i was wondering if anyone wanted to replay oras with me? i've been super bored just playing it by myself... so maybe a pal or two would be fun! we could like battle after every gym or milestone in the game. we could start as soon as a someone replies to this thread, and once i transfer all of my 'mons to pokebank! ideas are welcome too!

I love how there's like at least three threads with the same topic going on right now xD I'm super down. There's a user who wants to do the same thing but he/she is just waiting on their DS in the mail. Would you be willing to wait another week or two? It would give us time to set up some guidelines, shit like that.

Yo! I really appreciate that both you and "PokeHunterBlack" are both willing to wait on me, I'm super excited for this game now! I have never done a playthrough with multiple people before, so I'm not really sure what kind of rules set ups of battles you guys would want to do, but I'll tell you what I messaged to "PokeHunterBlack", I am totally down with everything being available for use since I don't really want to restrict the game in any way (since I've never played it, I want to see it all!), which includes you guys can do Legendaries on your teams and all items can be used no matter how stupid good they are. I will admit, I personally am not a person who frequently uses Legends on his team, but I don't care if you guys want to. The other thing I figured was, we would probably battle each other after every gym, major plot point/event, and possibly after each Legend catch, I'm not sure if that's standard, but I figured that would make sense to do(?).
Everything else is whatever you guys want. :D
(Btw, I just checked my mail order it says the latest it will be is July fifth.Hope you guys don't mind!)

aa okay! i'll happily wait another week, no problem!

i'll gladly wait for your game to come! i'm fine with those guidelines too, as long as everyone is having fun! i don't usually use legends either on my team, makes the game laughably easy. maybe later someone can make a list of guidelines we all want! anyways, i hope your game arrives safely and on time :-)

Totally fine with these rules. I was gonna say, you've never played the game so restrictions would be lame :p Also we should say no IV bred Pokemon, since Mister Coffee has no access to those (unless by trade, in which case I'd be willing to help you out with getting your perfect team, if you wanted to do it that way). EV training should be ok seeing as you have access to that almost from the get go.

I'd be down to battle after every badge... the play-time between the badges isn't very long, and I feel like meeting up after every gym AND plot event, etc would be too much. But we could try, if you guys really want to! Man I'm so stoked haha. Can't wait.

I won't be doing any IV pokemon since I'm going at this game fresh and new, I'll wait until post game to be doing competitive quality monsters. However, I agree, EV train to your hearts content since that is easy to pull off and doesn't really distract anybody from a proper play through like a breeding routine might. Once we finish the playthrough and get into post game, I totally wouldn't mind playing with you guys further in a more competitive style with perfect pokemon and such.

I have no idea how frequent the events and plot points in this game are, if you guys say they're extremely frequent, I'll take your guys word for it, so if that's the case, a battle after each Gym specifically is totally fine with me. I also thought since there are probably some cities with no gyms, maybe we could battle every time we enter a new city, but I'm not sure if that would be too frequent as well.
I also heard (mind you I'm doing my best to not spoil the game for me since I want it to totally surprise me, but at this point it's near impossible for me to completely ignore features of the game that everyone is frequently talking about) that the pokemon contests have returned in the game, if so, can they be done against other players? If yes, would you guys be interested in attempting to battle in pokemon contests as well for a little bit of variety?

I'm not sure if you can do that but I THINK I remember seeing two receptionists in the contest halls. That's a great idea, I'm game if everyone else is.

    Great News!
I checked the mail today and my 3DS and Omega Ruby both came in the mail! I am super amazed at how early they got here! This distributor is going to get an amazing review from me. :P
I'm actually about to head off to work so I wont be able to set everything up right now but I'll try to get it started tonight when I get home. I can probably start the basics of the game tomorrow morning but I probably wont be able to do any intense playing until Sunday.
I'll contact you guys each in PM so we can all get started, oh and I think at this point we might as well declare this thread as our main playthrough conversation thread. Once again I appreciate your guys patience with me. :D

Wow that was like 2 weeks earlier than the expected 2 weeks! :p No complaints on my end lol. Ok so, how are we doing this. Is it like, as SOON as we beat the Gym Leader we save at a PokeCenter and wait for everyone to be ready? Or would we battle before?

I was brainstorming and came up with a few ideas. Every time I say "party" I'm referring to the party you use to battle other participants of the play-through. Rules on this list wouldn't apply to HM slaves, etc.

    • all challenges will be fought in the single battle format
    • battle after every badge
    • a level cap should be implemented in a way that coincides with how your Pokemon obey you in battle. For example, until you obtain the Stone Badge from Roxanne, you can only have Pokemon up to level 20. Once you get the Knuckle Badge, your level cap increases to 30. Dynamo Badge would be 40, and so on. Here's a list of the badges and their "level caps" in case you're wondering:
      Spoiler:
    • you may only use 3 Pokemon in your "battle" party until the 4th badge, at which time you may capture up to 3 more Pokemon for your party
    • pokemon contests would be held after every second badge, in order, starting with Normal rank and ending with Master rank

Annnddd that's all I can think of right now without making it too unenjoyable for your first play-through. Let me know what you guys think of these rules and add your own to the discussion! I didn't intend on actually restarting for another like 2 weeks so I'm totally unprepared right now xD

I'm super surprised with how fast it all got here. I mean, yes I did order both items on the 11th, but my order was not processed until the 14th, and then my order kept telling me the latest it would get here is the 5th of July.
Anyways, so far I like the rules you have set up. I think it would be really cool if we all battled after we beat a gym, since the beating of a gym is a pretty decent milestone and then us battling each other would be the start of the next chapter in our journey. :)
I'm also not sure if you guys want deadlines or not for how long it takes to get to each gym badge or not. I can have a fun time in the game and still meet a dead line as long as it spans across at least a week maybe two weeks, it's totally up to you guys though since you guys have more experience in OR/AS then I do.

i completely agree with these rules! good job with making them! just pm me or post in this thread when you're ready to get started! i don't really have anything to add though (super uncreative)

also, if you need to use pokemon bank to store any pokemon that you don't want to lose to restarting, i can make a special box for you and you can trade them over until you get your pokedex in game!

I actually just thought of something about the contests... I don't think you unlock them until you reach Slateport which is a little after the second badge, but not too far I guess so maybe it doesn't even matter. Do you guys want to set a date of maybe let's say June 20th to start? Just so we're all on the same page. Gives us a few more days to solidify the rules and get all our Pokemon in the bank, etc.

I don't think it will take you two weeks to get between badges. I literally beat this game in 10 days with a playtime of like 10 hours or something like that :p super easy. But I like the idea of having a deadline, just to make things that much more interesting :) maybe we could decide on the next deadline eachtime we complete a stage, or "battle" with eachother. So let's say we all get our first badge on the 21'st (just say), we could then say "ok so let's all try to beat the second gym by the 25th" or something along those lines. We can play around with the actual amount of time if you find it's going to quick for you! The important thing here is that we're all having fun :p

Also thanks for your offer of Pokemon Bank, danica! I have it too so if anyone needs to store Pokemon before they restart, feel free to msg danica or myself.

i like the idea of starting on the 20th! it took me three days to get through the whole game actually :) i can try to set up a time frame of when we can all battle since im going through the game right now (i have a powersave so i can just make a new save when we all start!) or we can just play it by ear!

The 20th sounds like a good start date to me as well! Also if you all say the story is easy to get through then I trust ya guys! I've just been pretty busy lately, so I just want to make sure there's a bit of a time allotment just in case I can't get as much gameplay in as I would want. Maybe we could have say a week to acquire the next badge, but we could all check in with each other here when we complete the task so that way if we all get it done early we can do our battles and such and then move on to the next badge which would have another week dead line.`I also don't mind if we have to do the contests a bit later, so long as we can eventually do them and challenge each other. I've never been a particularly good contest player in the past, but I really want to try to put a good effort into it this time around.

So I'm at the moment not really sure if I should actually start setting up the game now (in case I might need to alter some settings or something before we begin our actual game play), or if it would be better to wait until we're all settled to start on the 20th. Was there any setting up you had to do before beginning the actual game, or does the game just throw you right into everything? I don't mind waiting, I just want to be able to hop right into the game when you guys are ready to start rather than to spend a bunch of time messing around with settings or something like that.

And we are ok with Pokes bred from another game? I really like to playthrough with new selections and the basic ORAS stuff has been played to death haha ;)

I honestly think that should be up to Mister Coffee, as he's the only player without access to breeding. If he's ok with it, I'm ok with it. And, Mister Coffee, if you want a couple "special" Pokemon you can't get off the bat or even in this game, shoot any of us a message I'm sure we'd all be glad to help you out. Or at least msg me, I can't really speak for everyone involved in this. Anyway yeah, as far as I'm concerned if MC is cool with it I'm cool with it.

The week thing actually sounds a little better now that you put it that way... I'm starting a new job on the 4th and it's full-time so I might not have as much time as I think I'll have, either. So yeah maybe we could say a week deadline, but as soon as you beat the gym leader you could post in this thread and let everyone know you're good to go. If everyone is good before the week is over, we might as well BATTLE IT OUTTTTT >:D

Also, about setting up your game; you've never played before so I don't think anyone would mind (I wouldn't, at least) if you got a head start on things. It's not really fair to keep you waiting when you haven't even had a chance to try it. And then everyone else who has shit to finish up could just start on the 20th? Everyone cool with that?

So far everything is sounding pretty awesome! Last night I got everything on the 3DS set up, like the ID, internet settings, and all the upgrades and such, but I still haven't touched OR. I think the one week deadline would be pretty flexible for me, so if you are all cool with it, then lets try to use that and see if it works, and we can talk about the dead line again later if it doesn't quite work out for all of us when we're doing the playthrough.
You guys can have bred pokemon with special egg moves, abilities, and such, but I kind of want to not deal with perfect IV bred pokemon until post game. EV training is okay with me though since that's easy to do in game.
So is everyone okay with starting this monday? Are there any other rules, exceptions, or technicalities we need to go over before we start?

I'm good for Monday! I put the rules we have together so far:

    • battle after every gym badge
    • challenges are fought in single battle format
    • level cap as follows:
      • 1st badge: Lv 20
      • 2nd badge: Lv 30
      • 3rd badge: Lv 40
      • 4th badge: Lv 50
      • 5th badge: Lv 60
      • 6th badge: Lv 70
      • 7th badge: Lv 80
      • 8th badge: Lv 100
    • breeding pokemon for the play-through is ok, but no Pokemon bred specifically for perfect IVs
    • deadline of one week to obtain each badge, subject to change

I was also thinking, would you guys be down to lock in our parties? For example, if we catch a Pokemon we are going to add to our party, we would post it in the thread and then not be able to swap that Pokemon out of our party for another. Just makes it a little more fair and realistic imo. We can't "tweak" our parties to take out a certain players. But like I said, it's just a suggestion! And should we make another thread come Monday for the sake of organization?

I definitely like the idea of having our teams locked until we post in a thread that we are swapping a team pokemon for a reason such as covering a weakness hole in the team, or even just because we like the pokemon. Obviously, it will be kind of annoying if a pokemon is picked for hosing another player's team, but I think if we just post first that we're swapping a team member and for what reasons, and if we discuss it as a group, I think we can get it to all work out.
I think if we talk about our teams as we build them it will work out better. I personally like to tweak my team every once in a while as I make a playthrough of a pokemon game, most of the time I do it to adapt to the challenges in the game as well as design a team that supports itself well. I of course have no problem talking with you guys about my team as we're playing, and we can talk about the impact of the team addition will have in our battles and at that point we can negotiate anything that seems suspicious.
If it's any consolation, I'm in general not a fan of most "OU" pokemon, so you guys most likely wont see me playing many of them.
