Looking to edit Emerald!

    I got my hands on a custom Gen III style sprite sheet for Lisia from ORAS, and I want to add her in as a character to Emerald. Not just as an opponent to battle, but a fully fledged character with her own sidequest, Battle Tower and Contest entries, and even her own Secret Base.

    Is all of that possible for a newbie? And what are some recommendations for getting started?

    If it helps, I have a small amount of experience with editing sprites from working on Sonic Mania.
     
    I have the sprites and I dumped my copy of Emerald, but I haven't downloaded the tools yet because I'm not sure which ones would help me with the Contest data.
