying. Anorith chittered softly in agreement and crawled his way over towards Jackie, he was almost at her feet when a barrage of rocks came shooting from out of the fire near the far left, Jackie's eyes widened and she called out to her shrimp Pokémon.

"Anorith look out!"

"Slugmaaa!"

Anorith reacted much too slowly, causing the Rock Throw attack from a newly arrived, probably to avenge its fallen comrade, odd silver colored and stronger looking, attack to slam into the shrimp, knocking him roughly back a few inches. Anorith chittered weakly, while the silver Slugma made its way over to Anorith, glaring at the bug, who grunted in pain as the wall of flame from its burn shot up again "Anorith!" Jackie just stood and watched as Slugma opened its mouth, ready to fire an attack, which would probably be Ember but before it had a chance to attack, a red beam of light came shooting from the far part of the flaming forest and Slugma faltered, in its attack suddenly feeling drained "uggmaa" it groaned, eyes drooping slightly.

"Freckles!"

"Shroosmish!"

It was Freckles to the rescue!

There standing a few feet away behind Slugma and Anorith, was Freckles who glared at the shiny Slugma, it didn't look at all fazed by the Ember attack that the previous Slugma they had defeated fired at him, in fact he was looking practically brand new, but that might've been because he had just absorbed a portion of Slugma's health, she slug growled after regaining its energy to move and then whirled around to glare at Freckles, who smirked at Slugma before sticking its tongue out at the fire slug tauntingly "Shroo. Shroomyeeeeh." Slugma's glare turned into a look of pure hatred and its eyes glowed white, causing little chunks of rocks to lift from the ground in front of it and shoot themselves at Freckles, who jumped to the right, effectively dodging the attack, he then followed up with another Absorb attack that drained Slugma again and then he rushed at the fire Slug, ramming it with his head using Tackle and causing the slug to skid back a few inches, away from Anorith, whom Jackie quickly scooped up in her arms.

"Smish."

"I'm glad to see your okay Freckles, we would've been there sooner, but these Slugma kept holding us up" Jackie explained to the mushroom, who just grinned at her "Shroo. Smish. Shroom." He murmured before turning back to where Slugma had slid back to, the fire slug had growled low in its throat before opening its mouth and releasing a large clear bubble that floated towards Freckles and popped in his face, the mushroom blinked before his eyes began to droop sleepily "S-Smish?" He muttered before his eyes closed and he fell onto his side, snoozing soundly, the Yawn attack had worked.

"Freckles! Wake up!" Jackie shouted, but the mushroom was still sleeping heavily and Slugma took this time to repeatedly attack with Ember and Rock Throw, shifting between the two for the next few minutes, while Freckles slept soundly, getting nasty looking bruises on its body, totally numb to any pain. However, after a few more minutes of this repetitive routine, Freckles woke up, yawning loudly but he then winced in pain upon feeling his newly acquired bruises Slugma was smirking smugly a few inches away from him "Sluggg" Freckles grit his teeth and glared at the fire slug "Shroosmish!"

"Freckles use Absorb and then follow up with Tackle" Freckles nodded and a red beam of light came shooting from his head, zapping Slugma and taking away a hefty amount of energy, leaving the slug looking drained and Freckles looking very healthy, he then rushed the slug, ramming it in the torso with his head again, causing the slug to skid back "Okay, now just keep on using Absorb okay, I don't want you to keep touching Slugma cause it has Flame Body and you might get burned." She warned the mushroom, who nodded and was about to use Absorb again, but Slugma had called upon Rock Throw again, pelting Freckles with rocks, but it didn't affect him too much, he even managed to stand his ground and take the attack as the tiny rocks pelted at his skin.

"Absorb!"

"Smish!" The red beam shot from Freckles head and he sapped the slugs energy, Slugma slumped forward upon being drained "Now wait until it regains some strength, then use Absorb again!" Freckles waited and did as told, Slugma would get some strength back seconds later after getting it absorb, but Freckles would soon repeat this process countless times, slowly draining the slug of any energy it had left, an effective strategy due to its flame body ability, Slugma would then begin to grow weaker, weak enough that it wouldn't be able to move or even use an attack and that was how Jackie and Freckles managed to defeat the powerful fire type, the fire slug was now panting heavily and glaring at Freckles, who was ready to sap its health for one last time, but Jackie held up her hand and stopped him.

"Hey wait Freckles"

The second Jackie had said that, the sky had began to darken and a roll of thunder sounded loudly around the area, angry clouds drifting in, a sign that a storm would be approaching. This suddenly made the trio aware of their surroundings, the fire was slowly getting under control, no longer raging like it was in the beginning and a lot of the forest had been burnt up badly. While they were looking at the aftermath of the forest fire, the two Slugma's that had attacked them, crawled away, satisfied with the damage they had caused "Shroo smish" Freckles murmured and Jackie nodded "Yeah, this place looks awful, but that's the power of fire, its an extremely powerful element that shouldn't be played with. Speaking of elements. . ." Jackie trailed off and glanced around for Slugma.

"Hey, where'd that odd colored Slugma go!?"

"Shroo smish" Freckle responded shrugging, though Jackie was a bit unsure how it managed to pull it off, she sighed and shook her head "Whatever, that's a good thing their gone, now I can go heal Anorith" said bug chittered in response while Jackie turned on her heel, facing the direction of the cabin "lets get back to the Center Freckles"

"Shroomish!"

"Thanks so much Nurse Joy!" The pink haired woman nodded and handed the two Pokémon she had given to the woman to heal, which she did so as thanks for saving the forest. Jackie released her two Pokémon, studying them briefly and making sure they were alright, before the three exited the Center, waving to the Nurse and telling her to take care before they left. Anorith was clinging to her back and Freckles walked by her side, the nurse had pointed her in the direction of the next town and she reluctantly decided to follow the woman's suggestions. Jackie sighed deeply as they walked down the burnt path, it had began to rain as soon as they stepped out of the PokéCenter, Jackie had pulled on her hood, because her hair was the worse when it was wet, but Anorith and Freckles enjoyed the tiny droplets of water that splashed against the earth, killing the fire and restoring life, seeing as how both their types needed water to survive this was the greatest thing ever for them, for Jackie it was just horrible, she sighed again and Freckles glanced at her funny "Shroosmish?"

"I'm upset, because this is the second time I lost a chance to nap! If I knew being a trainer was going to be this tedious, I would've never signed up for it" Jackie pouted angrily, while her Pokémon just stared at her silently, for a few moments, then they burst into laughter as Jackie sulked her way towards the next town, complaining about how there had better not be some type of natural disaster happening when she tries to take a snooze, otherwise there would be consequences.

This just caused them to laugh even harder.
