Well, this is my prospective in-game team. I think there are probably ideas open that I've overlooked, although I'm not breeding egg moves, or resetting the natures of them (except for Kingdra, Gyarados and Rhyperior).

Also, Rock Climb has to be used, so we can't scrap that, sadly. A final restricting factor is my laziness - I won't be getting tutor moves.

Oh, and this team is based around Silver from Pokemon Special, so there is a seventh option ;)

    Bashful Nature
Guts (currently a Teddiursa with Pickup)
@ Flame Orb (stolen off Falkner)

    Rock Slide
    Hammer Arm
    Avalanche
    Facade

Hammer Arm's speed drop isn't too bad...after all, Ursaring is slow anyway. This helps power up Avalanche, as a side-effect! I chose Rock Slide as the last option as I'm saving Earthquake for something even more powerful....obviously Facade's so damn powerful with that Flame Orb boosting Guts I'd be stupid not to use it.

    Adamant Nature
    Insomnia
    @ Sky Plate

    Aerial Ace
    Night Slash
    Giga Impact
    Steel Wing

Aerial Ace may look pathetically underpowered....but that's why I gave it the Sky Plate. The other moves are fairly powerful, with Giga Impact being a suicidal kill-all move.

    Jolly Nature
    Pressure
    @ Icicle Plate

    Night Slash
    Ice Shard
    X-Scissor/Dig
    Brick Break/Revenge.

Weavile has such brilliant coverage, I'm not sure if X-Scissor is worth it or not, however it's a cool move. Ice Shard is there as it's the best STAB option I've got until I can get a tutor. Dig is a cool move, useful in caves, with the added luckiness of power 80 and an invulnerable turn (yeah, Earthquake gets it, but Weavile wouldn't survive an Earthquake normally anyway). Brick Break is an option often found competitively...that or Revenge.

    Bashful Nature
    Torrent
    @ Splash Plate

    Hydro Cannon
    Crunch
    Superpower
    Rock Climb

Rock Climb's pretty powerful, and unlike Ursaring, Feraligatr doesn't really have better options bar Return, which is a horrid move due to my battling style. Ice Fang could've been used....but I have Weavile and Kingdra to cover that. Hydro Cannon is there to take advantage of the boost I get from Torrent once it drops below 1/3 hp. Add in Kingdra's supporting Rain Dance and Splash Plate....I'm no mathematician, but I think that's over power 200 STAB coming at you..

    Modest Nature
    Swift Swim
@ White Herb (stolen from Blaine)

    Rain Dance
    Surf
    Draco Meteor
    Ice Beam

Rain Dance can make it pretty much unstoppable, as well as boosting Feraligatr and Gyarados.
Ice Beam is powerful, and takes care of anything airborne, and dragons, should I not feel like using Draco Meteor. Draco Meteor is there instead of Dragon Pulse as I've stolen some White Herbs, and cloned some on Emerald, so I can repeatedly fire off power 140 STAB attacks...

    Jolly Nature
    Intimidate
    @ Stone Plate

    Stone Edge
    Waterfall
    Dragon Dance
    Earthquake

This is the pokemon I chose to gift Earthquake, as it's an epic move, and Gyarados appears capable of causing them...
Stone Edge, when boosted by a Stone Plate, is pretty powerful, although inaccuracy is a drawback.
Dragon Dance boosts two stats at once, which is really useful, obviously.
Finally, Waterfall. It's my most reliable STAB option, and when boosted by Kingdra's rain, and/or a Dragon Dance or two, is devastating.

    The Seventh Option
    Spoiler:

    Pretty decent team.

Although I'd pick Waterfall/Aqua Tail over Hydro Cannon. Recharge moves are (in my opinion) pretty bad. I'd also use Ice Fang over Superpower. You also don't get Rock Climb until well towards the end of the game, so that frees up a spot until then.

I also don't see a Fire-Type. Ho-oh, Entei, Magmar, and Arcanine are decent choices. Either include a Fire type, or teach one or two of your Pokemon Flamethrower (10,000 coins at the Game Corner). Just to cover more bases.

I've considered Fire Blast on Gyarados, do you think that's any good?

I did say "limited options" in the title, because the team's set (although I guess I could use Entei, as Silver was partnered with him). My Entei's got a Serious nature though.

The Aqua Tail advice is pretty good, I'll definitely consider that as an option.

How about this set? And what should it replace?

    [PokeCommunity.com] Limited Options, Versatile Pokemon.

    Serious
    Pressure

    Stone Edge
Eruption/Fire Blast/Flamethrower (depends what level it is at)
    Extrasensory
    Iron Tail

That's a pretty decent mixed set, I reckon. Can hit super-effectively: Bug, Fire, Flying, Ice, Grass, Steel, Fighting, Poison, and Rock. That's 9/16 overall.

    Fire Blast on Gyarados? Just...no.

Gyarados' Atk is much higher than it's SpAtk. Fire Blast won't really help it at all seeing as how its a Special move. Physical attacks work better.

And that set looks good enough for Entei. Especially considering how many types it hits.

Yeah...I know it's a special attack...it's just something that worked in LeafGreen...(even though Fire was a special attack).

Well, I'm so over-levelled, I may be swapping adding Entei to the team!

EDIT: I'm going to drop Gyarados, as it's the one I'm least fond of....also, out of my 3 water-types, it has the worst weaknesses, with 4x electric weakness.
