I found the lucky eggs amazing. Whenever I was underlevelled I just used it until I was overlevelled. Post-game it was useful for training certain Pokémon.
 
Hellz to the yes! I'd have gone out of my mind levelling up without it! Lucky Egg + rustling grass = amazing.
