Loveless

Sorry, let me try to word myself a bit better:

The DVDs come with Japanese audio and English subtitles only. There is no seperate English audio track.

Is that better? ^^;

Ouch, that's harsh. All the dubs being produced these days are pretty good, with a few exceptions. ^_^

I personally think an English dub would've been good for Loveless. It definitely would've helped boost the DVD sales here in the US, no doubt. Shounen-ai in America is still a very small, and very niche market so not having an English dub sort of alienated half the audience. Don't forget, the majority of US anime fans still watch their anime in English. We are an English speaking country, after all. A casual anime fan isn't going spend their money on a subtitled-only release like Loveless when it doesn't come with an English audio track. Which is a shame, since the show itself is wonderful.

The problem is that, by being so niche, it's hard to justify the investment of dubbing it. Especially given that the niche audiences in anime tend to be very passionate about Japanese vocals in the first place. I'm not saying that they shouldn't have dubbed it, but I can see why they didn't.

I meant that a bad english dub can easily ruin the amount of people who buy it. Like Full Moon, and One Piece (why? why did the ruin Full Moon like that?! ;o;) Not by much, but some people are picky like that. And I see what you mean. I decided to wait a while for buying the DVDs and see if they're gonna make an english dub.

I agree with you too. I love thatdubbing in Japanese (especially Ritsuka's voice ♥) and it is a whole lot better in Japanese usually.

Anywayz~ Yeah, I let all my friends know that it was in Japanese(they were gonna go buy it this weekend.) and they said they were still going to buy it. Who knows? I might wait for the box set and buy it anyway! Its only like... $35.00 and its coming out really soon[according to one of my friends..]

I totally fell in love with this anime. *-* A few people I know had seen it before me, so I decided to check it out. It was very interesting, if a bit confusing at times. I wish we got to see more/learn more about Seimei. D: *grumbles* The art was beautiful and I thought the plot was pretty cool, too. I think it could have been better, but for being crammed into less than 20 episodes it wasn't too bad. *squees* :D
