by reading some threads here, I noticed that everyone talks about rare candys. i discovered RC in R/B cuz the missingno. glitch, and then I (always) use RC and cheat codes to lvl up my pokemons. But, I made an experiment:
I've done two games one in GOLD, where I used RC, and another in SILVER, without cheating and RC. I started both with Typhlosion. In the last gym, my typhlosion in GOLD(lvl 43) was worst in STATS than Typhlosion from SILVER(lvl 43)! Please dont use RC, with RC You dont proof that youre a good trainer! Train is good!
Although it is difficult to train in some games, I think we all should try to have some well-raised pok?mon.

I hope at least, that somebody follows my words.

NOTE: I dont use cheat and RC animore. Ive passed SILVER/GOLD/RUBY twice without cheat and with good pokemon.

It's time to flip through EV training and the Advanced Trainer's Guide in the strategy forum to understand why this is happening... I'll explain it again.

When a Pokemon level up, they gain a certain amount of stats depending on their base stats. Then further on top of that, their stats will increase further depending on the EV it gets. At lvl 100, 4 accumulated EVs will equate to 1 bonus stat points. By battling, you earn a certain type of EV stats and a certain amount of it (ex: Zubat gives 1 Speed EV, Spinda gives 1 sp.atk EV). That is why you gain more stats when you train in comparison to rare candy. When you train, you battle, and you'll earn EVs. When you use rare candy, you aren't earning EVs so that's why there's the difference in stats.

    HOWEVER

A Pokemon can only have up to 510 total of EV points, and at most 255 EVs per stats. This means that there is a total of EV points that you can earn. You won't be able to reach the maximum stats because of the cap in EV. Therefore, you must choose precisely just what stats you'll be needing. For example, if you have a Heracross, do you want special attack EVs? No, or else that will be wasting your stats. You will not be able to achieve the ultimate stats for a Pokemon without some careful planning of what EVs to earn. (you can look up EVs on *link removed* to see what Pokemong gives what EVs).

If you train blindly like how you do "the better way to train," then you're wasting your EVs away. You're fighting anything you see without planning what EVs you need, so eventually your stats will end up being scarred for life.

However, due to rare candy's unique property to level up without any EVs earned, this makes it the IDEAL training method. Use rare candies to level up yourself to an insane level. Now even though you have 0 EVs on your Pokemon, your Pokemon is as weak as a wild Pokemon of the same level. However that is ok as we'll fix this right now.

Now that you're at lvl 100 (or something very high), you can OHKO anything you want. Now go back and revisit some places to find Pokemon that gives you the right EVs that you want and need. Now battle nothing except those Pokemon that gives you the EVs you need. Escape from everything else. Earn up to 510 EVs and you can get the Effort Ribbon. After you got that ribbon, put it in your PC box and let the stats magically raise itself.

When you just hatched from an egg, you're just lvl 5. You're forced to fight the weaker wild Pokemon near the beginning of the game. That means your source of EV is very limited. Therefore, use rare candy to bring your strength up so you are strong enough to pick and choose what Pokemon to battle, in order to control your EVs.

You can earn that much rare candy with 5 zigzagoons. Their pickup ability can easily dig up 80 rare candy or so in one round of EV training (if you check often enough though).

Doomsday_Shadow... how can I entrust you to represent PC to the Interboard Pokemon Tournament when we're still at the point of learning about EVs? =/

From this day on, no more questioning about EV training should be raised... we DO have a FAQ that talks about it? =/

I know about EVs, Ive learned from Serebii.net.
But, I think it isnt honest to use RC, understand?

how is it "less honest" when EV training actually takes even longer? You can only choose Pokemon to battle, and some EV like defense or attack doesn't come by very easily. It requires just as much effort to do EV training, and if not more due to all the breeding beforehand.
