2nd Gen Mahogany Town (Beta?)

I was looking around Bulbapedia and i found this:

The lake or rage beta map?
Since there is a gym there a gym somewhere else had to go
I think i must have been Mahogany town because its the closet town
and it would make sense to have mahogany town there because of the team rocket base being under the lake to effect the magikarp becoming red gyrados'

what do you lot think?

Yeah, it makes sense.

A few of the beta maps are quite interesting. Some are quite close to the final versions, but a couple have extra gatehouses or different routes leading from them.

It would be interesting if one day a working beta of Gold/Silver was found, just to see how the game started out and the shape of things developed.

The Voltorbbadge is probably an in-joke, because other badges have receive text in the format Player received NAMEBADGE.

This may explain the gym in the picture above :L

I've always loved the fact that G/S/C are Beta Goldmines. We fans thrive off of seeing "What could have been". My guess is that it was a VERY early Mahagony Town, before it even had a name. On the topic of betas, did you know that Jirachi was originally planned to be a Gen II Pokemon? Very similar to how Gastrodon and Shellos were planned to be in R/S/E.

I ahve found out a bit more info on Gold/SIlver beta
The werwe orginally going to be ninebadges of johto
And 7 in kanto making 16 still
one badge was taking out of Kanto because of the volcano eruption meaning this map was made later in the process
becaise of the cinnabar isnland beta map (r/b/y edition)

It's weird, but all of the beta stuff makes me feel a bit spooky. I don't know if it's the simplistic GB/GBC graphics or what, but it's strange seeing things that didn't make it into the final cut. Like ghost-towns, almost! Or when that guy on YouTube found the abandoned Johto Safari Zone, and there's nothing in the grass... *shivers* :C

There is nothing in the grass because it is a beta map

When Nintendo were beta testing
They choose not to have pokemon in the first round
To make it easier

That Teak City is intriguing ... astop beetween Saffron and Goldenrod ?

I ahve found out a bit more info on Gold/SIlver beta

This is a very interesting thread. Now we need to add that town in-between goldenrod City and Saffron City as it could be a nice Battle Fronter after you beat the game. :)

Goldenrod and Saffron are in two different regions. The center of the space between them is Mt. Silver.

I do feel that you do more to Mt Silver then just Red. Maybe a Earthquake after you beat him to access another path to another town :)
