I've waited almost a week to be able to catch that little bugger Drifloon, and I want to make it count. Since this is a Poke that you can save in front of, I would really like to have the best nature for him. However, there are no guides about D/P quite yet that say the preferred nature for him... so what would you guys say is the best nature for a Drifblim? Also, what would be the best moveset for him?

    His base stats are:

    (Type: Ghost/Flying)

    HP: 150 / Attack: 80 / Defense: 44 / Special Attack: 90 / Special Defense: 54 / Speed: 80

Not too good in the stat department, but his massive HP makes him quite capable in my book, and he has a pretty good typing. He would in no way make a decent Wall, if anything he's a mock-Sweeper (although his HP coulkd classify him as a mock-Wall), but I see him as more of an Annoyer.

I was thinking Modest (+Sp.Atk/-Atk), however his movepool includes Explosion, so I would like his Attack in top shape. And his Defenses are bad enough to make me not want to alter them with a Nature. For Explosion, Brave seems an option (+Atk/-Speed) or even Quiet (+Sp.Atk/-Speed), so I wouldn't kill his Attack.

As for movesets, this is what I've come up with:

    - Shadow Ball/(Calm Mind for Baton Pass)
    - Explosion (possibly Baton Pass or Thunderbolt, if Modest or Quiet)
    - Ominous Wind (chance of raising all stats and a STAB can't be resisted)
    - Substitute/Calm Mind/or maybe Rest

Any opinions on this big balloon?

he's only good for two things: unburden+salac berry moveset OR hypnosis + subpassing.

my driftblim has hypnosis and subpass.

It has quite a few immunities and resistances, but just as many weaknesses. It has poor defense but good endurance. It's definitely useable, I'd give it about a 6/10, but the sad fact is there are better choices for both Ghost types and Flying types.

Just remember kiddies, rarity does not necessarily equal usefulness.

Hypnosis is an Egg Move... I'm not gonna use him competitively, he's part of my planned In-Game Team. However, you are right: with his HP, he could make a great SubPasser. But he doesn't really have many stat-altering moves to make him a good all-round Passer, essentially all he can pass is Substitute, and what rare chances occur through Ominous Wind. Although Psych-Up could work with a Passer, granted they opponent has a lot of stat chances. But you rarely see that happen in In-Game playing, so I won't consider that one.

    Ichida:

Like I said, this is for In-Game... so I'm going to use him because I like him. And kiddie? Hey, I'm older than you! Respect your elders! haha, I kid!

    Ah! I've got it!

    Drifblim @ Chesto Berry
    Nature: Modest/Trait: Unburden
    252 HP, 252 Special Attack, 6 Speed
    - Rest
    - Calm Mind
    - Shadow Ball
    - Thunderbolt

Calm Mind up, with his giant HP it ensures it won't get KOed unless up against a bad weakness, Rest, Chesto Berry awakens it, Unburden kicks into play, and (try to) sweep. Seems like it could work.

I had a drifblim with fly, it's a VERY unexpected move for him to have, and you can't beat the STAB it gets =P

Granted, it's Att is 10 less then its Sp. Att, it is still very effective in combating pokemon like grass XD

    I had:

    Shadow Ball
    Fly
    Calm Mind
    Explosion

I refuse to use substitute or rest on my pokemon, makes me feel like I'm cheating...

yeah Driftblim with Fly and Powerful Herb would activate his Unburden ability, but fly is bad for competitive battling.

and the huge Subs he passes are well worth it especially after putting the foe to sleep with Hypnosis.

ACtually, I love fly in competitive battles, I almost always see things like sky attack, solar beam, etc used against me, and being able to dodge them is awesome =P

Yes, his subs are awesome from what I've battled, however, his type combination allows him a LOT of weaknesses, so that sub tends to die pretty fast (took me 1 turn 9/10 times, as a lot of my pokemon have sleep berries, and witha sleep clause, =P)

well the subs i usually pass are to medicham so that it always gets 2 bulk ups (which luckily it always does). medicham, on that team, is the only physical sweeper, and after a couple of bulk ups, the battle is usually over.

it's also really cool for switching in on focus punches and then putting the foe to sleep.

but fly is bad for competitive

Actually, it becomes useful in double battles! Nothing's better than being able to avoid Earthquake (usually doesn't affect flying anyways), but also Surf, since now it hits everyone. Fly up, Surf, no damage done to your own! But again, ONLY in double battles.

I know its not a good movest for my Drifblim, but its not like I'm going to battle with it with anyone but mines has
    Psychic
    Fly
    Explosion
