4th Gen Major Migration Issue

So I'm having an issue with migrating my PKMN from LG/E to Platinum. I have read through countless posts and threads throughout the interwebs that all I should have to do is beat the E4, talk to Oak at the Pal Park, talk to the guy in the pal park, then BAM! I should have the option to migrate...only, I don't. I've beaten both LG and Emerald and all the games are from the same region (USA). I'm stumped, I tried on a friend's DS last night and didn't get an option either. Help please.

Are your GBA games fine? They're the official cartridges, and the save files on them are all right? See if your LeafGreen and Emerald games can be played normally, so don't try to migrate Pokemon from them. Just see if the save files are all right.

Yeah, they play fine. I was able to go through and "beat" both of them. I assume they're official cartridges, I got them off eBay...is there a way to make sure they're genuine?

Here's a video that goes over all the ways to spot a fake Pokemon game.

But you can check the quality of the label (official labels are shiny and metallic in light) and there should be some imprints under the label that you can see if you shine it in the light. Plus, if you tilt the cartridge, by the contacts, you should see small white lettering that says "©2002 Nintendo" with a code after that.

I guess the seller I got them from was really good at counterfeiting because they match everything she says for a genuine copy minus the factory stamp indention. They all play fine and have no issues otherwise..guess I could find someone with a legit copy and use theirs to transfer my stuff to a legit game and then migrate.

Thank younso much for your help. I was able to salvage my saving by transferring everything to a friend's FR and then to Platinum. Guess I'm gonna purchase a legit FR/LG/E to move stuff around from game to game.

You're welcome! I'm glad you were able to save your Pokemon! As the video said, you need to be careful with buying games from eBay. If you can find a decent used video game store that has the GBA games, now you can check the cartridges out yourself to make sure they're legit!

I never even thought someone could/would make fake copies...but then again I guess there's a scam for everything. I actually started looking on eBay after I watched that video and paid careful attention and started really noticing the differences. You can view the pics I attached in my first post and see how close they are to legit and the only thing they're missing is the stamp. Everything else looks 100% correct.
