Linux: Do you use it?

Ummm no o_O I think you'll have to burn it to a CD and boot from the CD.

...

I got it in a CD, so that's what I did.

Just to a regular CD or a DVD, and I am gussing I choose the option "Burn as Bootable CD"...

OR you could download Daemon Tools, and run the ISO from your computer, from a virtual emulation drive: https://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/announcements.php this way you can save a CD. :)

Run Daemon|Right-Click the tray icon and select Virtual CD/DVD-Rom and set number of devices, click 1 drive, then the drive will be listed when you right-click again, hover over it and go to the right and click Mount Image, pick the ISO, and it will run.

No, not that way. Select the option to burn an image to disc in your burning software (it won't work if you just burn the file onto a CD). It will make the bootable CD for you. Then boot from it.

KDe Linux is quite popular in Argentina (most cheap Celeron computers have it), but I never used anything other than Windows. I prefer not to risk to have bad compatibility issues.
KDE is a desktop environment, not a distribution.

Sorry, I don't know about the dazillions distros in Linux. Remember I only use Windows?

Of course, just pointing it out :). Linux is built around the same kernel no matter what distro you use, it's just compiled differently and comes with different software packages. One of these packages is the desktop environment, which controls the look of the desktop. The main ones are KDE, which is prettiful unless in Kubuntu which uses a remarkably fugly implementation, and GNOME, loved by some but disowned by Linus Torvalds. There's others like Enlightenment too, but KDE and Gnome are the main ones, and most distros will use one or the other by default. ^_^

ZOMG YAY! X3

Really glad you got that set up! Ubuntu is my favorite distro so far~~ And yes, I noticed that Connect 4 game too XD

Linux is also great for privacy~ no one knows how to get into it on my computer, so anything I write is completely private =D So nice.

Ubuntu's decent but I don't like the way it handles permissions :(

Well I have been exploring it and I like it better than Windows. Windows has been givng me so much trouble in the past year, I am considering putting Ubutu on my half a year old laptop because of the way windows is acting on it. What do you guys think...or do you think I should keep calling Dell to help me fix the problem.

If you're a Linux n00b, DON'T use it as your primary OS. You could easily stuff it up and all~ also, you have to make sure you have readers and stuff for all your files.

Wow! I now have Kubuntu linux(at least the Live CD for now), and one of the things i think are bad about it, is Windows fonts > Linux fonts. Most of the linux fonts are fugly. But mostly, linux is ok.

I had used SuSE (version 10 or something), but I switched back to windows 2k now because I needed to use a bunch of my windows programs. Yeah I know there's windows emulators but I didn't feel like bothering with them. Some day I'll install my hard drive switcher. xD And recover my crashed windows hard drive X_x

SuSE is sooo freeking sweet looking, it's almost up to par with the new Macs. I hate windows icons. I hate windows 2000. I can't wait for Vista. Better than 2k.

GOOOOOO LINUX!

I do love SuSE. I will have to try version 10 sometime (when I go back to uni - I don't want to spend a week downloading again!) 9.1, the last one I used, was prettiful but I don't think it even included gcc in its package. At least, I couldn't find it. That sucked.

I like dual-booting, that way you get the full use out of your hardware no matter what OS you're using.

What exactly is dual booting? Having two OS's at the same time? *doesn't know much technical lingo*
It's having two OS's installed at the same time (usually on the same hard drive) and having the ability to easily switch between them, but not being used at the same time.

<_< I'm not sure if they have to be on the same hard drive or not though to technically be a dual boot.
