Here is how my last luring experience went.

    29:00 - Spearow - caught
    20:00 - Pidgey - caught
    13:24 - Pidgeotto - caught
    3:02 - Caterpie - ghosted

This is a rural area, I'm level 22 there are no pokestops within walking distance. As for lures, compared to when I was at the beach last week there is a huge difference as to what was attracted. I don't think that I will be buying and using anymore less I am at one of the parks we have to drive to which are littered with pokestops and Pokémon....

    Just my thoughts

Yep. I don't think it's just because you're rural though. I live in the city and my experience with lures has not been great unless there is a cluster of them all together. I'm not a big fan otherwise.

Haven't had a chance to try one in a city, would love to though, closest is a small city (44K people). Will have to give it a go when I have time...

Anywhere you can get two or three lures set up basically touching or even overlapping each other is what you're looking for. There may be places in some small towns that would have that dynamic, but I know for you rural players things are much more sparsely laid out and I feel for you.

Congrats to you on making it to that high of a level despite the disadvantage.

Lures are more effective when there are more people around, if you put a lure down then people are likely to see it and come over and the game will realise more players and spawn better Pokemon. However in rural areas if you put a lure down you might be the only person there so you will just spawn pidgeys/rattatas and maybe a few drowzees. If you know other people in your village that play them get them together and put a lure down and you should see better results

I've never heard this one before. Can you link us to your source on that?

Anyone know how to use a lure, I was standing by a pokestop and it said lure couldn't be used. Do you have to be a certain level? I assume not since you get them early on.

When you get to the poke stop open it up, there is a little white oval window towards the top/ bottom of the outer circle. Click on that and it will allow you to use your lure. Also if there is a lure going you can see who placed it. Hope that works for ya...

Lures just attracts the pokemon that are in that region, in the same ratio that you would find them by walking around. If you normally get loads of pidgeys and rattatas, well, that's what you're getting from the lure.
