Magmortar Set......Which one?

    Magmortar@Expert Belt/Choice Specs
    Modest (+sp. atk -atk)
    252 Sp. Atk, 252 Speed, 4 HP - (Unsure on EV's, haven't trained yet)

    HP Ice/Thunderbolt
    Flamethrower/Lava Plume - LP for Double Battles with other Fire type with Flash Fire
    Focus Punch/Focus Blast - Unsure on which, Punch for Blissey, but then need atk ev's.
    Psychic/Thunderbolt

    Any help would be appreciated,

    I am in no way shape or form an expert on any fire type, but out of the above, I would choose those.
     
    Hmm, thanks...

    I had Psychic in there for the Explosion pokemon like Weezing, who I seem to run into alot. STAB isn't good with it, but it works. I had Focus Punch there purely for Blissey, but my Electivire can take care of it I suppose. :) (That makes room for more Speed EV's.)

    Thunderbolt for the obvious water types, and HP Ice for pesky pokemon such as Rhyperior, although burn would be need, which is why I was thinking of Will-O-Wisp.

    Why didn't I remember WoW? I think that is a standard on Magmotar.

    Don't force a poke to do too many different roles. Leave Blissey to Vire.
     
    Focus Punch is more accurate but requires prediction. Cross Chop is a good enough choice, it can possibly 2HKO Blissey. Choose Expert Belt over the Choice item. Mild nature is preferred over Modest if your Magmortar is going to have a mixed set.

    EVs: 34 Atk / 252 Sp.Atk / 224 Spd
     
    Wouldn't that leave him open to water?

    Yes, but as I stated, I have Electivire for Blissey, so i have Focus Blast as back-up power move, although focus punch would still work nicely, but then atk ev's would need to be invested.....

    Modest is probably the way, I'll use this set I reckon:

    Magmortar@Expert belt
    252 sp. atk, 252 speed, 6 HP.
    Modest

    HP Ice
    Flamethrower/Will-o-Wisp
    Thunderbolt
    Psychic/Focus Blast

    P.S. Max stats at a Hindering nature would still give Magmortar around 210+ Attack, so I may be able to pull of Focus Punch with perhaps a few EV's invested. What do you think? How many Atk EV's?

    Urgh...magmortar. the ugly thing...just don't use psychic, and WoW is recommended so you've got a shot at actually surviving a hit.
     
    Yeah, that looks like a nice set, and great coverage.
     
    ok, thanks. I only had Psychic there for Exploders like weezing etc, because I see tons of those. I really needed a good Fire type for bronzong and Metagross, and HP Ice can help deal with Rhyperior and dragons.

    EDIT: If I baton passed speed from my Yanmega, would I still need to invest so many Speed EV's into it? Or could I improve HP, for more durability?

    About rhyinferior, remember that ability...and yeah, psychic has terrible type coverage.
     
    Would you have trouble against a Light Screen Brozong?
     
    Ah, but FP alone, (especially at Maggy's atk) won't be enough. Still, You do have what, 5 others? You'll be fine.
     
    yes, plus, Electivire can handle it if it uses Light Screen. What would it use against me though once used?

    Is Yanmega @ Speed Boost - Baton Pass an option instead of 252 Speed?

    Just noticed Heatproof on Bronzong......could be a problem, but I have others for that. :)

    Brozong is difficult to predict. Remember when we battled? Right after that, I fought Name. His Brozong stalled me for half & hour until I realized it had Heatproof, not Levitate. I could have taken it out 25 minutes ago, had I known that.
